I've seen so many places try to explain it (not successfully or clearly), but what determines the Atma Weapon's power? And what does the description mean "Powers up at level up" or something like that?

I'm not entirely sure about this, so don't quote me.

I always thought the more HP the individual had, the more power Atma would produce towards the enemy. One thing I DO know for sure, is that Atma means 'soul' in Hindi. I suppose the power held by the one using it (the power of the their 'soul' if you will) lets them hit and use it with more force.

On another tangent. I noticed in the first Tenchi Muyo movie, Achika's sword responds to the power of the person holding it. To me it looks similar to what the Atma weapon is in FFVI. When Tenchi holds it, it's a little weenie sword, when Achika gets it, it morphs into this 15ft long sword. Go figure.

From the algorithms FAQ (as seen here):

Quote
Deals damage as normal weapon with the following exception:

After step 7 in damage calculation, the damage is modified as follows:

step 7a. damage = damage * level
step 7b. damage = damage * ((current HP / 256) + 1) / ((max HP / 256) + 1)
step 7c. damage = (damage / 64) + 1

Is defense ignoring, so it skips steps 5b, 5c, 5d, and 5e in damage calculation.

The length of the Atma Weapon is determined solely by the damage you do as follows:

Damage       Length
0 - 500      Shortest
501 - 1000   Medium
1001 - 9999  Longest

You may want to read the FAQ to get exactly where Atma Weapon fits in.

That menas that the bigger the diff between max and the hp you have now is big the less the atma is gonna do damage. It's not the most hp you have the most it do damage it's a proportion.

That faq is good  :)
