Anyone here play Romance of the 3 kingdoms, or Dynasty Warriors?
I love ROTK VIII, Im trying out being a ruler and expanding my territory, and I'm doing pretty good. I own almost half of the map, and Lu Bu is on my side. When I started out, I made 4 custom characters as specific NPC vassals: One good at WAR, one good at INT, one good at POL, and one good at CHR. I kick butt at all the battles. My favorite characters in DW IV is Zhou Tai, Zhao Yun, Zhuge Liang, Xiaohu Dun, and Lu Bu. I also like the Custom Character mode in DWIV: Empires Anyone else have any strategies, favorite charaters, and whats your favorite KOEI game? Edit Quote Oh, and I think the samurai-esque guy you're thinking of is Zhou Tai, strikerbolt. He's one my Chinese friend's favorite characters. Thanks Laszlow! I'm not a big fan of DW by any means, but I do enjoy the Romance series a great deal. It's a lot of fun to get three or four guys together conquer separate portions of China and then to take those separate parts for your own territory

Every DW game is exactly like every other DW game, but my friends and I still occasionally play DW 4 and DW 4XL.
I like a variety of weapons. My favorite characters have always been Lu Bu, Ma Chao, Xu Zhu (gotta love his multiple stomp attack), and Wei Yan). I think I've killed Cao Cao (according to one of my friends, a Chinese language major, it's actually pronounced "tsiao tsiao" or something like that) at least a hundred times over the past two or three years. Oh, and I think the samurai-esque guy you're thinking of is Zhou Tai, strikerbolt. He's one my Chinese friend's favorite characters. -------------------- |

My sister and I have recently started a game where the both of us are rulers, we take China as Allies, and then fight over it. With my luck at this game, Im going to win Now if only ROTKVIII had a completley blank map... -------------------- Neneko is Neneko because Neneko couldn't be Neneko if Neneko wasn't Neneko! --as quoted from Neneko, Mahoraba {Heartful Days} I can stab a man with a thick paperback book thru the ribcage. |

I can't say I've played either of the mentioned titles, but I have played Uncharted Waters for the SNES. I really liked it (though, the music kinda got grating after awhile). It's this game about sailing, and you have either 4 or 5 characters. You can play for the different world powers at the time or on your own as a pirate.

I am a fan of the ROTK novel. I have to say the best series is Dynasty Warriors. The 'simple' justification for them being 'the same' is that you can't make a sequal to a historical game. But as it stands, if you're not a big fan a can quite see why it's really not worth following the series. Mebbe just buy one every 5th game. =P
But Omega Force (the developers) seem to be a fan of revamping the same arcade carnage style. Just need to look at Samurai Warriors to see that. In the end though, if you play any two Dynasty Warrior games you can see that there are some really big changes. It's only if you play them all (XL optional) that you can see how horribly same-y they actually are. After that Kessen wins marks...especilly Kessen II. God that game is funny if you know the history. XD Try to imagine a WWII game with France allied with Germany fighting against Nazi America using giant robots and you'd get a 'hint' of how historically inacurate Kessen II is. hehe. Quote (according to one of my friends, a Chinese language major, it's actually pronounced "tsiao tsiao" or something like that) It is, but I think the American way of saying it is fun. Especially the way they say Cao Pi! XD What's more 'Zhang' should be pronounced 'Jang'. Especially as it's such a common Chinese name... Quote Oh, and I think the samurai-esque guy you're thinking of is Zhou Tai He's not a samurai! >< He just...stole...a katana...yeah...damn pirates. Quote Anyone else have any strategies, favorite charaters, and whats your favorite KOEI game? Fave character? Hmmm...in DW5 I'd say Ling Tong or Sima Yi. Fave KOEI game is tougher, as they are a publisher not a developer. They did release the Nippon Ichi games in the UK though, so I'd say Disgaea. Where can I find a copy of the novel? I've been having problems finding one and I was hoping I could get one for myself when I get my bonus... LOL I think the same way. Do you pronounce the Pi as Pie or P by the by? either way is hilarous. -------------------- Neneko is Neneko because Neneko couldn't be Neneko if Neneko wasn't Neneko! --as quoted from Neneko, Mahoraba {Heartful Days} I can stab a man with a thick paperback book thru the ribcage. |

I got mine from Amazon. Just do a search on Romance of the Three Kingdoms. They had it for about $30 US when I got it. You can also find a few chapters online here and there...
For info on individual generals (playable or not) try kongming.net And it's Pie, not Pee...hehe, I love how they say 'Cow Pee'. -------------------- The Arcana are the means by which ALL is revealed. |
