The motion sensor as a vector control is alot better than ANOTHER directional. Come on, you only have 2 thumbs and there's 3 thumb buttons. Make up your mind, controller designers! The Wii is right on this one, replacing a direction with wrist motion.

Well, I was talking about the standard controller it has, not the remote thing.

The OP, or any gamer for that matter, might find this article interesting:
Death to the Games Industry: Long Live Games, Part I Part II It is over a year old now, but it is becoming more and more relevant as the next gen approaches. It talks about exactly what you are observing: huge increases in graphics budgets, companies not willing to take risk, and so forth. Here is a quote where is he talking about how graphics vs gameplay: Quote In other words: Pretty + bad = financially successful; good + not pretty = fuhggedaboutit. Of course, pretty + good would be nice - but neither the publishers nor the retailers have an incentive to care. He is saying that with the way publishers and retailers look at games and with the high cost of video games we have created an industry where innovation is deemed risky and glitz is the way to go. The article is a must read. You aren't the only one with the next-gen blues! This post has been edited by 1stclass on 26th May 2006 12:34 |

Quote (1stclass @ 26th May 2006 12:20) You aren't the only one with the next-gen blues! I guess man, I feel kinda down on myself. I remember trading in my Sega Genesis towards a brand spanking new PSX so I could play Warhawk and Twisted Metal. Looking back, I realize what I did. I traded in my plain, normal, average wife for a wife way younger than me, with tons of energy and humongous breasts. Im shallow, and the sad part is, I'll probably do it again! It's the polygons man, Lara Croft! Polygons! The most upper body polygon count back in her day. Damn DOA girls... you'll pay! Wow I really started rambling, huh? -------------------- Feeling unknown And youre all alone Flesh and bone By the telephone Lift up the receiver Ill make you a believer |

I used to be into the neat perks they promised for the PS2 and other systems when they started coming out, but when I think about it now it seems that the essential aspect is starting to become (and had started back then) downplayed. That is GAMES! I'm seriously considering skipping the PS3 entirely for that reason. Blue Ray DVD? What the hell do I need that for? Systems are too concerned with being "entertainment centres" rather than the gaming consols we all love. Nintendo has the right idea I think - focus on the games, expecially with the prospect of being able to download titles from their first few systems. That's awesome. I'm definitely getting myself a Wii when it comes out.
