Who is your least favorite character in terms of fighting in the game. I would have made a poll, but it would have been to hard to combine characters to do one. For me, I would say Strago. I think that all the character's are good in their own way, but I was never good at finding blue magic for him, making him not that handy.

I never used relm much. I adore blue magic however, so I used Strago like a mad man.

Relm.
Just about the lowest attack power, and no useful skill to compensate for it. Sketch usually produces a pretty weak attack, and Control can't be used on bosses. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. I think Relm is cool, but as has been pointed out, Sketch is pretty wussy and Control can't be used on the enemies you really want to use it on.

Relm is useful for one reason - her Magic stat is the highest in the game. She's probably the best spellcaster you can find not named Terra, who has an edge thanks to her esper transformation. Also, anyone who dislikes Gau isn't playing the game effectively at all. With the right Rage skills, Gau's the most versatile and powerful character in FF VI.
The character I like using the least is probably Cyan. His Magic stat is terrible, and his SwdTech skill doesn't compensate, with only marginally useful abilities that slow him down considerably. All he has going for him is an admittedly really good set of equipment. Otherwise, just about any other character is a better fit on a party. -------------------- |

Gau. What a useless piece of crap. He's alright as a character, but I like my mages!

Any character that can cast Ultima, Vanish, and Doom from their Magic command. What a weak minded strategist.

But.. you don't need strategy in this game. You don't even need to be close to a strategist. This game, like most Final Fantasies, will let you waltz through the game happily spamming the most powerful spell for ridiculously low amounts of relative MP.

I've always thought that Relm, Strago, and Gau, who many consider the "weakest" characters, kinda compliment eachother. Relm can control monsters, so Strago can learn new Lores, and Gau can fight those creatures in the Veldt for new Rages. And, you can control those monsters too. Kinda loose, but I still think that they work together.
And I didn't know that Relm had the highest magic stat! Another reason I can have her as my favorite character... -------------------- |

Locke. He takes items. Wow.

I really like Locke's speed, and his "special" flying weapons are useful early on.
Edit Oooh, LEAST favorite. I hear reading is one of those life skills that really helps out. Umm.. Umaro, I suppose. Definitely Umaro. You can't control him.
I love Relm a lot, actually. She is VERY powerful if you know how to use her. And it's not that hard to figure out (teach her spells and get the Cat Hood in the Colloseum). She's my best mage. Gau is also incredibly useful. He is an offensive powerhouse in the WOB and a defensive one in the WOR. -------------------- The NEW Final Fantasy Wiki! Join us! |

Personally, I like Cyan alot. Mostly because I'm a big Cyan fan overall, but if he didn't have the long waits for his swordtechs he'd be pretty good, and his fight command does solid damage as well. I also love Relm's magic stat.
Personally, I never liked Gogo much, mostly because he can do everything, but can't do any of it well. I've also never found Mog to be especially great, same with Umaro and Gau because I can't control them (though Tyrannosaurus is a pretty sweet Rage). -------------------- Don't tease the octopus kids! |

I'd say Relm as well. I've heard that she will make Kefka cast "Fallen One" on himself if you can successfully Sketch him, but I've never seen it happen. Strago is second, but it pains me to say it, because I love Blue Magic. But I think a while ago I figured out that the average MP cost of Blue Magic is 40 MP per casting. Gau can do most (not all) of Strago's Lores for 0 MP if you don't mind losing control of him. I usually don't mind unless it's a defensive Rage I'm doing. You really don't need to cast "Big Guard" every turn, honey.
![]() Cyan is my favorite character, so I try to use him in battle as frequently as I can. The fact that Tempest randomly casts "Wind Slash" makes him really effective. For his Sword Techs, I usually quickly tell everyone what to do, saving him for last. While the rest of the party is doing their thing, I charge his meter. By the time they're done, he's ready. That's my excuse. ![]() -------------------- Mustard?! Don't let's be silly! |

gau and umaro.
I don't hate those characters, but attack and magic commands are most useful command to me. (heal, nuke, osmose, repeat xP yea...i'm boring ). Or some times in ff6, you can sleep+nuke (sucks that most enemies have sleep immune ![]() But either way, umaro attacking a sleeping enemy just ruins everything. Gau's rage can be useful, but when you need to change strategy and need gau to use something else other thanrage...well you have to kill him or not change plans xP -------------------- I will be there... |

Mmmmmmmmm........... difficult choice.
I think every single character is really good if you use them wisely... Even that my least would be...Gogo, and just for one reason... Not for his figthing skills or magic ability, or his stats... The reason is for his stupid attitude of killing mog everytime he mimics a dance... Gogo is a very good figther but is stupid... Why? why? Why he does that to my poor little moogle? What's the problem with him? Is He/She mooglefobic? -------------------- I'm the shadow in the night, I'm the wind that blows in your back, I'm the darkness... I personally didn't like Setzer for the simple fact that I found his slots to end up killing me after I'd played for several hours since my last save. I can't remember which one it was called but this even made me stop playing the game altogether for months on end.

Strago has a good magic stat and some useful blue magic... but he's not really my favorite, I hate him early game... but he gets better. Same with Relm... terrible early game but can be made poweful because of her inherent stats.
I'm going with Setzer, for the win... he really annoys me. I'm no good at his slots and I hate his weapons. For me, he is rather useless until you obtain his final weapon and equip him with the Offering. I had forgotten one thing. He does have coin toss, which certainly will do damage.
