maybe nobody really does this, but my friend adrian and i once had a competition to see what the lowest level was that we could beat FF6 at. im not sure what i got, i think i was somewhere in the mid to low 50's, the hardest part for me was fighting the mini bosses in kefkas tower, more so than kefka himself, i never found him too hard.

adrians highest level was 47. meaning i got burned. bad.

if anyone can remember, whats the lowest level you ever beat FF6?

i actually wrote it down to see if i could beat it again. And to this date, I haven't. The following were the characters used in the final battle and their levels

Terra: Level 44
Celes: Level 41
Sabin: Level 50
Cyan: Level 40
Gau: Level 45
Shadow: Level 47
Edgar: Level 39
Locke: Level 39

I had Celes, Gau, Shadow, and Locke battling Kefka. Which was a sinch with Gau raged to Tyranosaur [Rage: attack, Meteo] and Shadow throwing shurikens. It was getting through the "entertainment" that was the challenge.

well, on my current file, in which i'm at the end of Kefka's tower actually, I have:

Sabin: level 43
Celes: level 44
Shadow: level 46
Mog: level 48

i've been a FEW levels lower before, but i didn't have the moogle charm then, so i gained a few getting to the end.

it's actually pretty easy even at these levels, so you could probably get lower without too much trouble.

Gotta say I'm impressed with all of you. Really I'am because I never let my characters in any Final Fantasy have a lower level than 70 at the crucial time.

I'm not positive on the levels, but the first time i beat the game the max hps were about 3102 or so, I think everyone had just gotten high enough that nobody was in the 2ks.  So whatever that level is, there it is.

The lowest levels I ever beat the game was with my friend Jeff's file. He was in the low 40s when I did it, and it was very tricky because he didn't have very good armor, weapons, and hardly any magic. But I managed somehow.

With my files tho I never have anyone very low because I am the insane type that level up way beyond proportions. :)

30-something...

Now, some people beat it with level of 6 or so, highest being 14  :o . Of course, in a LLg. What a hard work...

Well, actually, it is VERY possible.

See those low level guides?  Those aren't for people who think 30 is low.  Hell, the way the game is set up, you could beat this game with all level 1 characters if it were possible to be that low by game's end.

Now, I haven't gone through one of these challenges honestly.  I'd rather not spend such ungodly amounts of time doing so.  That's just me.

Yeah, dude, you might want to consider taking a vow of silence when it comes ot the J Man. He, along with the rest of us, do not take kindly to pompous new members.

Personally, that's not the way *I* work, but those are the ground rules, and you need to respect them, lest you want to be dragged to THE TREE, the one with THE FRUIT.

Amen. In any RPG I play I'll generally give priority to learning all the skills I can before focusing on stat building.

That's insane.

I always level up my characters insanely when I go anywhere.  It's more fun to me to be able to squash the Big Bad Boss ™ in two swings of an ax.

Usually, the characters that stay in the party most (Terra, Celes escpecially, then Edgar, Sabin, Shadow, etc.) end up at 70 or so, then falling down to 60s and 50s for the secondary characters.  The least-used characters usually end up in the 40 to 50 area.  I've only maxed out two characters to date: Shadow and Terra, on separate games (due to boredom and impatience).

Edit
My brother could never understand why I would do that.  I'd level up insanely anywhere new I went that the enemies were tougher...but at least the money was good. 8)

lowest level i ever beat it at was in the upper teens. I never kept anyone in my part (unless i had no choice) longer than maybe an hour or so- and ran from alot of battles. the hardest part is beating kefka's tower of mosters. (to make this easier and not gain any experience- learn doom then go to the triangle island in the world of balance and fight the intangir until you learn vanish (you only gain 10 Magic Points per battle and no experience).

hats off to heal rod though, he's even got me beat.

Low level guides?  Click.

I also know of a japanese low level site, but Babelfish translated it so horribly I don't think it would help much.  Besides, I also don't think it covers anything that those two documents don't already (or at least I couldn't make out anything not already known on this side of the pond).  It does cover more than FF6 though, so if you think it's any benefit to you, click here.

My basic strategy is "go for it and kill anything in the way."  No running, no V/D tricks, just hit 'em till they die.  However, my current party is at an average level of 37 entering Kefka's Tower, and has completed ALL side-quests.  For a party that fights every battle it gets in to the end, I think that's pretty decent.

It is not so suprising to beat this game a low level. When I was ten, I beat this game for my first time at level 28.

Just thinking about it makes me think how long ago that was. Damn, next year Final Fantasy VI, will be around ten years ago.
