Some of you know that as a quote from the book, The Hobbit. This topic is about what we always carry in our pockets/purse, besides money, wallets, makeup, or other necessities.
for example; I always have, my cell phone, a pen, and a deck of cards in my pockets, the cell phone is a basic necesity, while the pen is simply a wise choice because you often need to write. Now down to what is out of the ordinary; the deck of cards. I always carry this around because you never know when you'll be stuck somewhere, and many games can be played with cards, such as solitaire, ERF, rummy (don't know how to spell it), blackjack, etc. Edit can't believe I forgot my keys and ipod, my ipod serves practically the same purpose as my deck of cards, personal entertainment. my keys are for my house and car, pretty basic This post has been edited by Cloud_Strife510 on 27th June 2006 01:02 -------------------- "Have you ever seen a baby do that before?" |

Interesting...

I am a packrat.
In my right pocket I have my three house keys, my mail key, and my car key (with its keyless entry fob). I usually have some manner of change, a lip balm, a pocketknife, and my membership scanner for my gym even though I don't really live close enough to there to go right now. Left pocket is leaner and meaner - all it has is my Razr and my ID badge to get into my office (work days only, of course). My wallet stays in my back pocket unless I have cargo pants on, in which case I put my wallet in one of those pockets so I don't have to sit on the dang thing. -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

I don't carry a lot in my pockets, but in my purse I carry lip gloss, a hair brush, hair elastics, a book just in case, my walkman, a pen, a pencil and usually a bunch of folded up papers from school I've forgotten to take out.

If you want to include when I'm in SGT Wallace mode (AKA uniform) then I also carry a Gerber(multi use tool) and two knives on my belt, as well as my keys and dogtags.

Hahah I tend to always carry things the same way:
My left pocket is for any loose change I have that I don't want to shove into my wallet to make needlessly heavy or thick, along with my sony ericsson cell phone. It's just annoying to have a really thick wallet because of a bit of change that you're probably going to be fishing around for by the end of the hour anyways, might as well have it on hand. The cell phone is obviously with me incase anyone needs to reach me; I don't tend to stay on them aimlessly to chat or anything because I'm not made of money. In my right pocket, I always keep two five dollar bills, my iPod and three or four guitar picks, usually the thicker kind. The bills are because, growing up where I did, I learned that pulling out your wallet isn't always the smartest thing to do, especially when you're like me and most of the money you make/earn/have on you is in cash-form. This way, I have a little bit of money I can easily pull out incase I want to pick up anything small, some food or drinks or maybe a magazine, whatever. The iPod is simply because I can't live without music and need it everywhere I go, especially because I'm a musician myself and since the Nano is small enough to fit comfortably in my pocket without any bother, it's a double bonus. The guitar picks are an obvious carry-along with me, infact it's a trait I think most guitarists share with me, or at least the ones I've met so far. You never know when you might be asked to play or have the opportunity to pick up a geet and lay out a tune and in those instances, you don't want to be caught with your pants down and have to bust up your fingers. In my back-left pocket, I normally carry my bus-pass and tickets so I can pull them out easily whenever I need to get on a bus or metro and get around town. Yay public transportation! If my keys aren't also in this pocket, they're usually hanging off one of those mountain climbing clip things that I wear from the belt-rung on my jeans right next to this pocket, always on my left. In my right-back pocket goes my wallet, which obviously carries all my cards, IDs, money, pictures and all that sort of jazz. Sometimes I'll carry a small pack of tiny post-it's and a pen in one of my pockets just incase I need to write something down. Seems like a lot of stuff to hold you down, but it's really not so bad. -------------------- Okay, but there was a goat! |

Interesting topic,
I refuse to carry anything in my back pockets, because I'm weird and I hate the feeling of being "lop-sided" when I sit down. My front left pocket holds my wallet, notebook, and a pen (just in case something comes to me) My front right pocket holds the keys to my house, car, and work as well as my cell phone and chapstick and a mahogany turtle charm I picked up in Korea signifying long life. |

