Alright, in this I'm going to discuss with you and tell how to make my own idea of a 'Fighter Job Class' character. He is VERY very powerful, stronger than Orlandu himself, and uses his Bare Hands. Yes, he is stronger than a monk on steroids.
1. First off, get a MALE Monk. (If you use a female, the results aren't as good. I know the game IS sexist, isn't it?) Master all his abilities, at least his Punch Art, I don't give a damn if you get the rest of the stuff. (Counter attack is nice though.) 2. Be a Ninja and get the Two Swords ability. (Also, if you don't like Counter Attack, Blade Grasp from the Samurai works good.) 3. Be an Archer, and master his Charge(s). 4. Buy the 'Power Sleeve' armor and the 'Twist Headband' helmet and equip your Archer with him. 5. Get T.G. Cid, steal his Bracer, and give it to your Archer. 6. Getting him to a high level would be nice. Anything to make his 'Physical Strength' go up helps him become even more powerful than before. I've gotten his attacks to do up to 7-900 points of damage each. EACH. Yes, I am God, aren't I? |

If you're using Two Swords as your support I'd assume you're going back to a Monk at some point. Monks can't equip Twist Headbands, or any helmets. If you're using a Ninja, you'd need Martial Arts, not Two Swords.
And why wait for Orlandu's Bracer when they can be purchased much earlier? That said, I've done this as both a Monk/Two Swords and a Ninja/Martial Arts, and yes, the results are nice. Don't know that I've gotten 7-900 damage, but I don't level an insane amount either. I somewhat prefer the Ninja for better speed and movement range, but either works very well. -------------------- Wasabi Viniagrette: Mix 1/3 C rice vinegar, 2 Tbsp sesame oil, and 2 tsp powdered wasabi. OLD. He also has next to no HP, next to no evade (Blade Grasp or Abandon could help that, but where's the magic?), Charge is a pretty terrible support, his attacks have poor range (don't fire back Wave Fist and Earth Slash as counterexamples, either, those are two way overrated abilities), and Orlandu's still better because he can equip any non-feminine armor, helmet, and shield in the game as well as Chaos Blade and Excalibur. A Two Swords Monk is pretty effective, but your discovering this setup does not make you "God." That setup can probably tear up most anything in the game, but then again Tactics is such an easy game almost any setup can.

The powerful Archer is a good set-up and an excuse to put the Charge skill to use. Instead of Two-Sowrds support ability, I'd go for Martial Arts for the Punch Arts, but something different you want the ranged physical damage. Maybe Attack Up for (even more) power or I'd suggest Short Charge for the stronger Charges. If I wanted a supreme powerhouse generic character, I'd use another set-up that I find GREAT for my preferences.

I can hardly see how the power sleeves & twisted headband can be useful for an archer with a bow equipped. If he's bare-handed, it's better to leave him as a monk. Short charge doesn't work with charges/jump, so that would be useless.
Overall, getting Reis, raising her brave to 97, and leveling her up would a much better idea. Martial Arts if would want but you should fastly reach a 999x2 dam rapidly with her bare hands. Your setup is far from being comprehensible, so I can't tell anything good about it. -------------------- Sayonara |

Yeah, I didn't think the Martial Arts skill did Anything.
It doesn't make his stats go up, and in battle he does exactly the same as if he had any old support skill. ![]() And I must agree with you that Charge is pretty screwed in the head, but I've tried my idea with other job classes and for some reason I think it works better with an Archer. I think he gets extra Physical Strength by being an archer or something, but I'm not entirely sure. Why would you assume I'm going back to a Monk because of using Two Swords? A Two-Sworded monk would be great I'm sure, but they can't equip headgear (unless it's Cloud or a girl then they can equip the Ribbon or something.) and the Twist Headband gives you an extra 2 for your Physical Strength which is the basis of the whole character (because it makes him hit really hard. ![]() I didn't know you could buy bracers before Orlandu.. Huh. As for Range, that's pretty much the whole point. He was designed to be a close range fighter. If I wanted a long range, I'd give him equip change as a support and then make him use a bow or something. Hmm.. There's an idea... ![]() |

Quote (Alias X Beoulve @ 27th November 2005 10:33) Why would you assume I'm going back to a Monk because of using Two Swords? Because (1) Archers have pretty lousy HP growth compared to Monks, even without a helmet; and (2) Archers can only use Martial Arts *OR* Two Swords, whereas a Monk can use both simultaneously, outweighing both the Archer's slightly better AT growth and the +2 AT from the Twist Headband. Quote (Zodiac @ 26th November 2005 18:20) I can hardly see how the power sleeves & twisted headband can be useful for an archer with a bow equipped. Longbows use the same damage equation as ninja swords, [(AT + Sp) / 2] * WP. Power Sleeve would be good, Thief Hat would be better than Twist Headband (same damage, more speed, more HP). That said, he's talking about a barefisted Archer with Two Swords ![]() This post has been edited by red_beard_neo on 28th November 2005 06:37 -------------------- Wasabi Viniagrette: Mix 1/3 C rice vinegar, 2 Tbsp sesame oil, and 2 tsp powdered wasabi. I'm sorry but the simplest way to get 900+ damage each attack is raising beowulf's brave to 97, two hands, and excalibur (and a bracer makes it always above 900)
and reis is another character that can get 900+ easy, which was already listed above that complex archer build doesn't really standout as a star as stated by lazlow low evade and hp and punch art is only for distance fighting, and minor healing with the only useful skills being earth slash, wave fist, and chakra while someone as orlandu can bust out alll those mad skills, and have high HP as aholy swordsman, and still have punch art as a secondary skill, and deal well over 900 damage each attack I'm sorry but that build isn't that special -------------------- "Have you ever seen a baby do that before?" |

The character mentioned in the first setup.... I would have no patience with. I detest the charge skill in Tactics. I hate charge times, period. That's probably why I don't use magic in that game. Like, ever.
As for the God comment..... pshaw, as if. ![]() My "god" character is Orlandu, Knight class, with Two Swords, Blade Grasp, and Move +3 as his skillset. Equipment is the Chaos Blade, Excaliber, Maximillian, Grand Helm, Feather Mantle, and Bracer. Consistent 999dmg, 900dmg. That is a fairly spiffy idea, though I'm not too keen on the whole 'Charge' support either. I did essentially the same thing, except it was just a Master Ninjai/Master Monk. He liked to punch things. Hard. Twice over. Made for a good time.
However, what I have created that kicked some mean ass was my Master Thiefette/Master Ninja. She was badass. Girl moved ridiculously fast and ridiculously far with Move +3 and some Red Shoes or whatever they are. She was, like, everywhere. Definitely used her as my item hunter in the Deep Dungeons. Plus, once I got that armour that renders the wearer "transparent" until they do something, she was ideal for item hunting and just plain assassinating things. There was much enthusement. ^__^ -------------------- Games on the Go Final Fantasy VII Final Fantasy: Four Warriors of Light Baldur's Gate Too much to play, so little time! Greg |

I'd have to say that it is a good idea, but there are other, more easier ways. And why use Charge? Yes, it could increase attack strength, but alot of people don't like to wait. There is an easier way to to give damage around 900, but I forget how because I haven't played the game lately. I do know that you should get Hamedo from the Monk job class, attack up from the Geomancer class ,and Move+3 is useful. I think that you need to use the class that has the best HP increase, then equip the strongest gear available. Two swords ability is good, but the way I did it didn't require that ability. I also know that Orlandu might be the best person to use this with. Night Sword should do around 978 HP damage when done correctly. But you can use the equip settings on anyone. God? don't think so.
