I was attempting to get Cloud's Omnislash Limit at the Battle Square earlier (I succeeded, easier than I thought). I was playing through earning around 3,000 BP per 8 battles. The last 2 sets of 8 I fought, I earned over 10,000 BP. I was wondering why this was, and I came up with three possible reasons.

1. The times I earned over 10,000 I had the Handicap which disables all materia, I thought that this handicap might produce more BP.

2. The Tissue item makes the Battles harder at the Battle Square, I thought that maybe the more tissues earned (and therefore, the harder the battles) then the more BP earned per battle.

3. It was my 5/6 time in a row of completing all 8 battles, does this provide more BP?

Which one of these is the reason that the last 2 times I played produced so much BP?

Bigger handicaps = more BP.

I see. Guess I'll sell the Tissues and try to get the all broken materia handicap from now on then.

Tissues have nothing to do with the difficulty or battle points earned. But all materia broken does give a lot more battle points.

It was definitely the all materia broken thing. You want to shoot for that, especially in your last battle. I used to slow the slots and pick it everytime I could. As long as you have at least 2x or 4x cut, or slash-all then you rock the house and pick up lots of BP. I made an average of 12,000 BP doing that.

But the All materia broken handicap will get disable command materia.

Wont I have to pair 2 command materias up together for them to still work? Does it have to be the same command?

i think she means to get it on the final round of every battle if possible. basically, keep the 2x/4x cut or slash all materia til the last battle and tear ass on your opponents and then get all materia broken on the final round.

Yeah, sorry for not clarifying. If you are beat up pretty bad at the last battle and get the break all materia you're in for a world of hurt, so thats why the slash all thing helps until then. sad.gif

Can I ask whether it's true that if you leave battle sqaure you'll lose every single battle point you earned?

It is most definitely TRUE. Don't do it. That's why you should make sure you have a sufficient amount of GP before you go.

I do the battle square side quest after I finish the chocobo quest, I always take the GP after I win a race, once I have won whatever number of times, there's a lot of GP in my pocket to do the battle square sidequest!

Hope you're not referring to the motorcycle game. huh.gif If so you may be there for a hundred years before you get a lot of GP. We're talking racing chocobos and instead of taking the item, taking the GP. If I misunderstood what you said then sorry, but clarification always works just in case.

May be completely unrelated, but I was doing the battle square last night and I got nothing but 1/2 HP 1/2 MP individually and combined, and nothing else as far as slots. This had me a little upset, seeing as how I was reduced from max quad 9 status to a whelp by the final round. I think my final HP and MP max was like 500 something for HP and like 49 or so MP...upsetting.

Just thought I would share.

It's never been much of a problem, I managed to beat the final boss when my weapon had been broken three times, no materia on level 60 something.

One more problem, not really about the Battle Square, but when I try Chocobo racing, things are fine until I switch to manual mode, then my Chocobo automatically runs to the left side and stays glued to it. I thought it might be the Chocobo or my controller (wireless :/) so I changed both, still the same problem.

I know that Chocoracing is the quickest way

But I find G-Bike fun and I'm still not one of the most experienced Choco-tamers

Also, I only just played the Snowboard mini-game in the mountains, I'm barely off disk one

Hm, Meta--maybe your Chocobos are just, well, hardheaded? They are designed not to always do exactly what you "tell" them to (at least, that's been my experience). Have you fed them many greens that increase intelligence? Try just feeding them more, and if that doesn't work, it might just be your game. Really sorry, if that's the case.

it's has to be your chocobo's intelligence, feed it the best greens(10). then if you want to win races with even a bad chocobo, operate manually by pressing select. Also use the L1 L2 R1 R2 trick to replenish stamina (all you need to do is hold them all down).

When you get good at the snow boarding game it becomes a very efficient method of earning GP.

Yeha, three questions:
1) for the Time x30 damage, what is the scale for the time bar, is it to 100, or what?
2) do all the handicaps add a solid numerical amount of bp, or is it an added percentage, and what are they?
3) is there a bp bonus for advancing to the next round of the battle?

Edit: Added another question

Just a quick question. how do you slow down the handicap slots for the battle square because when i press square the command/slots menu disappears.

You have to rapidly tap square to slow down the slots. When you find the one you want to get press O one before it, with a bit of practise you will do it no problem

To answer some earlier questions,

Time x30 damage is hours played (on the game clock) multipled by 30. Verified with NA Greatest Hits release and I make no claims that other releasess will adhere to this.

All handicaps give a fixed amount of BP depending on the handicap and the round it was recieved in. In my opinion, only that last two rounds have BP amounts worth worrying about.

There is no extra bonus for advancing to the next round on top of stock BP awards.

Since this isn't widely known, selecting "No Way" after a successful round will count as a escape.

Oh yes, every enemy in the Special Battle except the second and the last is vulnerable to Sleep status. Make room for a loaded E. Skill for an easy time (hint, hint, Frog Song).
