Terra usually ends up being my best. She usually gets Gem Box + Economizer, which + Morph = enemies gettin' pwned

It depends on what you mean by 'best'.
My favorite character is Celes, and I honestly couldn't tell you why. My best Magic user is probably Sabin, since his Blitzes are mostly Magical, so I raised his Magic from the start with Espers, and now he's a Powerhouse. For Physical attacks, it's Edgar, because Auto Crossbow's a free 9999 to all enemies. Mog comes in a close second with the Jump combo, but I use him more as of a tank. But when it comes down to it, I think that if you just stuck any one character in a battle and saw how they'd do, Terra would probably come out the best, since she's really balanced. |

I would have to say sabin is the best. When you first get him until the end of the game his blitzes rock. My second would have to be edgarbecause he has decent magic power and all those tool that are just so cool (chainsaw, flash, and autocrossbow in the beginnig)

My best character for the sole purpose of power is definately Locke. With the natural ability to equip either the Atma Weapon or the Valiant Knife, the Genji Glove - Offering combination has never been more devastating. At level 99, with 133 Vigor (I later found out that 128 is where its effect peaks), Locke swings 8 times and does 9999 each time. This is at full HP. Eek.
For overall longevity, Celes probably lasts the longest. With Marvel Shoesl, a Ribbon, and the Paladin Shield, she doesn't go down without a fight. She isn't eactly powerful in comparison to Locke, for she can only do a single 9999 swing / magic spell. However, she usually gets the Scimitar, allowing the Odin effect to come into play every so often. For cheapness, Terra. She can do 9999 - 19998 damage in one swing, depending on whether or not the Illumina's Pearl spell kicks in. What makes her the scariest, however, is her ability to heal herself and damage her enemies in epic proportions. With a Flame Shiled, the Gem Box, and the Economizer, Merton rules the world. I don't care about Kefka's Light of Justice, she rocks his socks! Well, those are my main three. I'm debating on who I want my fourth dominator to be. I can't choose between Setzer ('cause slots saved my life when I was speed-running the WoB), Edgar ('cause he's cool), or Gogo. The one thing that bothers me about Gogo is that he/she can't equip espers. This cripples Gogo's speed, which would really just end up annoying me. ... I just can't choose between Stezer and Edgar... feedback? Anyone? Lemme know what you think of my Celes / Locke / Terra team, please. I look forward to reading the rest of everyone's posts. Oh yeah, first post here... hiya! |

My best character is usually Celes. I use her every chance I get, so she's always high level, and she always gets my best weapons and armor. I usually take the time to use espers when leveling her, so her stats go up. I also have a pretty good Sabin with a very high magic stat (thanks, Tritoch).

Locke and Terra. I like using them cause they are the main characters. Sabin and Celes is my next. Sabin is pretty useless in the end cause he cannot equip powerful weapon like Lumina.
Locke can deal 9999 x 8, Terra and Celes can deal 9999 x 2. (Locke with 1 Luminia and 1 Atma, Terra and Celes doublecast Ultima with only 2 MP) Sabin deals 9999 with Bum Rush. Deals 5000+ x 8 with normal physical attack. He is slow too. ![]() This post has been edited by Tidus on 31st August 2005 08:02 -------------------- Life is a passing dream, but the death that follows is eternal... |

Strago has to be the best magic user. With all lores and spells learned, he knows every possible spell in the game. Equipped with a ribbon and a gem box, he offers the most in versatility with defense and offense. Casting two spells per turn, and coupled with the Quick spell, he can cast out horrendous damage with a constant stream of Lores and Spells.

And how do both Celes and Terra doublecast... Only 1 Gembox in the game... And using 'Quick' would raise the MP cost to 3... -------------------- "A little tight, but the price was right" - Locke "Oh, what a Fuddy Duddy" - Relm "..." - Shadow "I'm a General, not some love starved twit" - Celes "Although Edgar showers his attention on the ladies, most are smart enough to pay him no attention. The Twins, man, the Twins. Every single game I play Edgar and Sabin always end up at the highest level, coz I use them for practically every part of the game, switching out the other two slots periodically.
My favorite party is Edgar and Cyan with Gauntlets, Sabin and Shadow with Genji Gloves. Just keep clicking *fight* and they'll waste practically anything in their path. -------------------- "Nothing exists, but atoms and the void" -Democritus |

