I'm not saying they will even release them at all on handhelds, but IF the Playstation Final Fantasies were rereleased on either the PSP or the DS which handheld do you think they would debut on.

It seems obvious to me that they would appear on the DS for these reasons...

1. Square-Enix is a Japan based company and tries to make their games appeal to the Japanese audience, and in Japan the DS is outselling the PSP 3 to 1.

2. Square and Nintendo have teamed up more then once to bring past Final Fantasies on to Nintendo handhelds (FF I-VI).

Of course, one might say that the DS's cartridge's would be incapable of handling the FMV heavy games but look at Resident Evil 2 for the PS2 and N64. RE 2 took up two discs on the PS1, but it was succesfully compressed onto one N64 cartridge with all of the FMV's in tact. And IIRC the DS cartridges can actually hold more then most N64 cartridges could.

Look at Namco for example, they could have just ported Xenosaga I and II to the PSP but instead they chose the hard way and recreated Xensaga I+II for the DS with anime cutscenes.

I'd go for the DS. Only because i don't have a PSP. but since the PSP is PlayStation Portable, it is possible that it may be out on that. Who knows, they could release it on both.

Still, only speculation.

I couldn't see any of those games fitting on a DS cartridge, with 125Mb of space, to be honest.

Now the UMD, with 1.8Gb, or with help from 4Gbs of extra storage, I can see it on the PSP.

DS all the way. I own a DS that is why, and we need some more good DS games (At least Sonic Rush is coming out on DS next month), but DS all the way.

Can't they do a switch-cartridge thing? Like storing it on 2+ cartridges? The only game i ever remember using that is Banjo-Kazooie for the N64. They were going to use it so that when you get the Crystal Key in Banjo-Kazooie, it comes up with a menu saying switch to Banjo-Tooie. However, they ever went through with the plan. I don't know whether that is because it is actually impossible to switch a game cartridge, or that it was a stupid idea. Has anyone ever heard of a game with more than one?

never heard or seen any two cartridges games, but what if you save the data into the system, and then put the second cartridge?

I love the DS and all, but the PSP just makes more sense to me, with the UMD and all.

I'm a bigger fan of the DS but I still think that it would be released on the PSP. They would probably want to add things to it and I can't see them really being ableto add as much with the DS.

FF7 is only 50 megs.

So... what about the FF games on Nintendo consoles? Like the originals? Which were, in my biased opinion, better than the newer ones.

And unless they upped the graphics (which wouldn't surprise me), they wont be on PSP. Certain PS-Fans like 'pretty' games over 'good' games. I think they'll be out on DS. And newer FF games that are in production right now will be on PSP.

FF7 is only 50 megs.

So, the fact it uses not one but three PS1 discs which can store up to around 700MB has nothing to do with this but instead the space it takes installed on your hard drive or something does?

Pfft, who needs this narrowly-gained B in Higher Computing (or even the B in Int 2 Maths) which told me that logically you'd only need one disc then? Clearly not Square who streched 50 megabytes onto three discs and wasted about 2050 MB of space!

Seriously, got any proof, and also and explanation as to why they give you three discs on PS1?

The trouble is, it seems physically impossible to put the PS games on one cart. And we're aware there are certain "fans" who think that it looking good is better than plot. Of course, the word "fans" might have a "-nnie" missing between the n and the s.

Besides, every FF released on Ninty consoles since FF7 has been woeful or just a re-release. And I don't think PSP can handle the newer games. Esepcially when PS3 (All PS FF's at the moment) and Revolution (Crystal Chronicles) or DS (GBA releases) can already do that kthanks.

However, here's a horrifying and off-topic bit of speculation: PS3's Blu-Ray and, if it had it used for games rather than "at some point in the future we'll get you suckers to give us more cash to watch movies", XBox360's HD DVD, could probably store EVERY pre-10 FF game on ONE disc.

Size matters. Sometimes.

Now then, to actual buisness, I'd rather see them on probably the DS, but since it's higly likely it may be impossible, I guess the PSP wins by default.

I'd say PSP, just because the originals were on a sony console, and the swith would be easier than from Sony to Nintendo

Eh...I'd go for the PSP. It could definately use a sweet FF re-release, and it would be closer to normality considering there are two screens on the DS, and there might be a little 'peer pressure' to make use of both screens with that pen-thing.

Whoops, my mistake. Looks like the size of some of my files slipped in there by accident.

Obviously I'd say DS, 'cause I don't have a PSP. But, with the touch screen 'n' all, lots of new stuff could be added. Like, touch screen games in the Golden Saucer!? I am, like, soooo there. But obviously, yeah, it would make more sense to put it onto PSP, because original FF7 was out on PS1.

Yoshimitsu, I wasn't talking about the originals being better or leaving them in the dust. I started playing FF on SNES, k. I meant that I switched to PS so I could keep playing and I'd just rather not do more system jumping... for me to run out and by a GBA and a DS so I can get the updated versions (which I wish they would have done on the PS re-releases in the first place) just isn't a viable option. I'm not a rich gamer like these companies seem to think we all are...
