Would you be a good god or an evil god?

If you were suddenly made a god or goddess, would you be an evil one or a good one (no neutrality)?

Ok, this is just a question that came into my mind today. If you were suddenly made a god (greek-style), and you had to choose between being good and being evil, with no neutrality, which would you pick?

I would totally be an evil god...and my endless legions of chocobos would carry out my orders lol

Seriously, I would probably tend to be more evil. Not on purpose, you understand.... but I believe that human character flaws, coupled with sudden divine powers.... would lend to corruption on a fairly large scale.

It'd probably change day-to-day - if I was in a good mood, there'd be sunshine lollipops, rainbows and mediocre metaphors everywhere, but then I always was the type of kid to burn things with a magnifying glass or put someone's hand in a bowl of warm water as they slept - really, I don't see how that's too different from causing a typhoon in China.

If I had to pick one or the other, however, I'd generally opt for being a benevolent God. I'd imagine torturing the souls of the damned and such would get a tad depressing after a while - though I'm all for acts of random cruelty, I suppose that in the long run I'd prefer harps and clouds and Philidelphia creamy spread.

If the people from my world are stupid enough to believe in and depend on a "higher power," they deserve an evil god. biggrin.gif Set 'em straight an' all...

Otherwise I'd like... create a world of fine cocktails, slow jazz, and cute girls. happy.gif I'd invite all the cool gods over and we'd chill.

Edit: I'd totally invite Mimic over first. biggrin.gif He's got all this god stuff down from the sounds of things. I'd invite him over and we'd chill and discuss the ups and downs of being a god while my followers serve us margaritas and pretzels.

Wow, I'd be the worst thing to happen to the world, ever.
I'd blow things up for my own entertainment, people would stop living past the age of 30, small children would be kept out of my sight, or I'd turn them into zombie lamas, I'd basically turn the world into my own personal game of RISK and keep myself entertained for hours.

Well I'd have to change my religion to a polytheistic one first. Then, since in my current religion, polytheism and idol worship are sins, I'd have to be an evil God. Not because I wanted to, but those are some pretty serious crimes in Judaism. Plus, I'm lazy, and apathy (that's the word, right?) is frowned upon as well.

So, evil.

Honestly, after playing Black and White, I've come to the conclusion that I would TRY to be a good god, but sadly, I would just fuck up.

You know, I'd be TRYING to help, but hell if I don't accidentally jetison someone into the water, or get distracted and throw rocks around like a lunatic.

Think that episode of Futurama with Bender when he becomes god for those little people that land on him from the asteroid.

I don't have time to be merciful to these pathetic, ignorant human beings. I'd just make everyday a living hell for them anyway, so yeah, evil god ftw.

Good, and I guess I'm almost alone on that one.

I would play practical jokes, like dropping Fat Chocobos on people. Hardly "evil".

I would try very hard to be good. The biggest hurdle to overcome would be in forcing myself to exercise restraint rather than forcing people to do right.

I'd try to be good, but pretty soon I'd hire other people to be assitant gods or quit. I doubt I'd be able to sacrifice my ability to find lots of time for myself, just to look after everything, and also in a world like this. However, I'd have alot of fun turning really bad people into flowers, make that edible flowers, and if they were bad because they wanted to be flowers, I would take no responsibility if they were eaten.

I'd so totally be evil 'cuz no matter where you are, what timezone you're in, or what circumstances you're under there's bound to be pricks not too awfully far away. You could be as good as you want, you'd still get disrespected and crapped on. If I were a god, I'd be an evil S.O.B and relish every minute of it. Every living things has a share of friends and enemies so the way I see it, if you're going to be hated by someone, make them hate you for a damn good reason!

It all depends. I'd be a good god only becuase the survivors would regard me as one or else.

For a start, they'd rename FF11 FF online, and make 12 11 and since , y'know, I'm omnipotent I'd make FF Online actually worthwhile. Free play, scrap everything that's in place now, three tiers of gameplay (Medieval, swords and sorcery nonsense, Modern, Guns Guns Guns and magic, Space Age, "if this is the future where are all the laser guns?") and cameos from previous games.

Kingdom Hearts would be drastically altered.

There would be other changes as well, most of them involving altering the fabric of space and time in ways that make no sense but will be amusing to watch.

I think it would almost be impossible for a human to comprehend how to be a good God, yeah they could try, but I pretty much guarantee they would fail in so so many ways, thus one way or another, a lot of people would think your evil.

So might as well aim for that and enjoy it I say! Would probably ironically end up doing more good that way too. No need to be too cruel, just make sure things are entertaining.

Let's hope none of us end up getting those God like powers after reading this thread, lol.

Too late. sad.gif

It's cool though. I just created a small race of floating squids and had them fight to the death for my own entertainement. The whole godhood thing wore off after they had exterminated all but one member of their species (whom I ate.)