Had to roll with Mog. Personally I don't think stats really plays much into it with a game like this. The game is so damn easy no matter what people can equip(merit award anyone?) or who they are or what their stats are, they can pretty much do whatever they want. It comes down to me liking Snow Muffler in the end. In fact I've never payed attention to stats at all in that game.
Genji + Merit award for the win, Alex. This post has been edited by MogMaster on 3rd September 2005 10:07 -------------------- If you've been mod-o-fied, It's an illusion, and you're in-between. Best Fighter: Locke (Valiant Knife, Atma, Illumina, or WingEdge + Genji Compatible - easiest to deal 9999 with Offering or Genji Glove).
Best Magic User: Strago (Powerful Lores, no one has more spells more readily available if you take the time to collect them) Celes is a good attacker/magic user, but she can really only equip Illumina w/o screwing over her Runic (Atma weapon is not Runic compatible) I know you all think the skill is worthless. It's under-used, not worthless. Try an LLG, it actually becomes powerfully useful time to time. Terra - she's a bit better choice for than Celes, but I would never put both an Atma and an Illumina on her at the same time, all the other characters in the game need weapons too, ya know. Sabin - his Bum Rush is swell and all, but beside that, he's just extremely physically powerful, but you'd be a fool to keep ordering him to 'fight' when his Blitzes almost always do more damage. He's a good character mid-way through the game, but w/o Bum Rush, he'd be a thing of the past once you start hitting high levels (50-ish). Edgar - His only saving ability is 'Tools'. Chainsaw, Drill and Autocrossbow. Noiseblaster is o-k every once in awhile, and I tend to abuse it personally. Debilitator is actually useful if you give it a try, but only against bosses or tough enemies w/o a weakness. (Think: that one enemy in Kefka's Tower that uses Gamma Rays and all that crap - tough SoB). His physical attacks are mighty worthless. Mog - He's a good choice for the Dragoon Boots + Dragon Horn. Other then that - his dances are relatively weak, and towards the end of the game - almost worthless. Gau - Very useful Rages, but it takes some knowledge to know how to use him. Wind God Gau strategy is proof of this. Cyan - worthless Swrdtch, Relm - worthless Control/Sketch, Umaro - beserked status + no stat gain, Gogo - no stat gain, Setzer - besides dice, not much power, Shadow - needs a stat boost for + damage to skeans and throw commands. I believe that's just about it. Seriously, at the end of the game, they're all the same, if leveled properly. I mean, my main character/magic user was Setzer with All Spells/Gem Box/Economizer/Fixed Dice, with Shadow and Umaro. Shadow's shurikens, at lvl 99, do 9999 damage, even the cheapest ones. He also had the main spells like Cure 3, Life 2 and Ultima. And Umaro? It's instant 9999, anytime, and I don't even have to tell him. That was my last party. No fourth member. A simple 2 men (and a sasquatch) run of Kefka Tower. Yeah, I got lucky in the epic battle: Umaro vs Goddess (or was it Doom...?). Funny to watch though.

Hmm, making an executive desicion on this one could be tough, but I can tell you my favorite party combo:
Celes Terra Sabin Gogo explanaiton: Celes can absorb magic, good for bosses Terra has high magic attack power, and can morph Sabin -- need I say more? I give gogo the Magic and Blitz commands. Between Celes, Terra, and Sabin he automatically knows all the magic they know when in the same party, and he also knows all the same moves as Sabin, so if sabin has bum rush, then gogo has bum rush. I've also read on many sites that Gogo is better for Blitzes than Sabin because he has higher magic attack power, but I have yet to confirm this... still, better to have 2 bum rushes than just 1! Backups: Mog-- His water rhondo comes in a pinch, and can restore the most hp. Umaro-- give him his special relics and he becomes a powerhouse Shadow-- he's a badass ninja. Do I need to say anything else? -------------------- Neneko is Neneko because Neneko couldn't be Neneko if Neneko wasn't Neneko! --as quoted from Neneko, Mahoraba {Heartful Days} I can stab a man with a thick paperback book thru the ribcage. |

This is a hard one! Well I can tell you my party anyways as some have done and my reasons why. Right now, everyone is around lvl 40 or so.
![]() Edgar- Im still getting a lot of use our of his chainsaw, but I wish he wouldnt go Jason on the bosses, waisting a turn soemtimes. I also keep him however because I just plain like him and his story. Sabin- Bum Rush is an easy to get and easy to execute blitz that makes Sabin well worth it. For some reason he learned magic real easilly for me, knos more than even Celes. ![]() ![]() Celes- Celes is my healer, but that might be because I equipped her with the half mp relic that I cant remember the name of right now. >< Shes great with magic, and fairly decent otherwise as well, plus for a magic user her Hps pretty decent. Cyan- Dont ask. Well okay, I have a friend who rps Cyan a lot and so I just kinda put him in my party. ctually dispatch is pretty useful. Though for some reason his ability to learn magic on my game was really below par. > > And thats it for me. I think it is all a matter of prefs really as some otehrs have said, but thats the cool thing about the game really. ![]() -------------------- Care to meet the goggled wolfie? Id have to say Sabin. Not only because of his terriffying bumrush, but because his strength is so high at lvl 99 w/ a little magicite help, equipped w/ the Offering he can be a deadly character dealing over 9999 hp damage in a single turn.

I have gau-cat scratch-merit award, gem box-economizer with terra.
I had been developing Terra as a fighter, and locke as a mage, but then I checked their stats once and Terra was still about 15 ahead of Locke with the magic damage. So Locke is a figher and mage, but right now Gau and Terra are in the lead. |

My best characters right now, in order are:
Celes - (she is my party healer) Sabin - (my best fighter. Bum rush = awesome) Terra - (knows most magic spells, equipped with Gold Hairpin) Cyan - (good fighter, love Quadra Slam, arguably best theme music) Shadow - (I like ninjas, and throwing stuff.) Mog - (Little white furry bear-cat thingies demand levelling-up.) The other characters I don't bother with much, and I haven't collected Locke, Strago and Gogo yet. I hate Phoenix Cave. ![]() -------------------- 'Bastards, we may be, but clever are we.' Thorn, FFIX |

At the endgame? How about a Mog that takes 1 damage from any attack and will block every single spell thrown at him? Paladin shield, Snow Muffler, Merit Award, Illumina, Safety Bit, and... pick whatever helm you want at this point. He's a walking, dancing tank. Put him into a dance against the final bosses and sit back. Read a book. Mog will kill everything for you.
