Though I love the old school MM series, MMX# was much better. But overall I would have to say that my favorite MM game is MM Legends. Even though the gameplay is entirely different, giving the battles a 3-D environment made for a much more challenging game.

I am and MMX Fan I played Power Battle for Arcade and it was fun watching my favorite Blues or Breakman/Protoman's ending. And Bass/Forte was fun too. But I was disapointed for there being no Treble/Gospel. I have nothing against Legends or the Arcade Versions of Megaman. Except maybe that glitched version of Megaman 3.

Okay, I was going to start my own general Mega Man topic when Tiddles told me (in chat) that there was an ancient topic already in existence. So I went ahead and used it.

My favorites of the MM series: MM4,5,6 (out of playing MM2,4,5,6, and beating MM4,5).
My favorite of the X series: MMX3 (after playing MMX,X2,X3 and beating X2 and X3).

Oh my have I got a HUGE FRICKIN' TON of stuff to say about the MM series games. I sure hope this thread continues to be posted in.

The music of the MM and MMX games is some of the BEST EVER. In my opinion, although it has pretty much the same mood in most tracks (as opposed to the varied music of RPGs), it rivals Nobuo Uematsu's music in its quality. I'm still going to start an MM thread, though, since I believe this thread talks mainly about the games in general and their gameplay. The new thread will be about MM music.

Why have I not posted in here yet?! [EDIT: Read GMH's post, noticed dates of the posts above his] I've played 1-7 original, 1-3X, MegaMan and Bass(Rockman and Forte or Mega Man 9), and the wonderful Mega Man Soccer. I can't wait to play 8, and I'm disappointed with myself for losing track of the X series as it moved on to next gen systems.

I guess my favorite is MM2. I remember playing it as a child and I could never figure out how to beat the final-final boss. When I picked it up again years later, I figured out that Bubble Lead was the only effective weapon. The game was perfectly balanced.

MM4 was the first one I ever owned, and it thus has a special place for me. MM7 was also incredible.

Wow! I'm a Mega Man freakazoid a-la therandyrhoads and I somehow managed to never find this thread. I used to draw all of the bosses when they came out (I think I drew 1 through 4). Once I counted all of the hard hats in the first three games combined.

Anyway, I've not played the post-NES ones for more than a few minutes, so my love is centered on MM1 through MM6. I think MM2 is my overall favorite, but they're all so dependably enjoyable.

Hooray for arm-cannons!

I think the Mega Man series was at it's best during the NES era. I've played 1-6 and I believe 2-4 are the best ones. 1 was underdeveloped and 5 & 6 were overdeveloped. By the time 5 came around the NES format of Mega Man games was played out and the SNES was coming out at that time, making 5 and 6 rather obsolete. Mega Man X presented a nice graphical improvement to the series along with a better story and body components for "X" but the music became more Street Fighter-ish in style, and I'm not convinced that was a good thing. Despite that Mega Man X did have some decent music. After Mega Man X I feel the series got too carried away with story elements and other fancy things stuck onto the same tired old format. After playing through the first 7 games enough was enough so I stopped keeping up with the series. I haven't played anything past X2 though my brother has played X4 and the new one for the PS2.

Here's my list of favorite Mega Man games:
  1. Mega Man 3
  2. Mega Man 4
  3. Mega Man 2
  4. Mega Man X
  5. Mega Man 1
  6. Mega Man 5
  7. Mega Man X2
  8. Mega Man 6

I LOVE the MM series.. Although the only ones I've played were MM7, MMX, MMX2, and MMX3.

Mega Man 7 in my opinion SUCKED. I'm not trying to be a critic or anything, but the gameplay was really terrible (or maybe it's because I haven't played the NES editions). But anyway, I really disliked it. I wanted to beat it, but I found no motivation to do so.

My favorite Mega Man game is X2. Oh, God!... It has the best music, difficulty (although the final boss was easier than X1 and X3), and it has the 2nd best gameplay (MMX3 had better gameplay).

In fact, I loved X2 so much, that I'd often beat it 5 times a day just for the fun of it!

Now, for MMX and MMX3, I didn't really like MMX3 too much except for the playable Zero feature and parts upgrade feature. MMX3 had worse music imo because for some reason they lost the "cool" feel that was most often used in X and X2.. Maybe except for that airport place and the sewer place in X3, but that's just it. X3 was a bit easier than X2 and X.

X kicked ass. Gameplay was was a bit slow, but the music and difficulty made the game up to me.

I love the MMX series just as much as I love Final Fantasy. Capcom seems much more expertised at making action/adventure and fighting games rather than RPG (I'm never touching Breath of Fire 1 or 3 again tongue.gif)

Oh, and Zero is a classic badass.

The main reasons I am a gamer today are Mario, Mega Man, and Simon Belmont. I have played pretty much every game in the series, still have the weakness tables memorized for all of the X and Classic games I've played (which is all but X7), and my personal best on beating Mega Man X with 100% items is 44 minutes (the record is 36 minutes).

My favorite Mega Man game is X1, and my other favorites are 2, 3, X3, X4, X8, and V (the NES used numbers, the game boy used Roman numerals). It's a series that no one should really ignore.

NED, look out for thread necromancy...

