Supposedly, you use the frying pan on yang to wake him up in the snes/ps1 versions of the game...am i right? Can someone plz explain, cuz i might just be blind...but i couldnt find the info anywhere else... Thx a lot! -------------------- <DrkMagimaster282> MWAHAHA. Well, first you have to go to the sprite cave and find him. Then you go back to the overworld, talk to Yang's wife, and she'll give you the Frying Pan. Go back and find Yang again, use the Frying Pan on him, and he'll wake up and you'll gain the Sylph summon. After you've awakened him, go back to visit his wife again, and she'll give you the Spoon.
But be careful, you can't get the Spoon unless you get it before FuSoYa joins your party, so make sure to do that sidequest before you visit the Lunar Palace for the first time. -------------------- |

I get it now, but is the spoon just another cool item like the @#$%mag you can find in the japanese version in the publishers room or something?

No, the Spoon is a throwing weapon for Edge that is guaranteed to do 9999 damage (or at least it has always done so for me) when you use it.

Well, I think (1) the spoon has 255 (i.e. maxed out) attack power, and (2) Darting/Throwing a weapon ignores the defense of the target; hence both together pretty much guarantee 9999 damage.
[mockery] Keep in mind that, after you give Yang's wife back the frying pan, that Yang likes eggs. Talk to her until she asks you what you want, and specify "a couple eggs". Then, feed it to Yang and he replaces his "Kick" move with his "Fury Fu" move, which does 10 times as much damage as "Kick". The spoon was only called the spoon in the US. If you play the PS1 game its called kitchen knife. I would assume it was changed because a kitchen knife sounds more violent. But wouldnt getting stabbed with a dull spoon be more violent then with a sharp kitchen knife

I believe it was simply "Knife" in FF4A.
J2E translated it to "Cleaver" which makes so much more sense than anything else. A meat cleaver will do alot of damage and is specifically meant to slice meat. -------------------- "I had to write four novels before they let me write comic books." -Brad Meltzer |
