I was just curious who here saves Cid. I finally managed to keep him alive for the first time.

I do both. I probably save him more times than not, but since I've played only through this game about 6 times, I think its like 4 - save 2 - not.

I can tell you that when I *do* save him I never visit him again. Im an ungrateful brat.

I try, but I just give up in the end. It's more interesting if he dies anyway.

i try to save him, but if he dies i dont have a big problem with it...actually, i dont really see a big point to saving him, since he is too dumb to follow you onto the raft anyway

Actually, that whole scene is kinda weird...

Usually, I let him die and watch the scene, and then reload and save him because I can't stand the idea of letting him die.

(For the same guilt-related reason, I also always let the submarine Shinra live in FFVII.)

It pains me to say it, but I have never once saved Cid. I like the scene too much to save him, and not only is is a poignant moment that gives Celes, and infact all the characters, a sort of human weakness, FF6 needs more tragedy.

You know, other than the

Ever since I learned that he could be saved (I know, I know), I have done so. Though, if I am unsuccessful, I'm not going to redo it

Not anymore, my first thought was that he would always die. Well now I know he will if you feed him rotten fishes.

The first time I saved him, I was really disappointed. Nothing good came out of it, and I never really liked that Cid.

His death wasn't in vain, he was able to keep Celes alive. If I were him, I wouldn,t be too pleased to live on a solitary island like this. Killing him off (harsh way to say it but that's what I do/intead) is for his own good.

I usually save him, though it is annoying when all the fish aren't yummy fish... pinch.gif I think the story is better if he does die though. To my knowledge, this is the only FF besides FFII that Cid dies in. (Though in this one it's optional.)

Absolutely nothing, gameplay wise. The story will change of course, but you'll still get the Palidor magicite later anyway. I always thought that tragedy was what made this story so good anyway...tongue.gif

I save his life 'cause I tend to get really sucked into the games I play and feel bad if he dies.

It does bother me, however, that Cid stays on the island and doesn't even hang out on the Falcon.

I took the time to save him because I heard a rumor that if you save Cid, he will give you the Illumina as a gift to Celes before you go fight Kefka in the WoR. I also heard he will join your party and be an excellent character (he is a secret character and not to many people know about him). I think it's a glitch in the game, like when Gau becomes Kefka.

Well, this is not something I know for sure. One of my friends told me this and he plays FF more than I do, and i'm FF maniac. So, if you now if this statement is true or not, could you post it here so I can set thing straight. I just thought I would bring it up because I wanted to know if anyone else has heard of this? When I heard it, I was like "YEAH, RIGHT"!! Can someone verify this for me, thanks.

I did take the time to save him once, but I didn't like it, I think it's a powerfully emotional scene when he dies and Celes makes the jump, without that scene I think the game loses some touch to it =/

No, you can't get him in your party. Seeing as how he doesn't have a battle sprite, menu portrait, or stats, and all of that.

That better summarizes how I felt.

Thanks Zeromus_X for clearing that up because people were getting up set at me on this site thinking I was posting spam and I was just wanting to know for sure if you could get Cid. Thanks for the verification! I owe you one.
