for the 2005-2006 nfl season who do you think has a chance at going to the superbowl

for me it's; Denver Broncos, Indianapolis Colts, Cinncinnati Bengals, Chicago Bears, Carolina Panthers

Broncos: Having a pretty good season, has a nice record 9-2, lost to dolphins and the giants, by just not playing at their potential. Also unlike the chargers they are a team with no real standouts, just a team. No LT or Antonio Gates for them. Although they won't face off against the colts during the season, judging by how the steelers did vs. colts, they still have a chance. THey will have to have no slip ups though

Colts: No-Huddle offense, currently undefeated season, a fast and strong defense
definately have a very haigh chance of going to the superbowl

Bengals: Finally the team is having a winning season, lead by Carson Palmer. They have finally started doing good, but will still have to beat a team like the colts, if they want to go to the superbowl. The bengals have also recently adopted the "no-huddle" offense

Bears: have developed later in the season than most teams, currently have the best defense, stomping out teams for the win. The chicago bears have become very fun to watch, being in the NFC they won't have to worry about any teams like the colts to get in their way of a superbowl.

Panthers: Pretty good season going 8-3 still have a chance at going to the superbowl

What are some of your thoughts?

I don't know why you're so enchanted by a no-huddle offense, all it is is just speed tactics to catch the D off guard. Most every team in the NFL can do it pretty well, but the Colts have been using it almost every few plays for the past several years.

In the AFC, it really comes down to who can beat the colts. A few weeks ago I would have said that only the Bengals and Steelers would have had a great shot of that, but I was obviously proven wrong. However, both of those teams will very likely make the playoffs and possibly eventually have a seond chance at the Colts. Lewis, Cowher, and LeBeau are all defensive masterminds who will do their best to correct any flaws in their gameplan from their first games.

The only other team in the AFC that I think has a good chance against the Colts is one that might not even make the playoffs - the Chargers. Their offense is possibly the most potent in the league on a good day, with LT capable of taking over a game at any time. However, the Chargers' extreme bad luck in early-season close games (the only team in the league with worse luck is my Skins) and their brutal remaining schedule could do them in. The Broncos are the most overrated team in the league. They shouldn't have beaten the Redskins, they shouldn't have beaten the Chargers, and they shouldn't have beaten the Cowboys.

The NFC situation is a bit stranger. The Bears defense has been outstanding the entire year, and it seems that their seven game winning streak has only recently come under the league's attention. They could very easily be the 2000 Ravens or 2002 Bucs of this year, but their offense is even more suspect than that of those two other past Super Bowl winners, so they have their skeptics. The Panthers have a very solid offense and defense, but their loss to the Bears a few weeks ago raised some more doubt. The Giants, Cowboys, and Seahawks also have a solid chance of a playoffs run, but their situations don't look as strong as those other two teams.

So that's my two cents. The Colts have the best chance at the Super Bowl, by far, and after that it's mostly about which teams can hang with them

having been a loyal bengals fan ever since i was in junior high id love to see them go all the way. im so used to them being bad, this year almost seems unreal, but i kinda expected in a way :S lol. i believe cincy will make the playoffs, but it seems like the colts cant be stopped right now.

the other teams i think have a decent chance are carolina, SD, and the seahawks.

steve smith is a beast at WR, and shaun alexander and LT was the best backs in the league right now.

I'm hoping the Kansas City, Chiefs go to the Superbowl.... Well, it's mostly a wish, if anything. They haven't been since the 1970s, I think.

AFC:

Division Winners:
North: Cincinatti
East: New England
West: Denver
South: Indianapolis
WC: San Diego, Jacksonville

AFC Championship: Colts over Chargers.

These should be some good games all around, with all six teams coming in pretty solid (although New England will have to rely on their experience.) I think the Chargers look like the second best team in the AFC, but it's a distant second. The Colts look like the late 80s 49ers, when all the pieces were in place.

NFC:
North: Chicago
East: New York
West: Seattle
South: Carolina
Wildcard: Minnesota, Dallas

I think the team that gets home-field advantage will win the NFC. This means my Bears need a little more help, so they don't have to go to Seattle or Carolina. With no passing game at all, they need the brutal January Chicago weather to take the other team's passing game away and make it all about running and defense, which I don't think anyone in the NFL can beat the Bears at right now. To be optimistic I'll go with Chicago over Seattle.

Super Bowl: Colts over Bears

Unfortunately, the game is in a dome and not in, say, Buffalo. Short of the Ford Field roof falling off the day before the game, there's little chance the Bears can beat with the Colts. The good news? Only 1 defensive starter (Hunter Hillenmeyer) isn't signed through next year.

The advantage to a "no-huddle" offense is that you call a formation, wait and see how the defense lines up, and then call out the play best suited to deal with it, and you can also point out a blitz, its gives the offense (if the QB is good enough) an advantage over the defense.

this last sunday the Broncos lost to the chiefs, which wasn't really a showing of their team as a whole, the bronco defense wasn't really there that day, enabling the chiefs to score too many points, and also Jake Plummer made three hasty throws that lead to the chiefs winning the game. Denver still has a chance

Chargers are coming together, but i don't think they're the 2nd best AFC team
they're tied for third with the broncos in my book, the second place team has to be the bengals. Who I think has the highest chance of beating the colts. The only thing the Bengals need to work on is defense, specifically preventing the offense from gaining, they seem to be more focused on getting an interception, or a fumble. which is good, but the bengal defense needs to find the nice happy medium. If this happens the bengals will beat the colts. Since bengals offense has gotten even better throughout the season.

In the NFC i agree with gears completely that it's going to be the bears, but over carolina. i don't think seattle will make it that far.

Indy and Carolina/Seattle in the Super Bowl. Colts win, caooing off a perfect season.

And before anyone screams "fanboy!", I'm a Falcons fan. happy.gif
