This here is a funny "walkthrough" of FFIV that makes fun of FFIIe's hilarious engrish translation. I thought it was funny. Just go to "episodes" and you'll see.
Edit: I realize that some of you may have seen this before, but none the less, it's still pretty hilarious. "Do the Meteo!" XD -------------------- |

ROFLROFLROFLROFLROFLROFLROFLROFLROFLROFLROFLROFL
LOLLOLLOLOMGBBQWTFLOLLOLOMGWTFBBQLOLLOLBBQLOL This reminds me of RPGClassics.com's FFVI walkthrough. Also a bunch of hilarity. Just for samples (not necessarily the best quotes, but just amusing enough to act as selling points): Quote (Ah @ the Power of Cheese) The following boss battle can be tough if you don't dispatch the sisters in the following order: Fat one >> Short one >> Sexually suggestive one Quote (Ah @ the Power of Cheese) Nobody calls Tellah an old man and gets away with it! Quote (Ah @ the Power of Cheese) Dwarves, Biblical towers, Frankenstein, Robot Skeletons, and Super Cannons all in a half hour of gameplay. Wow. Quote (Ah @ the Power of Cheese) Strong in body and mind" otherwise known as "Float" Quote (Ah @ the Power of Cheese) Pimp my airship. Quote (Ah @ the Power of Cheese) Not only that, the side quest that follows this revelation displays exactly what to do if you know anyone who has recently been in a firey explosion. For the sake of the young audience, I have decided to fully detail the procedure. First, leave them unattended for a long period of time and visit their home. Tell people where they are, but leave out the part about them having third degree burns all over their body and that they are losing profuse amounts of blood. Take a heavy metal object of your choice from their house. Return hours later to the victim and ignore the protests of any onlookers. And finally, bash them in the face with the object you've obtained. Despite the ignorant ramblings of those who were watching at the time, the victim will be in tip-top shape and you will be rewarded with a spoon. Quote (Ah @ the Power of Cheese) Instead of removing the CPU from the ZIF socket, you will decide to attack it with swords, magic, and summoned beasts instead. Quote (Ah @ the Power of Cheese) As you can probably already tell, this is no ordinary human king. Two words have already escaped his mouth and neither of them were punctuated with "!?" By the way, do NOT eat while reading Series 3 Episode 5. I repeat, do NOT eat while reading Series 3 Episode 5 (i.e. Episode 15). There is a high chance that whatever is in your mouth at the time will no longer be there by the end of the 'episode'. ------- The author does definitely get two other points across, past the humor. They're (1) the low quality of the FFII script translation, and (2) the sheer number of awkward/contrived/deus-ex-machina/diabolus-ex-machina moments. By such I mean things like Cid being "the bomb" and the crystal having (conveniently) been stolen by some we-need-a-gameplay-plot-element monster and Golbez surviving through an unlikely body part. These are the reasons I felt that FFIV's (FFIIus's) plot, while good, isn't the best or the most enjoyable. It's not very smooth because it sometimes feels like plot-elements were thrown in just to make the story interesting. I just really liked when they got to the Moon. XD
"Most of us Lunarians are waiting for you folks on the Blue Planet to be able to understand us." At this rate, I'd say they have a few thousand years to wait. -------------- "I Bahamut, King of Monsters, shall judge!" It looks like the Queen of Monsters has done a bit of sleeping around. *Party gets MegaNuked* And you certainly don't want to pick a fight with a guy who has a ho for a wife. ESPECIALLY if he has a spell called MegaNuke. --------------- "We will guide you to the path that leads to the Core!" This is either poorly translated or just a flat out lie. This is the only guidance these bastard crystals will ever give you: "Go toward the Core!" No sh**. --------------- And of course: "GRAAAAAAAAM!" CRAAAAACKER!! --------------- I could go on and on, but this post is long enough already. XD But yeah, at least they fixed up the script in later ports. Edit: I actually think Episode 16 is more hilarious than 15, but I did spray out all of my drink when I saw "Yes!" and "Passage" This post has been edited by Zeromus_X on 6th March 2006 01:06 -------------------- |

I'd certainly never seen this before. It's a lot of hit or miss if you ask me, but I guess most humor is.
I like this one: "fire" must be that new lingo meaning "terrorist attack that I, myself, committed" |

The funniest part of the whole thing was as follows: "Get off the Big Whale."
Wow. Oh, and "Do the Meteo!" takes close second. Nice link, Zeromus_X! TRULY!? -------------------- The island bathes in the sun's bright rays Distant hills wear a shroud of grey A lonely breeze whispers in the trees Sole witness to history ICO-You were there- |

I remember one part where this walkthrough "explained" the 'W.' in W. Meteo. Something along the lines of "We are secretly lovers".
xD -------------------- John: So you don't want your screen saver to come on for another four hours? Me: Where does it say that? John: Here where it was 240 minutes. Me: Is that four hours? John: Yeah, 60 X 4. Me: Is that four hours, though? John: ....They'll never take you back in school. xD; |

I still think "Passage" is unforgetable.
Oh, and: Cecil: But why? Your mother... Rydia: Stop that. Rydia has truly grown, she is finally able to stand up to Cecil's relentless torment. I always re-read it for kicks every now and again... "GRAAAAAAAAAM!" CRAAAAAAAACKERR! Edit: Oh, "Yaoi comics begin the same way! "The W. stands for W(e are secretly lovers.)" That was a funny line xD This post has been edited by Zeromus_X on 6th March 2006 17:04 -------------------- |

Am I the only one that didn't find it funny?
And it didn't use any kind of Engrish or mistranslation for the jokes, it just took random sentences of dialogue out of context and put a one-liner underneath it. -------------------- "I had to write four novels before they let me write comic books." -Brad Meltzer |

It was mildly amusing, not like "OMFG! SO FUNNAY". Still, cute.
Quote This must be one of Cecil's special abilities he was taught in Baron's Dark Knight training program: The ability to answer someone's question with a phrase that is totally unrelated without anyone realizing it. Classmate: Hey Cecil, what's the square root of 8? Cecil: There is a bed in my room. Classmate: Ah! Got it, thanks man! (BTW, the answer is 2 root 2) -------------------- kame, tortue, tortuga, schildkröte, tartaruga, turtle "Arthur Dent?" "Yes." "Arthur Philip Dent?" "Yes." "You're a total knee biter." |
