I'm going to submit a question since it's been two days since dcr's post, and six days has past since rbn's answer.
Where do you find the body armour, Maximillian? -------------------- "I'm racing time as fast as I can, sir!" |

You find it on a move-find square on the second-to-last floor of the deep dungeon. I forget the name of it, though.

Since I left my question a bit open there and didn't specify a name, Laszlow's answer is correct; You find it on HORROR, which is the second to last floor of the Deep Dungeon.

Sweet. Let's try a fairly easy math question: say you have a female Wizard with Draw Out as a secondary that deals 540 damage to a King Behemoth with Muramasa. How much damage would that same Wizard deal to that same Behemoth under the same conditions with Chirijiraden?

Yup. Chirijiraden is exactly 5/3 as powerful as Muramasa. You're up Goz.

there is a special pair of jobs whose damage formulae use a non-conventional -- in the scope of fft mechanics -- operation to calculate damage. what are the jobs, and what is the "bizarre" convention?

If I remember right, it's Truth and Un-Truth, which use the square of the caster's MA -- making them potentially the strongest attacks in the game, if they weren't so slow and random.

You are correct, sir. Thought about including Deep Dungeon, but they're really only semi-random since you can choose whether or not to do battle there.

uh, yeah, since you weren't even allowed to answer the last question in the first place, it wouldn't be anything near right for you to ask the next one.
i'll give one that came accross me when i was loaded the game to ascertain the answer to laszlow's question: name all the combinations (e.g., SWORD + SWORD, which, obviously, is not one of the anaswers) of "two-sword" that are impossible given the limitations of the fft playable character pool. |

Daggers, swords, ninja swords, flails/hammers, rods, staves, and katanas. I think that's all of 'em.

well, if you mean that all of those are mutually exclusive, then no. the only way to answer is to actually list the combinations, since certain weapon types cannot possibly be equipped with certain other weapon types, but there might be a third weapon type that can be equipped with only one of a pair of mutually exclusive types.

What weapon combos are impossible? Quite the doozy, actually, but I'll give it a shot. Notes: I'm not considering 2-handeds like the bow. I won't list some specific combos because it's already listed in one way or another elsewhere.
Katana-anything but another Katana(don't wanna list 'em all) Spear-anything but another Spear(ditto) Ninja Sword-anything but Mace, Knife, and another Ninja Sword Crossbow-anything Gun-anything Sword-Staff/Rod/Stick/Dictionary/Cloth/Bag/Musical Instrument Knife-Staff/Rod/Stick/Dictionary/Musical Instrument Axe-anything but Knife, Mace, Sword, and Ninja/Knight Sword Mace-Staff/Rod/Stick/Dictionary/Musical Instrument/Bag/Cloth How's that? I think Galsic's correct, except you can have Katana-Knight Sword, Katana-Sword, Katana-Ninja Sword, Ninja Sword-Sword, and Ninja Sword-Knight Sword thanks to Orlandu's natural equips. Also, Axes are two-handed weapons, IIRC, so you can't equip anything with an axe. Other than that the list seems pretty solid. -------------------- |

first of all, you're right, it was a poorly-formulated question. i should have asked you instead to name all of the weapon combinations that *are* possible with two-swords. but anyway, the answer is still incorrect. in particular, don't bother listing anything about spear, crossbow, gun, stick, dictionary, cloth, bag, harp, axe -- none of these can be equipped with any other weapon regardless of two swords. so the list thus far is like this (listing impossible combinations):
katana: dirk, rod, staff, flail ninja sword: rod, staff sword: staff, rod dirk: staff, rod flail: staff, rod there are still 3 impossible combinations missing. |

Quote (gozaru~ @ 13th November 2005 23:59) there are still 3 impossible combinations missing. Are ye sure about that? It seems that ye listed all the one-handed weapon types except the knight sword, so all I can think of is knight sword-staff,rod. Gee, what's with all the hate for the staff and rod in this game? Is it possible that the staff and rod don't like each other, either ![]() -------------------- |
