Quoted for truth. It's possible to beat the weapons without taking any damage with a few well-mastered mime materias, in fact.

And KotR? WAY too easy. I wish Square had never put it in the game and just settled for a multi-target high-damage single-hit summon instead, maybe with a status ailment or two thrown in to differentiate it from the other end-game summons.

The weapons are a joke. Most of FF7, once on disk 3, is a joke. It's too easy - they give you WAY too much material to make the game ridiculously easy. :/

If you avoid the use of mime and KotR, the weapons are a bit harder. Decently hard, but nothing too fancy. Good equipment (and as few materia as possible, in Emerald's case) will help with the damage. A nice stock of phoenix downs and some well-filled enemy skill materias will make for a decent, yet quite tedious, battle.

Yeah, maybe a boss that has millions of HP and does like 99,999 damage with every attack on the whole party every 5 seconds with you trying to desperately attack it while healing your party is hard. But with most optional bosses, they have some sort of attack pattern that leads to their doom. And they usually give you super power attacks and abilities that make it all the easier, if not tedious, to win. Although I personally can't stand sitting through some long summon animation just for damage I could easily do with a Limit Break and Counter/Mime. Even 4XCut is better than summoning, Imo.

I hated fighting the Weapons. Someone already used the word tedious, and I agree. I'll fight the one you have to fight multiple times, and that's more than enough for me.

I haven't beaten any of the others, though I did try once.

Well sure they are easy with KotR, Quad Magic, and Mime. But just regular fight without a repetitive techinique like those, emerald can post a challenge even at level 100

The Weapons are not too hard.

But you can make them too hard...
Set yourself a challenge - or better still do it with a freind.

For example, I'm doing the "Emerald Challenge" which I've explained in a thread I've created.
You should try it too. To do it you need to fight Emerald the VERY first time you can.
This means disc 2 with no Gelinka and no Final Attack which should be fun!

My point is that you can set your own difficulty depending on what you want to get out of the battle.

They were such a let down. sad.gif

I used to be stuck at them when I was like 8 or so, but now I'm older I didn't die once. After I beat them, I lost the will to level up my characters to 99, there was nothing left to do, I knew aslong as I could beat the weapons I could beat anything else.

I think there should be an age/skill sort of unwritten code that we should all stand by.

When I was 8 or so, beating the weapons with Final Attack/KotR is the best thing in the world (nearly).

Now that I'm 17, these tactics just don't equal any fun. I have tried to fight the Weapons in the hardest way possible. The most fun way was Buster/single character/no acc/Bronze Bangle/no materia. I've only beaten Emerald once this way (with only 50 seconds to go!).

In this case, the Weapons were hard.

That just sounds like something a crazy person would do....nice job.

The WEAPONS are certainly not too difficult as most people here can attest to. I mean, once you get how they work, they're pushovers..............nasty 1,000,000 HP pushovers, but pushovers none-the-less

I enjoy the fights against the weapons as long as I do not use the cheap materia and abilities that are in the game... i.e. KoTR.

I thought they were pretty hard and I'm not afraid to admit it. Maybe they should consider making difficulty levels for the game and you guys can play it on Ultra Hard mode or something. That would keep you busy.

Ruby and Emerald are a little chalange so they should be a little tough.

But too hard no way. With the right mind and right materia you should wipe those weapons of the planet. happy.gif

why the hell would any body give ruby weapon a hero drink dont they raise stats for 1 fight, if so ruby would be harder

the rest except emerald were a ride on a roller coaster

emerald i had 2 master mime materia and KoTR quadra magic- bahamut zero and my omnislash, quite easy seeming i tryed other strategies b4 and died trying. i had 1:24 on my timer left.

big bummer: i didnt know of the underwater materia till after i killed emerald weapon

ps:equip all your characters with these acceseries; touph ring or championship belt

these raise your pwr a bit and will let your damages be sky high if added with good lv's and stats!!!

Emerald isn't that hard you just gotta use some strategy

I just beat him today - I gave all 3 character lucky 7's and barret and cloud had limits ready before the battle, then tifa did w-summon KOTR, and barret mimed her. Took about 5 minutes, but the prep. took about 20 minutes.

Um, methinks that was the point...he was telling you that in case you found the fight too easy.
Anyhow, I found Emerald sort of difficult. But then, he and Ruby should be. As was mentioned earlier, they aren't bosses you have to defeat (they don't even get special boss music). Kinda like, bonuses. The reward for defeating Emerald is good, and very helpful, though you can get by without it. It's kind of an extra thing they put in there for people who found the rest of the game easy, and wanted a bit more of a challenge. Plus, it's fun seeing how many different ways you can defeat them. Those battles have to be more strategy-based than the others, since simply beating your head against them until they die doesn't usually work (trust me, I've tried). Though, for that I wish they'd been able to include them earlier in the game...

Well for normal charachters its su[pposed to be challenging. now when youve spent 60 hours in the game and youre barely on disc 2 itd be easy. theirs strategies fro everything and you know theyre stats are higher than Sephiroth.

I actually feel pure envy for people who find the weapons hard. I don't think I'm alone here, but I must've fought Emerald and Ruby about 50 times in total. By now they're just a time or low character test. If you still find the weapons hard, it is absolutly no reason to feel ashamed.

Thanks Rhea, yeah the point of the Hero Drinks is to make Ruby a challenge. 5 is quite ambitious but have a go!

The weapons can be hard, it just depends on your tactics.Using KoTR or Final Attack make it too easy, as does counter/mime/Ungarmax.

Set yourself a challenge.Eg No Materia,Initial Equip Only etc.
