hmm... i'm a little hesitant to add Disney in the title but... anyways about a year ago i was bored and i d/led and burned a whole bunch of disney songs to a CD. On canadian idol on wednesday someone sang a song from beauty and the beast, and it reminded me of this CD so today i am listening to it, and i am curious as to what your favorite disney song is... it doesn't matter whether you watch disney movies anymore but there has got to be that one song that just stood out and that you remember.
My favorite Disney song is 'Why Should I Worry' from Oliver and Company (written and sung by Billy Joel)... it was just so classy (at the time) and just made the movie so much better and to me it's a plot of how life should be lived... Well, sometimes when I'm on the phone with my gf at night, she'll get scared or whatever because it's night and nobody's home so I'll play "A Whole New World" from Aladin for her. Nostalgia is good.

Well I think all the goody little kiddy songs suck but Pirates of the Carribean, a Disney movie had a sweet soundtrack so if that counts.

I second The Little Mermaid. I actually can't stand the movie (got burnt out on it when it was first released...however long ago that was), but I love the music. Any song would apply.

A Whole New World... no contest... other than that there aren't very many that I like in the first place. Uhhh... maybe. Nah, I think that's all. All that I can think of right now anyway.

Oh man, I just rewatched Tarzan recently, and I love Phil Collin's soundtrack that goes with it. It sounds really cool, and I think that the one on there that N*SYNC write is possibly their greatest song ever, but that's not saying much, is it?

Hmmm...
1. Part of Your World - Little Mermaid 2. I Won't Say I'm in Love - Hercules 3. Why Should I Worry - Oliver and Company 4. Under the Sea - Little Mermaid 5. Beauty and the Beast - Beauty and the Beast Yeah, the Little Mermaid freaking rules. Easily the best Disney soundtrack ever, and up there with Undercover Brother, Little Nicky, and Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels for best soundtrack, period. I also liked everything on the Prince of Egypt movie... But that was Dreamworks, not Disney... Ahh well. -------------------- TURKEY! - (The only way not to get blocked for using Fowl Language) |

I'll hide behind a wall and say that Beauty and the Beast is my favorite Disney film, and Beauty and the Beast and No One's Like Gaston are my favorites in this film. I also like the Dead Pirates' song from Pirates of the Caribbean.

My favorite Disney song of all time is pretty much the entire soundtrack to Beauty and the Beast, especially the titular theme. My second-favorite is probably the Circle of the Life song from The Lion King.
However, I have to also mention "I'll Make a Man Out of You" from Mulan. SO many double entendres. Oh, and I loved the Tarzan soundtrack, mostly because they had a percussive do-wop song and the entire soundtrack done by Phil Collins, who is excellent. -------------------- |

Lot's of Lion King and Aladin songs. And many others. They certainly put the effort in when it comes to their music. I think it's great stuff! I haven't listened to any for a while now but I still know it's classic.

I noticed nobody even mentions pre-"Little Mermaid" tracks, except for the Zipadedoda song. Why is that? I think that songs from that period and on are too over done. Disney used to have songs that one could sing along to easily. Now all the Billy Joel and Elton John tunes are bombasting there way through the movies and just making them too painful to watch/listen to. My personal favourite is "Once Upon a Dream," from Sleeping Beauty. I'm always singing that. And who can forget "We Are Siamese" from Lady and the Tramp? Those were the good days (and still pre-me).

^^ That reminds me, the music in Sleeping Beauty is awesome. Well, maybe not - near the beginning of the movie there's this annoying chorus that always repeats whatever's just been said (as in one of the fairy's says "My gift shall be the gift of beauty" and then disembodied chorus sings the word "beauty" like twice over thirty seconds; it's werid) - but the rest of the movie is pretty much straight from the Tchaikovsky ballet, which has some really beautiful music, especially "Once Upon a Dream" and the kings' drinking song "Scomps".

Quote (ultimage @ 1st May 2006 19:23) I noticed nobody even mentions pre-"Little Mermaid" tracks, except for the Zipadedoda song.  Why is that? Actually, your comment reminded me of one of my all-time favorite Disney movies which also contains entirely spectacular renditions of orchestrated classical music (and I'm quite surprised it hasn't yet been mentioned): Fantasia!! (Oh, and a few mentioned tracks from Oliver & Company, circa 1988. The Little Mermaid came out in 1989). Coincidentally, my other favorite Disney movies are all pre-The Little Mermaid as well, among which include The Fox and the Hound, Bambi, Dumbo, Robin Hood, Lady and the Tramp, and The Black Cauldron. However, with the exception of the aforementioned Fantasia, I'm not much a fan of any of those films' soundtracks. Sure, there're maybe one or two songs from Robin Hood and Dumbo, put together, that I'm a bit fond of, but that's 'bout it. Disney songs, the memories. Some of my favorites were "Friend like Me" from Aladdin, "Hakuna Matata" from Lion King, the last song from Dumbo (the Crow song), and "Friend in Me" from Toy Story. -CSM
