So I noticed that alot of people here were fans of morrowind, great game as it was. I played it a bit on my friends sexbox, and enjoyed it somewhat despit its flaws. So the sequal obviously became heavily hyped, so I decided why not take the series for another spin.

I'm glad I did. I LOVE this game. I've enjoyed talking to it with other people about their experiences, so I'm just makin this topic for basically that, share your class and such.

Name: Dunfair
Race: Wood Elf
Class: Agent
Level: 6
Factions: Blades, Theives guild

Honestly I kind of regret being an agent, just because one of its major skills is illusion, and I haven't used a single illusion spell yet. That's probably becasue I don't OWN one and don't feel like joining the mages guild as I'm already part of one guild.

My high skills are acrobatics, marksmanship, light armor, and speechcraft. My high attributes are Agility, speed, and pesonality. I tend to spend more time than I should shooting at straw targets to increase my marksmanship.

I'm mostly evil, just because of me stealing a lot, and the only time I ever killed someone was completley on accident, when I was invading an oblivion gate and a guard jumped right in front of an arrow, gets blown sky high (I was using a bow of embers), and I get blamed for killing him. I also got charged a 1000 dollar fine and was dispelled from the theives guild, and had to re-join.

My favorite city is probably Burma, becasue I spend the majority of my time there, because the only fencer for stolen good I know of is there, and he's also one of my best buds, giving me better prices. I'm also fond of Chorral, and the Imperial City. I also have to endorse travelling without using the fastmap unless you're in a hurry, as most of the beauty in the game is found in the HUGELEY interesting enviorments, just the space between all the towns. It's also great because of the new compass system, which helps you find a lot of interesting stuff without trouble.

So far I've found the story pretty unique and really engrosing, I'm right at the point where
Possible spoilers: highlight to view
I have to gather the support of each city of Cyrodil, and so far I've only done Cheydonhal, I believe it was.

Honestly I highly recommend this to anyone with the oppurtunity to play it, as I got it Friday and haven't been able to put it down since. (note: I'm playing the PC version.)

Share any experiences you've had with the game.

Edit
I forgot to include the thing I thought made this such an improvement over morrowind. The combat is a LOT more accessible, considering they took out the evasion system. Shooting arrows is effective, you dont' spend hours trying to get a hit on your enemy, and the challenge tends to come more in the form of interesting situations.

I (as you know FH) have the game as well. It's easily one of the best RPG's to come along in a long time.

There's are loads of people who absolutely loathed Morrowind (I liked it), but LOVED Oblivion. It's like everything Morrowind wanted to be, with a better storyline. Everything feels more refined.

The NPC's AI in the game is amazing, everyone has their own agendas and schemes. You'll see NPC's going to church on Sundas, going to meetings of the organizations they might be in, or perhaps going out to hunt the elusive deer.

The environments in this game range from tranquil to hellish. And every environment never ceases to stun time and time again (I'm playing on the 360).

Name: Aeolus
Race: High Elf
Class: Mage
Level: 5
Factions: Mage's Guild

So in other words if your PC is capable or you can get a 360 (my preferance)... BUY THIS GAME!

I'm torn.

On the one hand, I love Oblivion with a burning passion that means I probably won't do much else for weeks.

On the other hand... it's really quite broken, in the levelling aspect. Not only do enemies level up with you, but so does their gear, as well as the available gear you can steal or buy from elsewhere.

In the beginning, there is no way to get good equipment, but by the mid teens in your level progression, mere bandits will be wearing strong armour. This means there's next no point in buying or stealing anything (and there don't seem to be any valuable useless items to steal either, like the big gold plate at the start of Morrowind) and your cash reserves and equipment are dictated solely by the level you're playing at, in many respects.

I understand wanting to keep beginning players from becoming too powerful too quickly, but do we really need to hide better equipment entirely? A simple level check before equipping would surely work better. And it's just daft that a bandit would have Ebony armour frankly. The actual issue of enemies levelling up, though, I don't actually mind, because it was just too easy to become too powerful in Morrowind.

Frankly that's a huge disappointment on top of an otherwise unbelievably brilliant game, so on balance I still love it, but it's frustrating after the sublime freedom of Morrowind. I'd love a better balance between the two, and in time I'm sure there'll be mods for the PC version to achieve this. But for now I have to tinge my joy with a little sadness at the linearity of character development.

My character, by the way, is a Khajiit called Kattomeat. He has a custom class, the details of which I've largely forgotten, but he's a bit of a fighter/thief type of chap. He's in the Fighters' Guild and Thieves' Guild so far, and is currently wandering around some sewers for some reason.
