I can't believe it's taken this long for a Mega Man thread to open. Who else here is a fan of the games? Which is your favorite/least favorite?
I really like playing as Forte in Rockman and Forte, but my favorite Megaman game is MMX2. Though it's nice to have difficult games, MMX2 wasn't overly impossible, and it was nice that even though the last boss had many stages (as usual), they weren't that bad to defeat. For me, normal Sigma in MMX was extremely hard, and in MMX3, Kaiser Sigma after he's huge was damn near impossible. I'm also not a big fan of the NES MM games, but that's not to say they're bad. They're still entertaining. ![]() -------------------- Hey, put the cellphone down for a while In the night there is something wild Can you hear it breathing? I'm a Megaman purist, I only really like the original series. 3 is the only one I still own, but I would vote for 4 as best of the series. 5 wins for hardest, though. I don't think X was bad, but I think it started losing the simplicity and stellar play control, which is what made the series brilliant to start with.

I played MMX a few times and I LOVED it, but I kinda "lost" it. Anybody know where I can download something from the series?

My favorite is MMX4, and the only one I still own.
Zero rules. Very fun bosses, good story line, and I love the anime cut scenes. -------------------- "And that, my liege, is how we know the Earth to be banana-shaped” -Sir Bedevere the Wise |

Oh Mega Man is a fun game, yay, It keeps me wanting much more...Oh hell yeah!
Oh Mega Man is all that I play, in fact I never get bored! Okay, enough with the Mega Man remixes. But seriously, Mega Man games are uber-cool. Favorite? I'm not so sure. I would have to say either MMX or MMX2. I like the X games, and 3 and above are way too hard. X and X2 are at a good difficulty level, with pretty good powers. Least Favorite? None. I dunno, I just think all of the games are really fun. Actually, the only thing that makes the X games better are just the fact you can upgrade and get the Upgraded Buster and Armor and such. Yeah. -------------------- I find your lack of faith disturbing... |

I love Megaman! Â Robotic platforming action at its finest. Â One thing that seperates Megaman from the pack is the ability to get attached to the characters. Â Not to mention that Megaman is the theme for one of my favorite sprite comics, "Bob and George."
My favorite Megaman character of all time is Protoman (Blues in the Japanese version).  He has it all; the brains, the brawn, the attitude, and a really cool whistle. My favorite Megaman game is probably Megaman 3, followed closely by Megaman 2.  Both were great in terms of gameplay, music, and entertainment, but Megaman gets the nod for the first appearance of Protoman, as well as a better storyline. My least favorite games would probably be the later parts of the X series. Though the first X game was a great idea, I think that at that point they were really running out of ideas, and the newest X games lack innovation, and are sort of boring in that sense, no matter how much they amp up the difficulty.  I'm also not a huge fan of the Megaman Zero game for the GBA; not sure why, but something about that installment just got on my nerves. -------------------- "I always have a quotation for everything - it saves original thinking." ~Dorothy L. I thought MM7 wasn't very good. Â The bosses were either much too difficult or much too easy, and Turbo Man's stage is incredibly frustrating. Â I did eventually beat it but it took a lot of work and a lot of save states. Shade Man's stage had incredible music, though, probably my favorite music in any MM game, except for maybe the Robot Junkyard in MMX2 or Cold Man's stage in Rockman and Forte.

MM3 and MM2 were the best two hands down. MM3 being the hugely best since it had all the MM2 bosses in it, mwahaha. I heart Megaman.

Mega Man 7 was pretty frustrating for me, as well, but not because of the bosses. Dr. Wily's final form at the end of that game was IMPOSSIBLE. (At least for me.) To this day, I have yet to beat it, even with four E-Tanks.
Otherwise, I really enjoyed the game. Getting all those cool items was a plus (Proto Shield, whoo hoo!), and I loved that little minigame with Street Fighter Mega Man. -------------------- "I always have a quotation for everything - it saves original thinking." ~Dorothy L. when i was younger, i was absolutely obsessed with mega man. i drew a lot of pictures of him in the margins of my notebooks in school and filled up whole notebooks with codes and tricks and things. i never really cared much for any mega mans past 6 though, so i only still have the 6 originals. i think my favorite would have to be 2, thats when it got a little more character to it than the first one, and it wasnt overly difficult at all. 4 was the first one i ever played or bought though so thats still one of my all time favorites. i loved how they never DRASTICALLY changed graphics or gameplay, making more to get used to from game to game, something that game designers love to do. i recently started playing megaman on my old nintendo again, but i cant say it really has the challenge that it once did, me now being kind of more seasoned than i was way back when, but its still enjoyable nonetheless.

