Can anyone assist me please?
I have 2 SNES in my room on a shelf that are non-funtioning. When I plug them in, all I get is a grey screen no matter what I do. I got a very nice Nintendo that works just fine, but the TV's I have (all 3 of them) don't work with it, nor does my sister's over at her apartment.

If noone knows the problem, where can I get a new one? The two that I have are off of Half.com (same place where I got my Nintendo), and the closest store that can sell it (half hour drive) is completley out of stock every time I go there.

Does the power come on when you turn the SNESes on? This should be obvious but I've heard tech support stories that have forced me to make this a standard question everytime someone tells me "It don't work yo!" wink.gif

If not, the power unit (the big black plug) may be damaged or the SNES could've stopped functioning due to other problems (such as heavy exposure to humidity.) If you can get a replacement unit, try using it. If it still doesn't work, some messing around inside the SNES would probably be required.

If it does power on, look inside the cartridge slot (after trying it with other carts, of course.) Give it a firm blowing out to make sure the connectors aren't obstructed with anything. If you can, try to inspect them for damage (such as heavy oxydization.) I've had my NES do that to me because it was improperly stored and a light amount of humidity corroded the connectors. After a careful scrubbing, I got it working again.

If the connection seems fine, try carefully scrubing them with a soft brush or brushing them with a paintbrush; sometimes foreign matters gets lodged in there like ostridges, dead insects, and dog hair.

If everything's fine up to this point but you still can't get anything to work, you can always just try opening it up and giving it a quick look. At this point, there probably isn't much else you can do. Look for anything that looks like it came loose or unsoldered. If you're capable enough, you can probably fix it if you're careful. Sometimes these things take a tumble and bits can come loose.

Dunno where you could find a new one. Flea markets seem good enough most of the time.

Edit: I overlooked something. Your SNES-to-TV plug (forgot the name of that lil' gizmo) could also be defective. Try your NES's connector (the small greyish box with a black wire and a connector that looks like a cable pin), it actually worked with my SNES back when I was a kid and forgot to bring some plugs along. The actual port could also be at fault, too.

I'd say the screen is the result of the SNES to TV connector. You can always use the N64 or Gamecubes connector on the SNES, which is nice if you can't get a coaxial connector.
