My feeling is that Edgar would make the better King. Simply b/c he is more familiar with that environment. Had Sabin stayed and done all the things the Edgar has, it might be different, but Edgar probably knows a bit more about running the place

Quite simply, Sabin never wanted to be king, and neither really did Edgar. "Edgar's twin brother, who traded the throne for his own freedom..."

That's not just a metaphor. He wanted to lose that coin toss. Edgar couldn't bear to see him lumbered with the burden and restrictions that come with such power, so in a way, Edgar sacrificed his own freedom for his brother's sake.

In addition, Edgar not only is king, he has been for about ten years. He's got experience, he knows the game. Sabin however is isolated and reclusive. His finger only gets back on the pulse of world events proper when he joins your party.

So, by default, Edgar isn't just the better choice for King, but the only choice. And anyway, you don't get a choice, it's a monarchy!

I have to vote Edgar.
Mostly for the already stated reasons, but also because Sabin wasn't all that brilliant and a lot more brawny, not to say that he was in any way stupid, he wasn't. Edgar, however, was a lot more clever and despite his womanizing skills (or lack thereof), he had a lot more tact, which is something I think is required in a ruler of kingdoms.

It could go either way, really. Sabin only became brawny when he started his training under Duncan. If he had been King, he probably wouldn't have gotten buff and Edgar might've gotten into martial arts... or not.

Edgar plans ahead, whereas Sabin is impulsive. Edgar can build powerful machinery and weapons, Sabin fights hand-to-hand. Edgar chose to stay at home and Sabin wanted to be free. I think there are an awful lot of arrows pointing at Edgar. happy.gif

I'd say the obvious choice is Edgar. He's always been my favorite character. I don't know, I just always enjoyed his dialogue. I think he'd make a better King because he makes better decisions. IMHO

Edgar was definitely the better choice. He was smart and cunning (though as it's been said before, maybe not so much with women), had the diplomacy skills combined with natural leadership... and experience.

Edgar may not have liked it, but he was a good king.

By the end of the game (middle, really) Edgar and Sabin are also the only characters left with any sort of royal blood, with empty thrones in Doma and the Empire. Now, if their world is like ours, royal lines tend to mix pretty liberally, and Figaro could end up as the heirs to several thrones.

The Empire will likely be disbanded though, and Doma's a ghost town, so it may not have any practical value. Furthermore, Cyan could have a reasonable claim (he seemed to be of noble bearing). The Empire doesn't seem built for inheritence anyway (Geshtal certainly never married) and its only surviving general could stake c further claim.

Edgar. This might be just because he is my favorite character hah, but he really seems to know who he is more, and a good leader must know himself. Sabin is more the type of person meant to stride the outside world. Besides his quote to Cefca, Edgar: It is my dream to build a kingdom in which I can guarantee freedom and dignity. This just shows he truly cares about his people and Sabin shows his care in different ways. He looks up to his brother and his leadership skills, Edgar was King and was meant to be king.
