E3 approaches
So what developer/publisher/console showings are you excited for this year. Wii supposedly has their big secret they're revealing in their confrence on tuesday, and PS3 will undoubtedly swamp us with high polygon models with their confrence late monday night. Gamespot is doing live feeds on the affermentioned 2, so you could probably check them out here. Unfortunatley, no M$ live feed. It's not like they have anything except a 2 minute Halo trailor anyway. Are there any particular games anyon'es excited for? I'm looking out for MGS4, GoW2, Red Steel, whatever Wii games we've been expecting (MP3, SSB, Mario, new IPs by Shiggy). I really think this E3 is gonna be legendary. So, anyone else as pumped as me? Do I detect some bias in that post against Microsoft?
I personally can't wait to see some more 360 games announced, and more shown (Forza 2, Halo 3, Too Human etc. etc.). And I can't wait to play some of the exclusively show floor demos for 360 over Xbox Live (I'm hoping to be able to play some Dead Rising and Lost planet). But the Nintendo conference has me excited as well. Metroid Prime 3, Mario 128, Super Smash Bros., Red Steel, OH MY! Not to mention Nintendo's BIG secret! Which is why I'm guessing lots of games have been kept underwraps because they will all take advantage of this 'big secret' and so they can't talk about them until Nintendo reveals it. |

I'm excited about both the Revolution and the PS3. I'm not particularly absorbed by any one thing, but definitely looking for whatever they've got to show

Quote (Kane @ 7th May 2006 19:23) I'm excited about both the Revolution and the PS3. I think you mean Wii. A product of such original and excellent advertisement deserves the respect of a correct naming. I suppose all I'm interested in seeing is the new Super Smash Bros. game, since it is supposed to be online. That will be hot. I might also be interested in the new next-gen Mario game, but that's only if they don't make it Super Mario 64 with a new environment and a slightly different gameplay mechanic (i.e. Super Mario Sunshine). If you have the guts to call the darn thing the Wii, let's see some ingenuity in the flagship of your company! I'd also like to see 60 year old Snake kicking ass and taking names in MGS4, along with GoW2, but as of now I'm only considering a PS3, so Sony isn't on the top of my priority list right now. XBox360...uhh...yeah. ![]() -------------------- I find your lack of faith disturbing... |

They're all pretty interesting. The Revolution/Wii and PS3 are pretty self-explanatory, and Mistwalker is developing games for the 360. So...meh.

Not all that interested in the 360, but I'm psyched about the PS3 and Wii.New SSB? New Zelda? YEAH! Also, I'm hoping for Mother 3. If their is any chance of it coming here, I believe that E3 holds that chance.

I'll give the obligitory run down of how I think the press conferences went.
The Wii had such an awesome press conference. The opening alone, with Shiggy getting Shiggy with it and Excite trucks and Red steel being shown. I said "wow". When I saw how much third party support there actually was, I realized that if Nintendo is gonna fail this generation, it's not gonna be for the same reasons they failed the last two. The only problem I had with the entire conference was the announcement of two different versions of LoZ:TP. I want both control schemes damnit. ![]() As for M$'s press conference, it sure was more than I expected. Them announcing GTA from day one means Sony just lost one of it's biggest trump cards already. And slowly easing into a PC gaming position means that Windows Vista, DirectX10 and their crysis demo had me drooling. And even that demo is supposedly running off of DirectX9. And how about that Halo 3 trailor? Sony's press conference? Eh. The whole thing was dragged out and so poorly rehearsed any good points they made were lost in the crap that was stabbing crabs in the stomach for MASSIVE DAMAGE (anyone who doesn't get that last remark must download the footage of Sony's press conference and watch the absolute crap that was the Genji 2 demo. NOW) Most of the demos they had were either CGI or easily matched by other Xbox 360 games. Even the Gran Turismo HD demo was nowhere near as good as the already released PGR3 for the Xbox 360. The two best demos were probably the FFXIII trailor (which I'm not sure if it's real time or not, but I've heard it is) and the Heavenly Sword trailor (which they emphasized is real time). And when I saw they were using an accelerometer in their conroller I lost it for a little bit, there was no reasoning with me. Then I realized it wasn't at all comparable to Nintendo's controller. It's the equivilant of what they put in the left handed part of the nunchuck attatchment. And can they have badass gun/sword fights with it? I think not. Just my two cents. -------------------- "We're not tools of the government or anyone else. The fact that square decided to do another crystal chronicles game and not do a tactics game for the DS is beyond me. even still, im mainly looking at FFV & VI, mainly because thats the only thing i can afford.
The wii looks (surprisingly) amazing. Maybe ill convince my girlfriend that I love her that much... -------------------- Can you pull down the dawn? Dear sir: I do not give a rat's bottom about Mario games, thus I fear we are at a stalemate. To resolve the issue I feel the only course of action is to make circa 1999 jokes about each other's mothers, or some similar battle of wits. Failing that, I could make the humorus reaisation that "Wii" and "Wee" as in urine are identical, not "Wee" as in small as it is simply not even pretending to be amusing when one makes such a clear and obvious statement that the Wii is small. In all seriousness, MGS4 looks good, PS3 looks good, but there's frankly bugger all at E3 that really is of major intrest. FF13's a mild curiosity, but it'll be like 2009 before it's out. PS3's more a vanguard of the true force about to arrive IMO. But on the whole, so far, all we have seen is photos of the pretty colours, but not a true demonstration of shock and awe to truly think it's anything actually new. -------------------- "Only the dead have seen the end of their quotes being misattributed to Plato." -George Santayana "The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here..." -Abraham Lincoln, prior to the discovery of Irony. |

