I was on my way to the Phoenix cave when i ran into doom gaze, I almost died but then he ran away and when i open equipment i have 96 ATMA WEAPONS?!? 50 illuminatos and over 300 dried meats, all the genji armor, 95 of each and cyans strato weapon and just to top it off everyone started to learn ultima, i mean it was great at first but but now i think its ruining the game, (by the way this is a ps1 version)

That's what I heard. That and the sketch glitch only worked while on the Veldt.

It happened on my PS1 once too. But it was at the beginning, well after figaro castle...Terra has the sprite of Locke, and she got a Esper called Slimer ( which is an enemy skill that cause Seizure status...weird, huh?), and all her damage was 9999, even a single fire spell. I also got 99 Illuminas, 97 Ragnaroks, a lot of Dirk knifes ( like 300 or more), Ogre nix , Epee...everything, like you butI started a new game because of that glitch. To be honest my PS1 was not in the proper conditions, and that's what probably happened to you.

Mog's explanation sounds good to me. I remember when I borrowed a scratched up disc from a friend, when I started a new game my stats were pretty screwed up, like Terra had 1 Vigor, 2 Speed, 252 Stamina, and like, 5 or so Mag.Pwr. I originally thought that that's what happened when you used an original Anthology save with Greatest Hits (the save was from years back), but that wasn't the case. It could very well just be an f'ed up system or disc causing the problem.

However, if Mog would be so kind as to share which version this happened on, maybe one day I'll be bored enough to check it out (don't get your hopes up, it's not bloody likely I'll run into the same thing).

Do you still have the save file? Keep playing it and see if anyone else has messed up stats.

As for the Esper, "Slimer", I don't think that's really in the game. People have scoured the entire disk of FF6 and I've never heard of this before.

Although an incorrect ID could point to other data. Esper names are stored right near the enemy attack names, so overshooting by just a little could easily land you there. And since the index would point to an invalid esper, what it does in battle is anyone's guess.

It's highly unlikely that the actual data has been changed around by a glitch. A CD doesn't rewrite itself automagically, especially in a read-only device. But if a chunk of ram got screwed up, indexes could come up pointing to data they're not normally meant to point to.
