I haven't encountered any games that make me want to blow a gasket in quite awhile, but when I bought MGS2: Sons of Liberty, I really had a hard time playing through. Codec messages pop up all the time, the game stalls while you talk and talk, it's slow-moving in that there's so much backtracking, there are at least forty thousand cutscenes you get the "pleasure" of viewing...ugh.
Plus, the entire game takes place in two select locations, so it doesn't have the vastness that MGS3 has, for instance, and is generally not as fun. Perhaps that's because I played the series backwards, but it feels that way to me. Plus...Raiden? Get out of town. ;p -------------------- It's gonna be a glorious day I feel my luck can change |

In addition to my 'ye olde previous post of yore', I'd have to go with what Ronin said about sports games (well, maybe not his exact words): I can't stand nearly any of them nowadays, 'cept for some of the Mario versions. Older sports games like those on the SNES/Genesis and before were fun overall, I'll admit, especially NBA Jam. I loves me some NBA Jam. But presently, no. Either they've degenerated or I've completely lost interest in 'em. Perhaps that's the quality of a nerd, like Kotestu seems to suggest, although that doesn't make sense. I always thought just being a gamer meant you were a nerd...or was that a geek?

Lately, Morrowind has been quite annoying, it keeps crashing at the worst moments, and I have to spend more time getting to where I was. But that's more of a technical things.
LotR: Battle for Middle Earth: Overpowered Elves Halo: I can't stand the game for some reason, I honestly don't see what the fuss is about, it's just a first person shooter. -------------------- Could you repeat that? |

I finished with a time of 10:00:01, can you believe this POOP!! - FF series, monsters with Final Attack, it has haoppenend to me more than once, for example, I have one character alive, it has let's say 3333 Hp, and the final attack does 3334!, I just stop playin, next day I'll try it because I'm way too mad!! - The Bouncer, after finishing it, IS THAT IT??? -------------------- PS3 tag: TipoDLuffy "...quite possibly the greatest game ever made" |

For me it was King of Monsters for SNES. The Arcade version I liked quite a bit, imagine my disappointment when at home I encountered the atrocious controls, poor collision detection, and IMPOSSIBLE cpu controlled foes. My rage was legendary.
Also, while I like fighters I don't appreciate that in nearly every single one I'm expected to pull off expert combos like I'm some pre-adolescant with all the time in the world to study every nuance of the combo system. COME ON!!! ![]() -------------------- Quote Do you think we're forever? |

I also got pissed off at Super Ghoul's and Ghost's. And finally, I STILL can't beat the 1st boss in Illusion of Gaia. Great game. Annoying boss. -------------------- |

final fantasy 1 and 2 dawn of souls made me mad. it wasent ff1 it was ff2. at the very begining you have to go north to a town and for some reason the game programers made it where if you wanted to explore a littile, and strayed off course even a few footsteps you endup fighting monsters that you normaly didnt fight until further in the game and they would kill you in one hit since you just started out. and then you would have to start over.
![]() -------------------- In the begining their was nothing... then god said "let their be light".... and it was good. |

A game that makes me want to take a baseball bat to the system...hmm.
Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love this game. It's funny, a blast when it's at it's best and chock full of stuff to do. But ithas a dark sadistic side, leveling up. I like to level up, don't get me wrong again, but you have to level up alot in this game. It's an 80 hour game, and it's worth it, but easily 50-60 hours are just leveling up. Tedius leveling up. It's like Xenogears, it's a fun game to have played, it's can be a rather mean chore to play through, but it's worth it in the end. i really hate most games with random checkpoints so if you get royally out of ammo and armor and health they give you a checkpoint as in saying F***** you. they mostly do this on a first person shooter's like say halo 2.

Quote Final Fantasy 5 is one of those games you could make a hilarious drinking game out of, and most people would probably agree. Example: - Take one sip every time Lenna nearly kills herself trying to save a dragon. - Take one sip every time Cara and/or her cute little friends come to the rescue at the very last minute. - Take one sip every time the party has to hold Faris back as she screams "NOOO" and Syldra floats off to his/her death, only to reappear again later to save the day and die again. Even these simple three would get the average heavyweight sloshed within the first hour of play. It's rediculous. Nice... The one with FFIV is even better: -Take one sip everytime Edge acts like an asshole. If he's talking to Rydia, take two sips instead. -Take one sip everytime Rosa talks to Cecil with all of these "I love you and care for you" scenes. -Take one sip everytime Palom acts like a brat. -Take three sips after Cid jumps off the airship. -Take one sip everytime you see Kain betraying you. But anyways on topic, the games that really anger me are: Super Mario World - The castles are friggen hard. I can't stand the traps, I hate that, but I still am interested in beating them ![]() Final Fantasy IV - I can't stand that row & order.. (of course everybody already expected that) EhRgEiZ - I really hated the final battle in fighting game mode. It doesn't even show thge fighters' health and skill energy bars! And you have to take the sword from some stupid box or something to survive. |

