hey hey. i am at the last part of the game, where im just waiting to climb the tower with the magic dudes where u can only use magic. the problem is, is i don't know how to get my stats to raise. i've equipped my bomb espers and all, but i don't know how to activate these hp+50 and whatnots. i thought they would automatically raise after i gained a level but that's obviously not the case here... ARGGGG im gettin angry. so i cant beat magkant or whatever his name is at the top because my HP isnt high enough. obviously im stupid and this is like common knowledge because i can't find it anywhere, but i've tried everything. please help thanks!!!!!

Actually, these things DO occure at level up.

Try using life3 at most battles and try to waste 255-256 battles whilefitghing with the cursed shield and learn ultima.
and the bonuses do work.

The problem may lie in misplaced expectations. Like the others have said, each and every stat bonus is added per level up so long as an Esper with such a feature is equipped. A common mistake with the HP and MP bonuses, however, is the assumption that they will increase by much more than they actually do.

For example, if a character has 1000 HP and is working on gaining the HP + 50% bonus, some players mistakenly think it means their HP will rise by 500 points upon level up (i.e, they believe the amount gained is 50% of that party member's overall HP).

In reality, it simply means that you'll gain 50% more HP than what you normally would for each level up. For instance, let's say you normally (very hypothetically speaking) woulda gained 40 hit points upon level up. With the HP + 50% bonus equipped, you'll actually gain 60 HP per level up.

Hope that clears up some confusion. If not, whoops.

That confused me too. I actually thought Sabin would have 9999 HP in five levels with an HP+30%! What a shock that was.
