Actually, let's make this a 2-part thread. First, I've noticed that you can fight Sigfried in Dragon's Neck. You wager a Megalixir and I think you're supposed to get a Tintinabar. Sigfried is a monster. I tried everyone in my party against him. He might fight fair for a couple of turns, but then he uses this attack called HyperDrive (not like Kefka's) which does 6000+ damage. So my first question is has anyone beaten Sigfried, and if so, how?
Second, I'll just ask the generic "what's the hardest Coliseum battle?" I think I usually lose when I fight against a Doom Dragon. They do "Fallen One", my character attacks (stupid non-controllable fights) and then the Doom Dragon just strikes them no matter how high my evasion. -------------------- You don't scare me, you talking blobs of oozing slop! Yeah, PS version. I think my last fight with him was Mog with Dragon Horn/Boots, and equipped with the Pearl Lance, Snow Muffler, and Force Shield. Can't remember what else he had. I was thinking it might be an Elemental attack, but so far, nothing I've done makes it do less than 6000 damage.

HyperDrive as used by Kefka and Siegfried is the same spell, it's just that Siegfried is more powerful than Kefka magic-wise (his level's lower, but Kefka only has 8 Mag.Pwr so his damage turns out pathetic anyway). Runic is its only real weakness; for all intents and purposes, it may as well be a slightly less powerful version of ShadowFang (Shadow's desperation). See the attack guide and monster stats guide for more.
Your only defensive options are jumping, Runic, and simply having high enough HP to survive. Jumping and simply killing Siegfried ASAP, however, are the only options I recommend aside from Shadow's Stunner, since Siegfried's only immunities are instant death, Petrify, Condemned, and the Debilitator (the last one because he's already weak to all elementals. This is a vulnerability, however, because unlike Girl in the final battle, he has no elemental defenses on top of that). -------------------- |

I beat him a couple times.
I forget who, but I sent in a character with an Atma Weapon/Illumina combo complimented by Genji Golve/Offering while at Lv. 99. Try that. It may take a couple times since your character might cast "Life" on themselves for no reason. |

I beat him once and that was with Terra. I had the Illumina, Gauntlet, Offering, (best shield), (best armor), and I finally beat him after like 3 times. Terra was at level 99 with 9999 HP and 999 MP. I had some kind of relic, can't remember at the second, but everytime I had it on, my character (any of them) wouldn't cast magic. So if you just want a straight physical fight, I recommend that relic. I will get back to you on which relic it was. I need to play the game through again to find it.

I said I had the best relics with me, but I didn't say I had them all equipted at the same time. I switch them out and tried to see what the best combo was. I proved the relic theory false and thought I would tell you. I tried every relic I had and none of them worked. I hope that you can forgive me because it must have been a lucky break in the coliseum when I didn't use magic. Oh well, mistakes happen, right?

I've defeated him a few times. I used Locke with the Valiant Knife and the Offering, and I may have had Running Shoes for Auto-Haste. After he used Hyperdrive on me, with the Valiant Knife equipped I could hit him for 9,999 x 4 with my regular attack.
Generally I'd say this is the most difficult Coliseum battle. But it is all luck - if you get stuck using a bunch of useless spells, all the battles are going to be hard; on the contrary, if you just stick to the physical attack, all the battles are a cinch. -------------------- I know I've been Final Fantasy XII too long - just the other day I referred to a region with no cell service as a Jagd! |

Has anyone tried setting aside one character to level up without espers? You might have more success if you equip a strong physical character like that with the offering, genji glove, and good weapons. Even though you'd have to worry about it using stupid items and techniques, at least it would take away the chance of it casting stupid spells and give the strong physical attack a higher probability of occuring. |
