Tow things I've been wondering about ever since getting FF7:Advent Children. First off is the disease that Jenova used against the Cetra Geostigma?
Possible spoilers: highlight to view
in Advent, Sephiroth mentions something about wanting the thoughts of geostigma's dead and also mentions this is something his mother did along time ago.

Also I wonder if after the game did Cid and Shera make up?
Possible spoilers: highlight to view
Again in Advent, Cid shows up in a newer model of the Highwind he calls the "Shera" model.

(Sorry if this has already been mentioned before hand or if I'm putting this in the wrong place. I'm a newbie, show mercy!)

Yeah I think Cid did make up with Shera. I think he grows to respect her again after the oxygen tank explodes in space. Still, She's really stupid to have stayed in the rocket eh?
I mean Cid would never have forgiven himself if he'd taken off. I have no idea why she expected him to launch.

I made the same mistake. The ship is actually called the Sierra. I thought it was cute and whatnot thinking he called it Shera, but once I was searching around online I found its name to be Sierra.

As for the Sephiroth thing, I believed him to be referring to using the planet as a vessel to travel the cosmos and such. I just connected Geostigma as being Jenova's cells infecting the life stream.

Geostigma was the result of the earth trying to use a sort of "immune system" sort of defense to destroy what was left of the Jenova threat, and it overcompenstated for the issue, creating the the geostigma disease. My guess for it effecting mostly children is due to them having weaker immune systems themselves and thus being more susceptable. Considering Rufus was more or less put out of action by the wreckage of Shrina HQ, I'd imagine it'd be the same reason for him contracting it.

I assumed Cloud got it due to his excessive contact with both Jenova and the Lifestream, which is more or less what was passing on the Geostigma, I think.

It couldn't have been Jenova directly causing it, because the children don't recieve any Jenova cells or infections until their experience up in the Ancient City, clearly after being already infected by geostigma.

It is possible though, that the planet might've done this before as part of the measure to counteract the original Jenova threat during the time of the Cetra, which might explain their rapid extinction. Since the Cetra had such direct contact with the Planet and Lifestream, it would make sense for them to easily be infected by Geostigma when the planet makes the overcompensation for Jenova infection.

This is all just my own theory, based on what I understand from the movie and game itself, so I might be wrong.

Sierra? On the subtitles it's still called Shera. Where did you get that from?

the official square-sanctioned romanisation for the airship name is "sierra." all this does is lead me to believe that "shera" is a mistransliteration of "sierra" in the first place, since the romanisations for both names are the *exact* same.

I dont really mind knowing this could be a mistranslation and the romancations or whatever, but i still like to call it by the name of the "Shera". It makes my day so much prettier and happier thinking this way biggrin.gif

Yeah I agree with the Shera name, especially because when I found the Sierra thing I was a bit appalled. In the English version it sounds like he says Shera, but if you're looking for the Sierra...it can sound both ways eh.gif

well, that previous post was in very poor logical form.

i mean to say that the name "shera," for the woman who lived/worked with cid, is the wrong name anyway. it should have been written as "sierra" in the english-language copy of ff7. the name is written シエラ [siera] in the japanese, which is identical to the name of the airship in ac. while i probably would have translated the name to something closer to "shera" myself, it seems almost given that the two names are the exact same name.

furthermore, in the events of dirge of cerberus, cid and shera/sierra are married. maybe the airship was a wedding giff.

Ahhh thanks everyone. You've cleared up a lot. happy.gif I did notice that on the movie the subtitles said sierra, but I was pretty sure it was said as Shera, so I was a bit confused.

Maybe, in Dirge of Cerberus, Cid tries to land the Sierra/Shera on its first run. But then Shera is still painting the lines on the airstrip! Of course she tells him to just land on her; but since they're just married Cid crashes the ship and starts again from scratch calling her a %^&$ for making him do that. Back to normal...

Did the Planet create this disease or is it created by Sephiroth and Jenova? because when people with geostigma die then they return as corrupted life stream instead of normal. then Sephiroth can controll that or Kadaj and gang, such as those creatures or When Sephirioth raises his hands and the black cloud comes its like Negative Materia, and i belive he says something about choking the planet.

So Sephiroth needs that to control the planet and if he can split his Will into three different entities, (kadaj, Loz, and Yazoo) then couldnt he cause Jenovas cells to freak out and disease? just curios

Sierra sounds more fitting to 'Shiera" than Shera. :/
