i was reading on sum faqs that suggest to wait till u get some espers to level up to get 9999 hp and 999mp, so how is this done? i was trying to play the game by running away from the monsters but i usually end up wasting a lot of potions because the monsters hit me before i run away, can i still get those stats by playing normal? should i level up and kill every monster?

Man. You don't even need half of that to beat the game.
![]() It's VERY easy to do a low-level game. You need to change your strategies at little, that's all. First put everyone in the back row. Load up on phoenix downs - in fights where enemies do more damage than you have HP, don't bother to heal. Just res. Get Wall Rings aplenty. You'll find the game much easier in the back row. -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

It's true... there is no reason to be that painstakingly anal about developing your characters unless you are out to specifically do that.
If you set your characters up appropriately with espers and maxed their levels, it would be obscene overkill. |

During my first playthrough, I never even knew I could take advantage of esper bonuses. To this day I've never even used, much less relied on, espers to boost my stats at level up. The game hasn't been any noticeably harder nor any easier because of it.
![]() I'd say maybe 10% of a battle in FF6 relies on your stats, which is why no-exp games are possible. Between a player who knows which strategy to take in battles and how to fight a boss (excluding the cheap tactics like vanish/doom) and a player with overkill stats who just uses their most powerful attacks and keep their HP full, the former will not only have an easier time playing but will also have more fun due to less tediousness. Back row is more useful than the best armor (unless you do something cheap like getting 128 mblock, which makes you pretty much invincible...) -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |
