I've watched the jap version like 8 times. I tried to watch the english but I restrained myself from breaking the disc and burning it. English verison has shitty voice acting imo.

I like a more masculine sounding voice so I didn't enjoy the Japanese as much as the English. But Barret sounded like fricken Mr. T and what was the deal with Nanaki's funky British accent? But I was one of the two losers whose seen it more than 10 times. I've seen it probably more than 20. I love it.

I've seen the Japanese version I think three times, and checked out the english version. The voice acting wasn't that terrible. (All english voice acting doesn't automatically have to suck, you know.) Except...Kitten Sith! What did they do?! He already sounded annoying in the Japanese version, why add insult to injury?

I've seen the English version once. Thankfully, I didn't waste my money on that tragedy of a film. English voice acting doesn't HAVE to be bad, but in this case, it was terrible.
Between the continuity-destroying quick-cuts in the 'action' scenes and the terrible voice acting, not to mention the retarded fan-service cameos for the rest of the cast--oh wait...I forgot the absolutely retarded inconsistencies in the film. Defying basic physics isn't so bad, but defying the physics you've already established is. But yeah--AC blew. |

Seen the English one about 5 times, haven't seen the Japanese one and I don't think I ever will. What's the point in saying you prefer the Japanese one just because there voices sound a bit better. I'd rather watch the English one where I can understand what they're saying and not having to read the subtitles if I don't have to.
I really liked the film's plot but it sure doesn't compete with the original. -------------------- Bahamut King Of The Dragons... |

Zero. I am not wasting two hours on pointless fanboy pandering when I could just as easily read a one-paragraph load of tripe on fanfiction.net entitled 'sepiroth's deadly retrun' which ironically might have better writing than the damned script for advent cashin.
As far as I am concerned the summary on Wikipedia has gone into all the detail it can, and therefore, tells me enough of what I need to know. And I can't be bothered entering all the sub vs dub nonsense except to question what a British accent is (it crops up every time, someone has a "british accent"), becuase that could mean anything from John o' Groats to Lands End. Watched it a few times when I had nothing better to do, couldn't tell you how many. Probably less than 5. Can't see myself actually buying it though; the DVD release was pretty deplorable, especially for $40 AUS.

I watched it a couple of times in English only. I will watch it again at some point. It doesn't quite live up to the game, but I think it's a good laugh and I enjoyed it anyway despite it's many faults. Sure they're milking it, but I don't care. As long as it's enjoyable and fun, that's the main thing.

Actually, I've seen Spirits Within, and I enjoyed that movie quite alot. In fact, other than the distractingly well-done imaging effects, I don't see what's so bad about it. Then again, maybe it just hit on the wrong audience (coughAmericanmoviegoerswithneitherimaginationnortasteforsomethingthatsnotasitcomcough) and maybe I have a taste for cliché. It's that I lack interest in FFVII spinoffs. Given that, I'm willing to spend neither money nor effort nor time in order to see this. If I happen to walk into a friend's dorm room and see him watching this, maybe I'll sit around. But I won't actually take the initiative to go get it myself. Especially since it involves more of the big deal about Sephiroth. Big deal. I was never a Sephy fan. In fact, I don't really like his character, but that's a whole 'nother discussion. If I do eventually see it, as with all other movies, I'll prefer to see it in English. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. Wow, I'm surprised to see how many people thought the voice overs were terrible. I really loved Cloud and Sephiroth's voices, especially Reno, Rude, and Rufus. The only ones I really didn't like were Cait Sith and Barret.

I've watched it I think four times? I rented it and watched it a few times and watched it once at my friend's house. I wanna rent it again or buy it.

Quote (kai9d9 @ 13th June 2006 19:05) i have it and only watch it in english ive watched it 43 times counted So... you basically wasted two and a quarter days of your life watching the exact same movie, all over a period of less than two months? Whatever. I saw it once illegally subbed, once legally subbed, and once legally dubbed. I've had my fix for now, and it will probably be another several months before I watch it again at the very least. -------------------- |

I think the only reason I like watching it so much is because I've been waiting for it for so long. Waiting with a lot of excitement. And because we've been roleplaying FF7 for about 4 years, actually seeing another storyline was exciting. Meh.

I saw it once, and unfortunately we own it. Thankfully my brother was the one who wasted the money on it.
Now, maybe I'm not the biggest FF7 fan. Maybe I bought into the hype just a bit too much. Maybe these people forgot how to write. I don't know. But I have to say that Advent Children was...well, the worst thing I've seen since Wedding Crashers or Wind of Amnesia. I mean, I was expecting tons of fighting, but all that fighting was EXHAUSTING. I didn't care about action anymore after the first half hour. So I guess that leaves plot and dialogue. Well, there was no dialogue. The most profound, insightful and best line was 'Dilly-dally shilly-shally.' I half expected a 'Hellomoto' or 'Can you hear me now?' So uh...no good. Plot? HAH! Sephiroth's back, but it takes an hour for him to get to Midgar. That's the plot, sure there's a bahmut in there for mindless action and some sort of rash going around...but that's it. All the cool characters were relegated to mindless fighting, or near non-existance. Reno and Rude were made into clowns. Rude talked way too much. Am I a little upset at this? You can say so. I mean, sure, I didn't waste my money on it, but I did waste an hour and a half on it that I could have spent doing nothing. -------------------- Really Random Quote of the Day: "Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war." - Richard M. Nixon So if you're done reading this, you know I have nothing to say and you've wasted your time. Thank you come again. |

All I've seen of it are the few short vids posted on gofish.com that have the Bahamut fight scene playing with Korn in the background giving up "got the life".
I don't really have any interest in the movie. I'm with GM Harvey. I own Spirits Within, and I like it quite a bit. I was really surprised when it bombed in theatres. -------------------- Join the Army, see the world, meet interesting people - and kill them. ~Pacifist Badge, 1978 |
