A deep discussion, I know.
I've had this avatar of mine for some time now, and I've often wondered what the bubble is that is coming from his mouth. Is the fat little fella burping, or is he saying something (squark, perhaps)? Tell me what you think. My personal preference is that he's belching.... but some of you who remember him in the game may know what he's really doing. I seem to remember the bubble in the game only having "..." in it, but my memory is fuzzy. -------------------- Join the Army, see the world, meet interesting people - and kill them. ~Pacifist Badge, 1978 |

It always looked to me like how they draw a spit bubble on sleeping people in anime. His eyes are open, though. Shrug.

The yellow colour inside the bubble kind of looks like a circle, so maybe it is a burp?

I think it a snot bubble. SD characters have them when they sleep(atleast most of the time) the only problem is, that he doesn't look like he's sleeping. So i'm not sure.

I thought of the snot bubble too, but as he's not sleeping, I guess a burp. That was their in FF3 NES too.

The chocobo, being the paranoid creature he is, has trained himself to sleep with his eyes open. It's totally a snooze bubble.

I hadn't thought of the snooze bubble.... He does look kinda sleepy, now that I'm conciously thinking it.

I'm guessing it's because he ate so many items. I heard that after you eat a good meal, you get sleepy? Or something. Who knows.
Then again, I guess he doesn't get out much either. I just realized that I'm talking about the Fat Chocobo's life... -------------------- |

I had always thought of it simply as a speech bubble....clearly that's what giant chicken-like creatures should be doing.
However I am partial to the sleeping bubble that has been suggested |

However I am partial to the sleeping bubble that has been suggested I totally agree with this, but i wouldve like to seen more options, like a joke one suggesting it was like some gigantic zit off the top lip or something...lol No, but really, i think it it a speech bubble, since chocos always say wark!!! -------------------- <DrkMagimaster282> MWAHAHA. I always thought there was a big booger coming out of his nose section, but it has a weird shape so it could probably be that burp bubble.

I also thought it was a sleep bubble (does anyone else hate those? They're so stupid!), but since he's obviously not sleeping (unless maybe he's sleeping with his eyes open?? Maybe...), I've gonna have to vote for the burp.

OMFGROFLLOLWTFBBQLOLMAOROFLMAO.
It's gotta be a huge zit. MOVE ZIT! FOR GREAT EATAGE!!! Okay, I actually think it's a burp. Speech Bubbles usually have stuff written in them; if it's just a noise like "wark", I'd expect a non-text representation of that to be something like a few lines coming from the mouth, without a bubble. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. I always thought it was similar to the bubble that Gaspar (is that the right one?) in Chrono Trigger. First I just thought it was a snot bubble then came to see it was a 'sleep' bubble. So, I guess something similar is going on with the Fat Chocobo.

But if he was sleeping, why would the left wing/arm be up in the air? He looks like he's about to proclaim something important.... something like, say, a big nasty wet belch.

Perhaps the chocobo was going to say something very important and then forgot what he was going to say. His wing is raised in a sort of "Well, you know..." manner.

Fat Chocobo was a slob. That bubble is a combination of gas and saliva. I always regretting letting him get his greasy wings on my items.

It kinda looks like it has a thermometer stuck to his beak.
Seriously, it looks like a burp. And with his wing in the air, it's like he's saying, 'Hey *hic* you guys, listen a minute, yeah... hang on... *BUUUUURP* heh *hic*'. In conclusion, it's a burp. -------------------- 'Bastards, we may be, but clever are we.' Thorn, FFIX |

It's gotta be a burp.
I mean, the literal translation of the Fat Chocobo is "Debu Chocobo," which I am to understand reads out- Lardass Chocobo. If that doesn't imply being a slob, then I don't know what does. Besides that- ![]() In the WSC of the GBA version, we can see that it looks more spit-like. -------------------- If you've been mod-o-fied, It's an illusion, and you're in-between. I always assumed it was a sleep/snot-bubble since, I always imagined, that you just "woke up" Fat Chocobo with your gysall.
Maybe it's really a burp? Who knows other than Square themselves..? |
