Yeah, I know there's another basketball thread, but this one's about the teams.

Just got back from the Bulls breaking my heart again tonight. Second straight coulda/shoulda/woulda game. I know the two games were against a very good Nets team and the team with their names already written on the championship trophy (Spurs). But us Bulls fans aren't satisfied with moral victories anymore. These are the games we need to be winning to jump from a team that had a very good year to one of the elite teams in the east.

So whose your team? How they doing? How they going to do?

oohh, nice topic gears, glad you started it. yup, bulls almost had that one. woulda been a nice win against the defending champs! anyways, well my fave team is the los angeles lakers....always has been since i knew what bball was! with phil back i honestly think LAL will make the playoffs this year, however im not sure how far they can get sad.gif id love for them to win it all but i think they not quite strong enough yet. so if they dont make a nice trade before the deadline i dont think LAL will make it outa the 2nd round.

kobe is the master and i think he has a great chance at MVP this year. smush freakin parker has been a pleasant surprise so far in this young season, although numbers are deceiving. i think odom can breakthru this year with phil's help, im hoping for the best! also, although i thought bynum was a huge gamble in the draft, i think he can develop by the time phils contract is about to end. maybe he can help em in a couple years. well thats all i can say really, LAL i love em with a passion!

This IS a nice topic. I cant really say wat teams Im going for yet because my team failed me last thursday or Wedn. cant remember, but it was the 76ers thats my favorite team. Bucks shot a 3ptr to tie it up, then they( Bucks) won by 10 I think, but all I member' is that my team lost. But I do have the greatest faith in them. They can do it . "The Answer" is one of my favorite players!

I really don't have a favorite team, but I do like a couple of them this season. The Pistons, The Pacers, The Spurs, this are my three choices for this season, I don't think the Heat are going anywhere (unless they win the championship and make me look stupid) because their team has too many stars, something very similar to the 2003 Lakers!!

About the Bulls, they will make the playoffs once again, you gotta be patient last season they didn't start well, and I don't know about what twey did with Eddy Curry, you have to hope Tim Thomas comes trough!

Tim Thomas will be lucky to play 5 minutes a game this season. He got a DNP- last night. Michael Sweetney has definitely been the better part of the deal so far. Not quite as much offense in the post as Curry, and he took an AWFUL shot with 2 minutes left last night, but he's the best post offense player we have.

I'm not worried about the Bulls chances of making the playoffs, but I'd like to see them coming through in the games they came through with last year.

Spurs this year. I've liked the Spurs since the Robinson era, but the current generation is nigh-unstoppable. They have a killer lineup and a resident superstar, with an impressively deep bench to boot. Intelligent management netted them Finley in the off-season, giving them yet another offensive angle. The Spurs really have everything going for them this year, and I'll be surprised if anyone manages to take them down in the playoffs, especially in this season's surprisingly weak Western Conference.

Per usual, my underdog team is the Rockets. Assuming they can keep McGrady healthy during the season and rearrange their offense a little bit - synergy was a big problem last year, despite impressive individual player numbers - I could see them making a decent playoff run, at least until they hit the aforementioned Spurs.

Though the East is impressive this year, I really can't attach myself to any of the teams. Sure, the Pacers are looking good, but they lack the sportsmanship and determination, relying instead on hot-headed, undeniable talent - a crutch that has failed them time and again. The Pistons are dangerous as ever, but still predictable and unexciting. And the Heat's GM has made some truly atrocious decisions, severely undermining the potential success of a supposedly dominant team - a shoot-first point guard and a lazy ballhog? The Heat needed a few key players to fill out their ranks, and Williams and Walker certainly don't match well.

Then again, I do like the Wizards better now that they've gotten rid of that deadweight Kwame Brown, a.k.a. the worst 1st round draft pick in the last 10 years. Though they lost some key agents, they still have a strong lineup, and I wouldn't doubt another second-round appearance this year if the seeding works in their favor.

The Pistons? unexciting? what in the world are you talking about?

Some of the best games in the past four years have been via Pistons, Rasheed's guaranties, Prince's game winning blocks, Beating those damn Lakers, last season super exciting east finals, c'mon what are you talking about!? Let's see, Billups half court shot in the 2003-04 Finals!

I'm sorry but I disagree greatly with you!

And about Kwame Brown, you shouldn't feel so bad about him, if we look at bad 1st round picks, just look at Portland back when Jordan was available, that year the first three drafts were...

HOUSTON- Akeem O'lajuwon (later HAKEEM O'lajuwon)
PORTLAND- Sam Bowie
CHICAGO- Michael Jordan

To me that has been the worst 1st round pick ever, Sam Bowie! , but of course you're talking about the last ten years!
