I've been playing it for more than 5 years now, and I'm still playing to this day.
In fact, I find it more fun than ever before. |

I haven't played it all the way through in almost two years, but I've been playing it since its release date in the US - I placed a preorder as soon as I heard about it.
(Of course, I now have a GH copy; I sold my original on eBay for like $70 as soon as I heard GH would be out for $20.) I think it's since 99' Christmas that I've been playing it or maybe since 98 but it was the year it was released... My parents paid 70$ for it (the price of the realease in Quebec, and maybe also in Canada for PSX games.
I never stopped playing it, only less and less, then more and more. The cycle of dependance EDIT: I might want to buy the Japanese version for the extras such as the mini-games that weren't included in the US version. Edit Since North America's release date was the January 28th 1998, I've been playing since December 24th 1998, or 7 Years & 3 months, which is pretty low This post has been edited by Zodiac on 14th February 2006 21:29 -------------------- Sayonara |

I bought a copy for around $35 a few months after I got my PS1 (2000 or so). However, the copy I had died two or three years ago (it would feeze up in certain areas, usually non-battle cutscenes), so I sold it and bought a GH version.

How long?! Well, remember the day it came out? I was one of the geeky people who actually remembered that!!! That was a long time ago... Oh well... Quote (Hamedo @ 14th February 2006 16:27) It's one of the only games I've played in my life that maintains my interest. I'm definatly with Hamedo on this one, FFT's replay value has to be the greatest of any game ive ever played. It had to have been 98' or 99' when i first got it, (Although i remember it was summer at the time), I'm still playing the non-GH version i got way back when (i think i paid $50 for it). I still remember the smell of all that green... (No...... not the money I spent....... I mean all the lawns I had to mow as a kid, to earn enough money to get it...) -------------------- Quote <FrPhoenix[Around]> "Burgleburgleburgle" |

The day it came out, I played it at my friend's house. I was enthralled by it. So, I went home and told my parents that I needed to have a playstation and FFT.
They laughed.........and gave me a long list of chores to do over the summer. I worked my @$$ off that summer and then..............I had FFT........ Been playing ever since |

Ahh... I remember talking about this game in high-school with a few good buddies...
Back then, I used to play games. Then I went to college and only played games during class with classmates (COBOL? Who needs COBOL?! Now, well, I'm a rich office programmer. So to sum it up... Full-time programming job: 2 years. College (comp. sci.): 3 years. College (social studies): 1 year. Highschool (the one where we talked about FFT): 2 years. Total... 8 years. It's been 8 years. I've honestly forgotten, so I'll just say that I've been playing since the dawn of man. Now that I count my playing time in thousands of hours, I think that's duly appropriate.

Like Hamedo and CT5Holy the one of three games (thus far) that has maintained my interest and I'll be playing it for a long time to come. I got it in 2000 going into 2001 (it was a greatest hit). I was skeptical at first having played FFVIII like mad (how I play FFT now) and playing FFIX for some time, but after playing it for a while, I patted myself on the back for buying this game (with a Best Buy Gift Card from Christmas). The replay value on this one is phenomenal.

I'm more hardcore than any of you. I played it in the womb.
But seriously, I think we can all agree that few games rival FFT regarding replay value. I'm suffering from serious withdrawal since my PS2 is broken. I was planning on waiting til PS3 came out, but every day I think about breaking down and buying a new PS2 just to play FFT. It drives me nuts. How long have I been playing? 99? I think? At the time I sold it, the news that it was going to go GH was about 50% confirmed, 50% rumor. Combine that with the fact that it had been out of print for at least a year, and there were copies flying out of eBay at that price. I was taking a chance, but it worked out well in the end, and I REALLY needed the money at that point in my life. -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

I remember playing alot of tekken 3 when my roomate brought fft home one day. He played it a little bit and got bored with it, so I started playin it, and have been hooked ever since. so i guess that would be around 99 or '00, so about 6 years.

I started playing the day before I started 5th grade (stayed up until 3 A.M., atleast I got to chapter 2)
I'm now a senior in high school, so 7 1/2 years. And still I don't tire of it, I guess it's because the story is timeless, the job system is interesting, and everything else packed into the game. Just the last couple years I started mastering it (getting Cloud and the Zodiac summon, etc.) because I never wanted to glance at a walkthrough or stategy guide for a while, but I never would have been able to get all there is to get by chance. But yeah, I've played almost every Final Fantasy (haven't played the games such as Mystic Quest and the Gamecube release) but when it boils down to it, this is still my favorite one but a considerable amount. My favorite game, period. -------------------- "The only bad F-word is FCC." - Tom Morello |

I first bought the game when i was in fifth grade, or sixth grade, not sure. I've been playing it since for three or four years (I know, i'm still a young lad, only 14 years old). It is still possibly my favorite game of all time.

I honestly have no idea. I bought it when it first was released. Now I'm making internet games that build on it. It's a great game and a shame that Square never took the story any further.

I played a little bit when I was younger. Im not sure how far I got - some battles sound familiar even though the storyline at that point does not. I *think* I got through chapter one, but I remember being stuck on a map with a windmill for a while.
I wasn't very great at the game. Random encounters were hell for me, I loathed the first few battles, and never really gained a significant interest in the game. Im pretty sure I would do a lot better now, considering I have a better understanding of how the game is played. Now Im becoming more and more interested as this game gets steadily more difficult to find. Maybe I should try to pick up a copy. But $30... its hard to justify that right now. -------------------- Oh sure, I don't have to get kicked in the junk to activate it, but I like it anyway. -- Thief commenting on the difference between Throw and Blue Magic. |

I got my copy in December '04 and I've been playing it off and on since. There are still some skill combinations I want to try and I haven't even finished the Deep Dungeon, yet (and still some characters left to do fanart of, too).
Quote (sonicgamer) i just started two months ago my frend keeps saying i could have fishind it by now if i tried harder Heh, I remember my first two months with FFT. For two or three years. Though after playing it turn based strategy games died to me. Can't play Tactics ogre anymore because of it. Although in this time frame I've never managed to make it past the Velious fight...
