No Doom Gaze?

That was quite odd. I just beat FF again, but I never fought Doom Gaze. once. I know it's not the ROM, since i fought him in my last game a while back. It's not like I didn't use the airship, since a few times I wondered about Doom gaze and held fast forward and A and zoomed for large periods of time just to fight him. He never showed up. any reasons why this may have happened? No moogle charm or charm bangle-type items were equipped.

Although they may be random, they should still happen eventually. Doom Gaze is supposed to appear - that's kindof the point.

I wonder if using the emulator's fast-forward function made it impossible for the battle script to run? Seems unlikely, but possible.

Using the Emulator's fast-forward function has nothing to do with it. That is how I met him on my ROM, since I am a sometimes unpatient person. But, it did take a few minutes flying around to run into him with the fast-forward. It always takes me insane amounts of time to find Doom Gaze while I'm looking, though he often pops up when I'm not. I don't use the fast forward, but it can't really affect it, since all it does is drop rendering of every x out of y frames.

I too have sometimes taken forever to fight Doom Gaze. However, I've noticed that I've never fought with him when I had only one or so characters. It might be possible that Doom Gaze doesn't show up until you have at least three or four characters on the airship at sufficient level before he shows up? Because once I solo'ed pretty much the whole WoR with Cyan at a crazy high level, but never met Doom Gaze. How many characters on average were on your airship when you tried to fight? Also, what level were they?

I enconter doom gaze with one char level16.

Eh, I'm sure it's no big deal. Doom Gaze pops up now and then, and sometimes doesn't. I mean, if it was random, then isn't there a chance that he won't show up for longer than it takes for you to finish the game?

Gee...when I was LOOKING for him it did take about half an hour to meet him (no fast forward)... but when I was like, going for another team member or just regrouping in the air, he ALWAYS attacked.