GWOHOHO!~~~ At any rate, I thought that the PS3's impressive graphical boast was well done, the power it displayed was simply astounding. What pretty much sold me entirely was the beautiful and masterfully done MGS4 trailer. Jaw-dropping. Best trailer I've seen so far, without a doubt. I don't know much about the 360's press conference, so I'm going to assume that it was more lolhalo3rox and hayguyslookatallourmoney. -------------------- I find your lack of faith disturbing... |

Wow, E3 2006 rocks hard.
I plan to buy both a Wii and PS3 at launch, and this show is only making me more and more excited. There is sooooooooo much to spend money on! Nintendo Wii -Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (zomg looks so freakin great...Ridley's back!) -Super Mario Galaxy -The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (best idea ever!) -Red Steel (graphics...so..pretty!) -Sonic Wild Fire Playstation 3 -Resistance: Fall of Man (proof that Killzone 2 wasnt a lie) -Warhawk -Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (nuff said) -Final Fantasy XII (most beautiful thing ever) -Heavenly Sword (coughGodofWarcough) XBox 360 -Gears of War (sorry fanboys....thats reall all there is) But seriously folks, we all know what E3 is about this year: Super Smash Bros! Well, I cant wait anyway. Not only that, but FFVII is coming to PS3 (which was leaked in an interview that has been pulled from the internet). But honestly, for me, this E3 is about one game: Resident Evil 5. Yep. The sequel to the best-made game of all time. Here's to you, Capcom. How's about a playable demo on the show floor, huh? -------------------- "Dance, water, dance!" -Demyx, Kingdom Hearts II "I met my love before I was born..." -AFI, 'Love Like Winter' from 'Decemberunderground' Currently Playing: Guitar Hero, Shadow of the Colossus |

I hope you plan on working LOTS of extra hours for that PS3 Shinjutsei.
I'd rather just play my 360 I already own and buy a Wii for the same price. "XBox 360 -Gears of War (sorry fanboys....thats reall all there is)" Yeah except for Fable 2 (announced for 360), Too Human (beggining of the Silicon Knights Trilogy), Enchanted Arms (stunning RPG), Blue Dragon (From the creator of Final Fantasy 1-10), Grand Theft Auto 4 (announced to be available for 360 the day it comes out), Dead Rising (Open ended Capcom zombie game), Prey (From the Creator of Quake and Doom been in development since 1995) and many more but I digress. Ok I know that list was kind of overkill, just correcting Shinjutsei's mistake though. The only game that I want for the PS3 at this point is FF XIII but there is no way in hell I'd pay 660$ to have it. 360 and Wii for me. Edit Also Shin, more bad news no FF VII for PS3 announced, and so far nothing from RE 5 (can't wait to get it on my 360) just FF XIII and a FF XIII spinoff This post has been edited by Phunbaba on 11th May 2006 03:46 |

In short, that wasn't overkill, that was getting your first and only strike taken out whilst NORAD lines up the retaliation. I though all Halobox had was the Same Old Stuff that is Halo 3, personally. Still, each to their own. But I'd buy a bomb shelter with the savings. -------------------- "Only the dead have seen the end of their quotes being misattributed to Plato." -George Santayana "The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here..." -Abraham Lincoln, prior to the discovery of Irony. |