I like Megaman X. (the first one)
It's a really good action game. (Ohh how much I hate you Sting Chamelon...) But I can never beat a megaman game. I got to Sigma in MMX, and got creamed OVER and OVER again. But it's all about the secret "Haduken" powerup.
I played 2-6 at some point, my memory is really hazy. Â 3 was the best, gemini man was the man (pun intended). I never had a chance to play MMX4 because it was on PS, but MMX2 was cool (getting Zero's parts, though really hard, was a neat idea) and X3 was unbeatable. My favorite was Mega Man 2 because it was the first Mega Man game I ever played and the one I can get the farthest in. I haven't played it yet but I've heard that Mega Man Legends is the worst Mega Man game.

Megaman legends was actually very enjoyable, though it does have a tendency to glitch a lot, like in towns you can only kick, and at a boss fight in town, the game occasionally glitches and acts like your not facing a boss, and you have to kick him to death ![]() -------------------- This one time I punched a bear in the forehead TO DEATH! the only ones ive beaten were X, X2, and X4.
ive never beaten any of the regular megamans, cause ive never tried fighting last bosses yet. of those having trouble in mmx, on the dog use ice or stay in the top corner and lauhed charged missles. for sigma with lightsabre use charged spark. for final form use the armadillo shield thing. I say the average player can beat it with 3 full sub tanks. X2's last boss was really easy, the sigma with claws i just used buster and learned to dodge his attacks. for virus form, use the thing you get from wire sponge. X3 I havent beat yet, im at the end. the first guy I went for is Blizzard buffalo. hes not so hard, he goes really slow so you can just hit him with charged shots. Megaman Legends is pretty cool, going places finding parts to make weapons, i thought that was very enjoyable. there were a few things about the game i didnt like, like flying 10 yards when accidently touching an enemy, and the costs for upgrading weapons. I spent like 6 hours one day just trying to get enough money to upgrade the hoiming missles to infinite shots. ![]() -------------------- Why do kamakazi pilots wear helmets? |

Okay, my going with MMX's:
MMX: Random order of fighting bosses (actually beat Octopus without dashing...) MMX2: everything except Sigma+Claws is easy - he's too fast for me. MMX3: Bit and Byte are a challenge, but noone else (Oh, I love you Sigma in battle body...so slow... so off target... so easy...) Okay, so I DID have problems with Sigma's first form but he's way easier than the claw one. -------------------- "I fell off the mountain of words at around the 10,000ft mark. Hmm...there've been a lot of comments about Sigma with Claws, but I've never had any problems with him. The best thing you can do is use Overdrive Ostrich's power and have those little boomerang things constantly circling throughout the room. They'll hit him on the ground and also right as he comes back from vanishing. The only thing you have to do then is jump on the walls if he send the electric field at you, dodge him when he dashes at you, and dodge when he throws sparks. You could also just use the Shoryuken on him, but it's kinda hard to connect because he disappears a lot.
It's Sigma's second form in MMX3 that always gets me...the head is just too darn small! I've beaten him but it's always really difficult. Is there any type of trick or power that works well? -------------------- Hey, put the cellphone down for a while In the night there is something wild Can you hear it breathing? wow, thats gotta be tough. as for bit and byte, you should use the ice attack on bit and the drill attack on byte. they actually die instead of running away if you kill them with that. -------------------- Why do kamakazi pilots wear helmets? |

MMX4 is the only one I own, and I honestly think it's the most fun (out of the ones I've played, anyway, and I've played all of them except for X5, and I haven't beaten 6). Â
The only thing that bites is that I can't beat Magma Dragoon with Zero. Â That, and the voices SUCK (I imagined X's voice would be at least a little deeper). -------------------- "I sat alone and I didn't care, I sat two years in the same old chair, I saw three roads but didn't know, Which way to go-go-go" My Coco, stellastarr* |

Favorites... Classic Series: Mega Man 2 X Series: Mega Man X Zero Series: Mega Man Zero 2 Battle Network Series: None, they are hellishly boring. Least Favorites... Classic Series: Mega Man 5. Good LORD, that game was stale. X Series: Mega Man X5/Mega Man X6. They were very bad rehashes of a formerly successful formula. Zero Series: Mega Man Zero. Loved it, but I liked 2 more, making this my least favorite of the series. Battle Network Series: See above. Battle Networks sucks. |

The MM series was great. but then they ruined it with MMLegends with ruined the whole gameplay of the original MM's, My fav though would have to be MMX3, its a good game and the best in its series (i think).
