Well, every once in a while I probably will do a perfect game just because I am bored, but most of the time no. It makes the game too easy and you just kinda lose interest once you have everything in the game and your saying to yourself "Kefka won't be a challenge, so why should a even beat him if I already know i've won? He's not really a challenge any other time." I accually like doing the challenges where you are limited and cannot have certain things. So right now, I haven't done a perfect game in about a year or so. I like a challenge most of the time, but every once in while yes just because I become lazy. LOL biggrin.gif

I try to fill my time with more useful goals than seeing "99" next to my character's name instead of "93." wink.gif

If I can complete every side-quest and finish the game, I feel I've done everything worth doing. At best I might try to get every spell/ability to see what they're like, but won't bother taking things much further than that.

Perfect Games are by far the most time consuming redundant boring thing to do. I tried leveling all my characters to 99 and lost major interest. It's very interesting to see Umaro take out Tyranasaurs by himself, but after that it gets a bit boring.

I would collect all the equipment, all the espers, check out all the spells on one or two run throughs of the game, but after that, the only thing I bother to get everything of are the espers.

Getting 100% of the equipment is nonsense - way too time consuming.
100% of the best equipment (IE Two Red Jackets, 2 Minervas, Atma Weapon, Illumina...) in the game is another story.

But, seriously, anyone that does a perfect game has too much free time on their hands and no idea how to spend it. Do an SCC, or the CES challenge, or a LLG, natural magic, or original equipment game - they mean more than spending countless hours in the Dinosaur Forest.

That's just my opinion

I disagree. Doing those challenges means countless hours of resetting, unless you cheat and use save states which people have unfortunately labeled acceptable in those challenges. It's not a challenge if you can just reload your state until you get it right, and if you're on a console, no one likes to try 87 times getting through one part in the game that would normally take you 15 minutes in a normal game, that would end up taking days. Also, it doesn't mean more, because if you get it wrong, you have to reset and that time is wasted.

I believe a perfect game is a record of all the time you spent on the game all added up. Those challenge games are records of difficult tasks you have completed, but the actual time it took you to complete them is usually not represented in the game, just that you did them. Of course, it's always nice to try those challenges if you believe you are worthy, but the perfect game challenge is the basis of all challenges and should not be overlooked either. It ends up all about personal preference.

The only problems with the perfect game challenge that I have are the degree of perfection and the constant restarting of the entire game due to missing one little item. I've experienced this countless times, especially in FF6 regarding lores and rages. Also it depends on your definition of "perfect". Some would say getting all characters to level 99 with all magic would be perfect. Others would add all rages, lores, and skills. Still others would add at least one of every item...and finally, the most ridiculous of all challenges (but one I am attempting) the max everything challenge. Max stat boosts, max gil/steps, ALL attainable skills, magic, max exp, and the maximum number of every attainable item in game. This type of challenge is one that is extremely boring and redundant and requires absolute perfect game knowledge, and most likely anyone who tries this challenge has gone through the entire game 8+ times. However, the "learn all magic spells and reach level 99" perfect game challenge doesn't take too long, and can be done in the WoR so there is nothing you can really do to have to start your game over, unless you vanish/x-zone Doom Gaze and don't get Bahamut.
