This is a fanart of Laguna I made, can you guys give me constructive criticism and what-not? I'd really appreciate it!

Nice.
I like the face detail on the drawing. Hands look a little too small, his *right* foot looks awkwardly positioned (I think it'd look better if it was diagonal instead of horizontal) and shirt, jacket, and pants needs folds. Other than that, not bad. Quote If we hate FFVIII, then we hate Laguna too because he's in FFVIII.. Well, in KH and KH2 aswell, but you get my point Edit: Yeah, you all hate FFVIII. But you have to at least like Laguna. ![]() |

Yeah, I have a problem putting proper natural folds in clothes
![]() But thank you for your comments! I also thought the hands were kinda funky as well. But my real problem is the machine gun, I've never been good at drawing guns for some reason. And the one he has in the game is unrealistically large...well, a gun sword is pretty unrealistic too ![]() -------------------- |

![]() The biggest problems I see are: #1 The hair's too sparce on his left and back side of his head (looks like that whole side is shaved, punk-style...or whatever), which can easily be fixed by darkening the lighter area just like the rest of the hair. #2 I would say that the left arm's rather puny, but, honestly, I think the head is just a bit too big for the body (even so, the puny arm thing MIGHT still be the case, though...not sure). Not too bad, though. Outside of #1, at least, he looks like Laguna and, I guess, that's the point. Btw, for some reason, I dig the shadows by his feet ![]() -------------------- |

Not bad. It's awesome to see FFVIII fanart here. As far as criticism however, there's nothing I can add that hasn't already been said except thanks for posting fanart of one of my favorite Final Fantasy characters

This is a really really crappy drawing of Kitten Sith I made, I was in a rush. I just really wanted to draw him as a cat, not like he looks in the game...or something. (I know that it's really sketchy, and the slot machine isn't parallel, but I wanted to draw a kitty
![]() Can you destroy Emerald Weapon in 30 seconds? I think not! ![]() Here's one of a better, Nomura styled, watercoloured Kitten Sith. The paint is kinda sloppy though, but I like it better than the Cat-like one. I'm better at watercolours anyway... ![]() Kitten Sith! As far as Laguna goes, the only thing i can say is the baggy pants make me think of Prince of Persia for some reason lol
Alot of people say I look like Laguna... lol So I can't complain about any attempt made at his personification, unless I guess, it was extremely poor in nature. No criticism, Constructive or not, for the Cait Sith Water Color, It's Much better then anything I could even attempt at lol Oh, And the Black Mage Sketch reminds me of a Scare-Crow ![]() -------------------- Quote <FrPhoenix[Around]> "Burgleburgleburgle" |

Here's a sketch of Kefka I did, it's not that great. Meaning it sucks. But I only did it in like 10 minutes, and I just wanted a sketch anyway. So..meh. Wait, this is a long link title. Well, now it's even longer...wait. Oops. Sorry.
I got the idea from this Amano picture in the guide book here. Is that...leg...pose? even natural? Well, not like my anatomy is that great either, so...meh. ![]() I'll probably do a real Kefka drawing later, maybe in watercolours, because I love those so much. Maybe that cool white/black/blue/red/I wonder what the conflicting colours symbolize/cool outfit he has. -------------------- |

On the black mage one, I think the poor guy is leaning too far back. Circus clowns can do that because they've got clips on their shoes, but I think it would be excruciatingly painful for anyone else to try that without special shoes. Try making them more upright.

Wow! An update. Well, I needed practice, and all sorts of ideas came to mind. One of 'em was Miluda, what an interesting character.
Possible spoilers: highlight to view It's too bad she dies, like a million other people in that game. Oh well. :/ The Lady of the Death Corps CC please! Although I do think her legs look weird. It's probably because of the weird...thing they have on the bottom of their armor. (What is that called?) Maybe I'll do more FFT characters next! They sure are interesting. Quote (Zeromus_X @ 5th June 2006 19:35) CC please! Well, since you asked... All I can say, w/o getting really specific, is, anatomy wise, there is a proportion issue between the upper torso/head and the limbs (i.e. limbs aren't long enough, hands aren't big enough, etc.). I'm also little worried about the sword's size ![]() Also, that stray lock of hair is the only thing that, you know, says that's Miluda. She also has lighter hair than one might guess by looking at your drawing (would have helped if you hadn't saturated her hair with all those lines, IMO). Hope that helps some. -------------------- |

I thought as much.
![]() Yeah, I guess that's my problem. I was worrying about the hands too, and the legs in my above post. And I did make her hair a bit different. Well, I'm glad it's just a sketch then! Although, regarding the sword, what's wrong with it's size? I thought it looked awkward, but not too big. (I didn't think it looked...correct like that, but I wasn't sure.) I don't think it looks like it's...inside the belt. Well, there's still more drawings! Thanks for your imput! -------------------- |

This is the first part of a work in progress, a Pirate Red Mage. It isn't done yet though, it's just the first drawing. I still don't know if the left hand is okay, and I need to spruce up his belt/sash/thing a bit more, and then I'll use watercolours. (And the eye patch...)
Plundering and Haste? It doesn't get much better than a Pirate Red Mage! -------------------- |

Yeah, really all I can say is that the left hand looks quite unnatural... but otherwise good job!

Here's part two.
Some of the paint is rather sloppy, and I sorta messed up on the face (making it too dark). Well, I don't imagine all pirates have the best looking faces anyway. -------------------- |

Well, I did read up on how people make forms from different shapes in different books and in art classes, and I just kinda went on from there. I've also tried doing the 'stick-figure than build on it slowly' thing (whatever you want to call it), but it's always easier this way. (To me, anyway.) I've actually been working on this for now, and see if I can actually turn it into something, and maybe fix the hair. I've decided I'm really not comfortable with graphite. (My shading is always just off or something.) Watercolours ftw.
Yeah, see, time to call it a night. I'm rambling. But yeah, there's your overblown explanation. =3 -------------------- |

The first piece is of Relm; I need to fix up her hood to connect to her cape or something...I plan on filling in the background when I paint it. I planned on putting many pieces of paper (or something) in the background.
The second is a sketch of Edgar. I need to fix his left hand or make it go back somehow. And maybe make the cape look like it goes over his right leg (if that makes sense). Edit: It won't let me put on more than one attachment. I'll just link to them. http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i166/Zer...irelmsketch.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i166/Zer...edgarsketch.jpg And some less than great other sketches:\ Zande: http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i166/Zer...zandesketch.jpg More Paladin Cecil: http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i166/Zer...lsolidified.jpg That's it for now. I am some-what of an artist, but whatever I learn comes form my brother! He is an awesome artist!
I like the one of Magus the most, but his arms and body seem a little to small. When I think of Magus, I don't think over-powered, but sort of a muscular person. Try it in color next time and it might look even better, but nice job!! ![]() P.S.) Like this...... The best one you've done so far is Cait Sith water colors, I like it.
I like how you made the moogle a little more burly and less chub than in the amano art. The only thing that seems off about it is that Cait Sith's face looks a little squashed. Other than that Really good piece of fanart. -------------------- "Have you ever seen a baby do that before?" |
