I say they're both good, although Venus Gospel has more materia slots but Flayer's got more attack and has growth.

er... How about the javelin?

5 materia slots x double growth gives it 10 effective materia growth slots, making it best in the game for mastering materia.
Plus some are linked, so you can whack in the standard added effect=contain attack combination

That beats even Cloud's apalypse, which with 3 slots x triple comes in second at 9 effective growth slots.

Don't know about the rest of you, but when there are only two enemies that give out anyhting like the 50,000 AP the weapons do and you need to master KoR, shield etc for the huge materia blends, it certainly helps to double and triple them up...for a whopping 100-150 kAP.

Yeah, but it doesn't have a lot of attack compared to the other weapon.

Note that you can still use 2x cut or 4x cut for good damage.

venus gospel because if your mp if high so is your attack power atleast i think thats what it was

Maybe that Venus Gospel does have VERY high damage, but the materia growth on Flayer is pretty nice too.

In the end it will all boil down to materia growth. But how bout the Schmitar? triple growth, but only 2 slots. a draback? heck no!

Venus Gospel if I already have the materia I like mastered, Flayer if not. I forget which looks cooler, and since I can win with either, I guess I can decide which to use based on looks. I mean, that's the entire reason I use the Organics until endgame.

Since these are the most powerful weapons for Cid, that's why they're the choices. (I'm assuming.)

I've never gotten it, but I'm going for the Flayer. If it has the highest normal attack power for Cid, and it actually has Materia Growth, then yeah. I could care less about the 'Ultima Weapon' effect the Ultimate Weapons have. (Power depends on certain values.) If it has a high attack without some sort of requirement, and has Materia Growth, then yeah.

What about the dragoon lance? It's so damn cool. But I'll say Venus gospel, but thats only because i never got the flayer.

Venus Gospel, I never use magic/summons with Cid, so his MP is always full, it gives the weapon a nice boost that puts it above flayer damage-wise.

Yeah the dragoon lance is cooler and it fits with him but the Venus Gospel is stronger but most of the time I use the lance instead.

Scimitar (TRIPLE GROWTH FOR MATERIA)

if your fighting magic pots there's no need to worry about streangth, so once you get your materia all pumped up from fighting movers and Magic pots you'll be set. so hands down the Scimitar because if you give Cid some good materia and he has a weak attack, he can become the magic man of the game!

i think that the Venus Gospel's better if you want strength and materia slots and the Flayer is better if you want some decent materia growth.

I never use ANYTHING I get off an old man for free, so Venus Gospel is a no go.

For some of us, getting Flayer is at the end of a long and tedius adventure in the Gold Saucer. It is hugely rewarding. People who vote Venus Gospel without having got Flayer are a bit biased. Oh and growth as well.

Cid's best weapon is Spear! Animal

id say venus gospel i love that weapon since i just throw heaps of counter attack materias in and 2x cut and i wont b using magic so mp and damage stay up

Venus Gospel is much stronger, but if your MP leaks out, you're in trouble.