I, myself, am a HUGE Mega Man fan. I have been ever since the very first MM game I played: MM3. I loved it and soon became addicted. We got MM4-6 soon after and many years later, I bought MM2 and MM1 on my own out of curiosity. IMO, the best MM games are the first ones. They were extremely fun and had great replay value to me (e.g. trying to beat the game with the most useless weapons, or using only the mega buster, or using the Top Spin, etc.). Not to mention that the Yellow Devil in MM1 drove me nuts! Good difficulty on that game, lemme tell ya, not to mention that Elec Man can kill you in like 2 hits.

The early MMX games were great, too. LIke the others here, MMX2 is one of my favorites because of the music, weapons, and just overall goodness, not to mention Agile (by far, the best character ever). X is a classic and X3 is really fun, too, especially if you try to beat every enemy in the game (Bit, Byte, Vile the first time, Bit/Byte hybrid, the other firsdt boss of the Dopler series, the secret Mosquito Boss in the second Dopler board (which nabs you the Zero Saber, under certain conditions), etc.). Kaiser Sigma was a bastard, but still a great game.

The later X games (4-6...I haven't played 7 or beyond) were really fun with lots of replay value, too. Playing as Zero is great for a change, even moreso when armed with his own set of moves. X6 got to be a bit complicated for the nature of MM games, IMO (with all the viruses and rescuing the reploids and such), but I still enjoyed it being a fan.

Legends and Legends 2 brought a whole new light onto the series. I remember logging COUNTLESS hours in MML1, trying to get max money, max upgrades on the special weapons, and every optional part in the game. I did it, but it took AGES. Didn't spend as much time on MML2, but I still played it for awhile.

The last MM game I ever played was MM Command Mission. I wasn't expected it to be good at all, but, being a fan, I had to play. I was disappointingly easy, even the secret bosses (Rafflesian and that stupid Mole I think, right?). All you do is give Massimo all the powerups, Power Charge and Generator, and then you can sue both of his chips every turn. When you buy that uber weapon for him (Beast Cannon or something), you can do ridiculous amounts of damage. When you do the same in his Hyper Mode, it is almost unfair. I beat a majority of the game using only him. Loved every bit of it. Highly recommended.

I just remembered that I neglected to mention MM7 and Rockman & Forte. I had 100% on both games many times over with each character (in the case of the latter) and loved every bit of it. I won't bore you with any more details.

I'm a huge fan, so naturally I love all of the games and have nothing with praise to say. I'm with laszlow here: if it wasn't for this series, I would not be the gamer I am today. biggrin.gif

Caesar, forgot MMZ? wink.gif

One thing that kept me coming back for more MM was the Zero series. A decent 2D game nowadays is rare (even if those Elves were a little fruity...)

To boot, it marks the very end of the X era.

Possible spoilers: highlight to view
Both Zero and X's original bodies are destroyed, X's "spirit" fades away, and the current body Zero has ends up trashed beyond repair.

Although I wouldn't be surprised (but certainly disappointed) if Capcom came up with an excuse to undo the above.

2-D is where the MM games erally shine. A rare find, indeed, RL.

I haven't played any non-console MM game besides R&F and one of the battle chip games, so I wouldn't know about MMZ. sleep.gif

I honestly think that MMZ lacked the great level design and feel of the classic X games. Too few weapons, even worse storyline than usual, and the art style doesn't appeal to me. I can only hope that Mega Man ZX for the DS is an improvement, because it's from the MMZ team.

I love Megaman! My first was MM2 for NES, though I never could finish it. Actually, the only megaman game I finished was MMX I think.. one of those SNES ones anyway. I think I've missed out on a whole bunch though, cause I've only played one or two SNES versions and none for anyother system. 1 - 6 are still great though.

Yesterday I picked up Megaman: Powered Up for PSP. It's the updated version of the very first Megaman, and it kicks major behind! You can create levels, download levels other players have created, download alternate costumes for Roll (she's hella strong, but tough to use), as well as play as defeated bosses and play in challenge levels. Awesome game. Loving every minute of it.

Call me a blasphemer, but I really can't stand how megaman TOTALLY ROCKS!! God, this game series is the best thing that ever happened to me. I mean, to be honest with I had almost given up gaming for good (say it ain't so) and then I stumbled upon Megaman X2...I almost died when I played it! That game opened my eyes to the glory that was Megaman and I immediately purchased every game in the series 1-7 and all of the X series. My next major purchase will be the Zero games along with Legends and probably another copiy of each of the NES games. Man...thank you Blue Bomber!

I've played Megaman II (almost beat), III (beat), VII (almost beat), Megaman X (beat), Megaman X-2 (didn't get very far), I tried out those GBA games, but I didn't really like them as much as the old platforming ones. They were still pretty fun though.

Okay, I hope one of you can help me with this question here. I was playing Megaman X-2 (This was way back when you could still rent SNES games, mind you), and I was playing in this moth stage or something. Then I went through the little door and hallway that signifies you fighting a boss, but it wasn't the boss for the level. sleep.gif; It was this...guy, I think one of the main villains, and he had this lightsaber-esque weapon (Like Sigma), and promptly made mincemeat out of me. Can somebody explain what I did? ><;

I think the MegaMan series is going down hill, i mean the nine were great, and MMX series are too, but since "MegaMan battle network" and "MegaMan zero" I just havn't gotten in to the new storylines and gameplay.