Sometimes I accumulate so much crap in my pockets its ridiculous, since not only are they a catch all, but I have a habit of just moving whats in the pockets of my dirty pants, to the same pockets in my clean pants. I do mean everything.
Typically, though, my left pocket is sporting my DS, and once in a while a game case, to hold a few more games with me. My right pocket has most of the crap I accumulate, along with a thick hair tie or two, to tie my hair back if I need it out of my face. It also has my keys/keychain. Back right pocket has my wallet, back left pocket has my mini-notebook and mini-pen, because sometimes inspiration strikes me, and I need someplace to write it down, otherwise I might lose a funny script for Steve and Mac, or I might lose an idea for a story. -------------------- This one time I punched a bear in the forehead TO DEATH! usually some mechanical pencil and a few notecards if a drawing idea for a sword (in a video game im making with a friend) strikes me (i dont know why but its so much easier to draw on a notecard, its small and easy to take anywhere), and mabye an empty tic tac case to occupy my self with (usually open and close it over and over...it helps me think....i have no clue why), and maybe a mini notepad if a non-drawing idea hits me along with a clicky pen (come on they're the best kind). and if im lucky, any loose change or bills ive accumulated from around the house. then possibly my GBA and FF IV in it, and then maybe a pack of gum (serves the same purpose as the tic tac case, i have to being doing something that is just constant if I want to think....again, i donnt know why), my house key, and an eraser (those ones that look like pencils but it has that bar that you move up and down to make it come out), and a playing card: usually the Ace of Spades, or the Jack of Hearts.....i consider them lucky for some odd reason

Left pocket always has the cell and my lighter. Right has my keys, and back pocket my tobacco. And if I'm not wearing any jacket or carrying a bag or something, the last back pocket has the wallet.
I hate carrying bags, so my pockets are always full. |

In my left front pocket, my wallet. This typically contains a bunch of vouckers, my school ID, some bus tickets, receipts, and some bank details, as well as my keys - for the house, my locker at the school I left a year ago, and the key to some door in my New York hotel room from back in February. Oops.
Right front pocket is generally just a mobile phone, nothing too exciting. Jacket pockets are where it gets slightly more interesting, usually containing a bunch of worksheets from school, some doodles and sketches, a box of matches, some gum, a bunch of empty sweet packets, my portable CD player and, sometimes, a pen. These pockets are also where interesting things I've found end up, and will occasionally play host to a length of string or wire, dice, someone's shopping list, a rubber bouncy ball, or art materials such as colourful cloth and the like. I don't know why. This post has been edited by Mimic on 28th June 2006 11:29 |

I carry a purse if I'm driving or need my wallet. Normally I carry around:
- Lipgloss - Car keys (if driving) - Wallet - Pen and pencil, with some scrap paper If I have my backpack (which I do if I'm at work) I also have: - A notebook - More pens and pencils - A book - Water bottle with a holder/straps -------------------- I had an old signature. Now I've changed it. |

Left back: wallet, unless I have cargo shorts or pants on. then it goes in the left leg pocket
Right back: empty Left front: cell phone Right front: keys (w/ boba fett keychain usually dangling outside) Any change that accumulates is emptied at the end of the day on a small vase by my bedroom door. At the end of the year, all that change can bankroll a nice treat for yourself. ![]() -------------------- Join the Army, see the world, meet interesting people - and kill them. ~Pacifist Badge, 1978 |

right back: Wallet left back: empty, usually right front: If I'm out of my car, my ipod. But otherwise my cellphone. left front: Lotsa keys left cargo: this is where my cellphone gets banished when it's replaced by the ipod right cargo: usually one of those barnes and noble pocket books. Nice quote from The Hobbit there, I love that book.
![]() Generally, I always have my wallet in the left pocket, and my phone in the right. For a long time I had my keys in the back pocket along with train passes, important tickets, etc. But, I have changed this recently due to uncomfortableness of sitting on keys, and crunched up cards. Keys are now hooked to the front of the belt, resulting in much annoying jangling. I may put some random stuff in the back pocket that no one would want for any reason . , i.e. random pieces of paper. Train passes, police ID, other passes, etc, are going in the right pocket with the phone for now, seems to work. Hmmm, In my pockets I usualy have some form of loose change that'll end up going through the wash, and if it happens to fit, my DS, Sadly though, guy pockets are much more DS friendly than female pockets.

I only carry my keys and my wallet. If I know I'm going to need a pen, I put one in my shirt pocket, same with my checkbook. I carry my cell phone in my hand, because I hate having to rearrange it every two minutes, but I usually leave it in the car.
I kind of want to carry a pad and pen with me at all times, because I'm always remembering that I thought of something earlier that I wanted to address at that time, but I never remember what it actually was.
