Ridley was, let's say, somewhat pissed when he found out that Nintendo wasn't intending on giving him a role in MP2. Sure, his contract didn't specify that he'd have one, but that didn't prevent the Uber Space Dragon from being rather irked by the decision either.

You want the first Prime if you want Ridley in 3D form.

I didnt like ridley missing in the game either, but i think the ing more then make up for that, and their ability to take over host bodies.

Quote (ZEROMUS @ 28th March 2006 12:29) A dark ridley would've been cool! Ridley doesn't really belong in this game, though. It's more of a side story than anything else, the only real contribution being Dark Samus. Or maybe it will explain the presence of the Light, Dark, and Annihilator beams in MP3? After all, she does keep them despite losing the light and dark suits (I wonder if the beam thing's an oversight, though?). -------------------- |

Quote (ZEROMUS @ 28th March 2006 13:29) A dark ridley would've been cool! Well, the problem is, what's "Light Ridley"? He's kind of a shadowy character anyway, so there wouldn't be sufficient contrast to really distinguish the two Ridleys. And Ridley would be a lot less cool if he, for no reason, suddenly fought on Samus's side. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. It's not a question of good and evil. The only exception is Dark Samus, who is a light being. This post has been edited by Master ZED on 30th March 2006 05:59 -------------------- |

"Dark" simply means you're from Dark Aether or possessed by an Ing. It's not a question of good and evil. The only exception is Dark Samus, who is a light being. I understand what you mean, but I was referring to the symbolism of "light" and "dark"--in this case, it would be more fitting for (Light) Ridley to side with the Ing, being a (supposedly) evil character, as opposed to him being possessed by the Ing (remember he has to come back for Super Metroid, according to the timeline). Use of irony in which Ridley would be fighting the Ing (and thus have a common enemy with Samus), and/or in which Ridley would be possessed by the Ing but ironically freed by Samus, would not be very appropriate here. As for non-ironic scenarios, Ridley siding with the Ing isn't really impossible, but for what I know, the pirates were only there for the phazon, not for the "lifestream" (unlike the Ing). Plus, he'd need time to recover from getting ass-handed in the previous Prime game. Of course, Ridley's absence in MP2 only serves to support the idea that MP2 is a kind of side-story to the main series. Let's just see how long it is before Nintendo starts messing with the Metroid series's canon IGA-on-Castlevania style... -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing.
