I heard there is a way to replace Gau with Kefka in the game. I don't remember the site I found that at and I have looked everywhere for that cheat code. I really does make Gau turn into Kefka with Gau's rages. If anyone can find this site or give me info., could you post it here. Thanx!

There is no cheat that turns gau into kefka
the only way to play a game with gau as kefka would be to change their sprites using a sprite editor on a rom.

I'd imagine it being possible with a Game Genie, maybe. I could be wrong, since I don't know much about sprites or coding and what not. The only other way I'd know would be with a sprite/save editor and a rom that would let you do that sort of thing.

There's no actual in-game code to turn Gau into Kefka though, of that I'm certain. It would be pretty ridiculous anyways.

No, it's possible because I have done it before, but I just can't find the site. I have probably been to over 100 sites and still none of them look like the site I found it at. It's pretty cool seeing Kefka doing rages, casting magic, and acctually being a good guy for once in his life. It is suppose to allow Kefka to take Gau's place in the game, perminately!! So, please if you have any info., post it here. Thanx for helping!

I can gaurantee you that without the use of some editing or hacking device, there's not a single possible way you could have replaced Gau with Kefka. The reason you can't find this code anywhere online is because it doesn't exist, otherwise most of us would already know about it, especially the members of this board who know the inner-workings of the game intimately, it would've been surfaced by now.

To paraphrase the now immortal words of Silverlance,

It's called the "Game Genie" key item......

I once used a Game Shark to change Setzer's sprite to Kefka only the color pallet stayed to that of Setzer and it changed the status menu's image into Terra's. That is the only way that you can "have" Kefka in your party. As the others have said before me- there is no way to have Gau be replaced with Kefka in the perameters of an untaineted/unaltered FF6 game.

Never mind, I found it and it really works too. I was just typing in the wrong thing! I ended up finding it at over 20 sites, what are the odds? It is a cheat code, so it IS possible. Thanx for the help anyway!

There it is in black and white. Just scroll down a little and you'll eventually see them. There are also some codes to get Leo on your team and have him perfect and also take over one of your character's body (can't remember which one it is, though). I have found other sites with other cheats you wouldn't imagine. Ask me some codes you would like to exist and I will see if they do and put the web page on here for you. I never denied the fact it had to do with Game Genie. Some people just said that there was "no way" and it was "impossible". I never said you could/couldn't do it with Game Genie. I prefer hacking, myself. Just wanted to show it "WAS" possible!

We said that it was impossible to be done without the use of a Game Genie. Infact, we said that it was impossible solely as an IN-GAME code that could be done without some form of external help, like a hacking program from the rom or a Game Genie.

Thus it does not qualify as a "cheat code" that you called it, but rather a hack.
Anyway, we're way off topic here and I don't see the point in arguing this any further since you found the hack you were looking for.

Ok, I see what you are saying now. Thanx for the info. and trying to help Dragon_Fire! I repay you someday if you need me.

Oh, I forgot to say something! Does anyone like the fact of having Kefka or Leo in your party? I know Leo's Picture is hard to look at, but he is a strong character either way. But for Kefka, you get to choose his 4 actions whether it be with the Metik magic, magic, shock, steal, ect. Tell me, does anyone like the idea?