- I abolsutely hated Final Fantasy VIII. Why? Well, junctioning? GO TO HELL. The most needlessly complicated system in a Final Fantasy to date, and not only that, but your magic is limited. Basically, without the GFS, you're essentially useless. The characters were horrible, the plot was redundant and half-assed at best, not to mention Squall's trademark "...".
Yeah, that game is burning in hell. I think I'm one of the few people that can't stand Dance Dance Revolution in any of it's shapes or forms; arcade or console style. It's just horrible! You're not even remotely dancing, just smashing your foot into a mat to make the horiddly pixelated people onscreen shake their respective booties. Hey, if you really want to dance? It's called a club, ladies and gentlemen. Stop the furious mat-tapping! The Sims is an insult to games everywhere. HEY EVERYONE! Let's make people sleep, date, use the toilet and lead totally eventless lives! SWEET! How about not? I've played this game twice, once just to finally entertain my curiousity over the hype around the game, the second time to remind myself why I had hated it so badly the first. Absolutely pointless. I'd rather make myself get up and go to the bathroom than tell some mumbling idiot to do the same. Those games take the cake for things that anger me. -------------------- Okay, but there was a goat! |

wow. I love the Sims. But they do get annoying when they won't read there cookbook just because their tired. Whine whine whine. It won't get you that promotion.
Then their's the original Zelda. I got stuck in that game so many times. I'm still at the 7th dungeon, with the grumbling boomarang warrior. And don't forget Megaman 2. I despise the boss before the final level in the castle. THe one with the cannons that you have to use bombs on. Grrrrrrrr... -------------------- |

I loved FFVIII and the junction system was fine.
Anyway, the game that makes me so angry is Soul Calibur 3. The AI is just too cheap and it forces you to use cheap moves to win. They also butchered Talim a lot >.< -------------------- And don't drive your car off a cliff like I did. Girl, no man is worth 10 points on your license. |

SCIII does have some pretty strong AI compared to the first three games in the series, but it really isn't all that difficult. If you're having trouble against their "cheap" tactics, then you just need to get better. The only fighting games that really get cheap are the ones with rule-breaking endbosses, like the King of Fighters games. I love KoF, but I also have bad memories of Orochi Iori and Rugal the mid to late 90s versions of those games. The likes of those two would make any casual fighting gamer of today cry themselves to sleep. -------------------- |

She is a bitch since she only uses a few select attacks and in a certain order. If I knew the name of her attacks, I'd tell you the exact moves she uses and when she does them. Added to that, the AI already knows what attacks you're gonna use so most of the time, they'll block your attacks. As my brother says, the minute you let go of the Guard button, the AI will rape you. Now, I'm really an intermediate player in SCIII, but my brother is nearing to be an expert and he still can't defeat some AI characters without being cheap. Olcadan, Kilik, and Setsuka are major pains in the ass. -------------------- And don't drive your car off a cliff like I did. Girl, no man is worth 10 points on your license. |

Well, if you know the exact sequence of attacks that she's going to perform, then why don't you GI them in time and then take advantage? You should at least be able to parry reliably if she's using the same attacks over and over. In most fighting games the difference between an experienced player and a casual player is the ability to handle "cheap" tactics. I'll admit that the AI can get reasonably difficult in SC games, but trust me, you haven't experienced real fighting game cheapness.

I second the loathing of the sims. Argh. It wouldn't be nearly so bad if they didn't spend 40 minutes using the restroom and an hour eating a snack. Whoa.
Also, Seiken Densetsu III. Poorer hit detection and game response than Secret of Mana. If there are a LOT of enemies on the screen, I can watch myself getting mashed by the suddenly overpowered armor knights. Bah! -------------------- Oh sure, I don't have to get kicked in the junk to activate it, but I like it anyway. -- Thief commenting on the difference between Throw and Blue Magic. |

Magna Carta: Tears of Blood. God, like everything in this game.
They took the battle system from Star Ocean and crossed it with the one from Legend of Dragoon to come up with a piece of absolute crap. It's like the bastard child of two good battle systems, and no one wants to own it. You have three characters, but you can only control one. The other ones just stand there while monsters run around and hit them. If you're moving, your ATB bar doesn't charge. If you miss a button press in the attack sequence, you lose the attack and do NO damage, but also use up chi--and you need chi to attack. If you don't have the right kind of chi floating around in the area, you're just screwed. The monsters, of course, are not burdened thusly. And the camera angles! Sometimes it starts you in a battle at the top of the battle area, and you can't see what's in front of you, so you have to wander blindly until you locate the monsters. (And your ATB bar isn't charging while you're moving, remember!) This problem extends out of battle, too. You're supposed to be able to sneak up on enemies you see on the map. Well, that's hard to do when the camera angle prevents you from seeing where the enemies are. I hate games that limit what you can do with something as stupid as the camera angle. And the characters all say such dumb things. They each have exactly one line per situation: attacking, defeating a monster, ending the battle. It gets old. Old old old. Also, all of the women are smuggling watermelons in their tops, but that's okay, because some of the men are fairly well endowed, too. No, seriously; there are two women on the front, only one of them is actually the male lead. And we're talking detail, too: there are some, ah, interesting contours involved with the melon smuggling, and the main character's combo attack gives you a great shot of his not-quite-covered-by-loincloth-like-pants butt. It doesn't even bother me from a sexualization standpoint, because everything in this game looks like it comes out of one of those Japan-only softporn computer games. I just never quite know whether the characters are going to continue to act like video game characters tend to act, or if they're going to grab an innocent bystander and drag them off to the inn at the slightest provocation. But, you know..it's still a pretty game, and the battles aren't completely impossible, and the story still seems kinda cool. It's just one of those things with a huge number of frustrations, and if these issues were resolved, this would be an awesome game instead of merely a mediocre one. That angers me just as much, if not more, than a thoroughly bad game would. -------------------- Veni, vidi, dormivi. |
