I am aware that today is not Wednesday.

First things first though, let me explain the meaning of this post. This started off a small little segment I did in my Livejournal every Wednesday. Basically, I ask the eternal question "Who would win in a fight?", and pit two unsuspecting contenders together and have people who read my LJ post their answers or have my friends who don't have an account IM me the answer. And whoever had the most votes won the battle. It's that easy. And ever since I started it, it's been getting immensely popular. A pair of my friends have taken to asking around their respective dormitories, and I was just suggested that I crosspost the battles to CoN to see what you all think as well. How I pick the combatants is pretty much random. They come from everywhere. Video games, cartoon series, movies, real life, you name it.

There are rules. Well, really just one and then some suggestions.

*I know everyone is going to want to post their own fights. But please, this is my brainchild. You are more than welcome to make suggestions to me on upcoming battles. But PM them to me, do not post your suggestions.

*The tally will end a week after the initial post. No vote will count afterward. Also, there are many inputs into the total tally. There's this post at CoN, the LJ users, the people who read my LJ and IM me their answers, as well as other areas. So the numbers will not be fully reflected.

*This is a weekly thing. One fight per week every Wednesday. I post the battle, then you all post who you think would win. But here are some suggestions.

- No one word posts please. Explain your reasoning for why you picked that person to win.

- Try to be non-biased. Picking someone to win because you like them more is acceptable, but not a very good reason.

But anyway, that's about it. I'll post the one I did yesterday:

In the RED corner, hailing from the peaceful land of Hyrule:

Link

The hero from the world famous Legend of Zelda series comes our first combatant. Don't let his boyish good looks fool you, Link is one bad dude. The general public has lost count of how many times he's saved the land of Hyrule. He's well experienced in swordsplay, archery, demolition, and magic. Not to mention that he totes around the legendary Master Sword. I'm telling you, this is one guy you don't want to meet in a dark alley.

And his opponent, in the BLUE corner. Straight from a galaxy far, far away:

Luke Skywalker

The Force is strong with this one. Son of the Chosen One, raised by his moisture farming uncle, and the last remaining Jedi. Luke has an impressive resume: Blew up the Death Star, saved Han and Leia's ass in Jaba the Hutt's lair and in the desert, and inconceivably was able to get Darth Vader to see to his good side. Luke is an expert with a lightsaber, but also can use the Force to great extent, as in telekenesis and mind-trickery (however, the latter may not work on his opponent). The one flaw to Luke is his lack of experience compared to his opponent. Luke's only been saving the galaxy for half a decade. Link's been saving Hyrule forever.

How this fight came to be: It's a qualm of religions, so to speak. Luke, valiant defender of the Force, explained that the Force is the true nature of the universe. Link strongly disagreed, and defended that the Triforce, forged by the three goddesses Din, Farore, and Nayru, trumped whatever "force" Luke had talked of. A heated exchange of words occured including the witty comeback by Luke, "Triforce, schmiforce". The two had to be restrained by Han Solo and Darunia the Goron respectively. A suggestion that they solve it civilly in a neutral ground battlefront was the only way to decide who's "force" was stronger was suggested.

Exceptions to the fight: Taking into the fact that the Master Sword cannot be destroyed, we can assume that it can matchup against a lightsaber.

So, boys and girls, who ya got? IM/Post your opinion. Results next week, as usual.

I'm in (if that's alright with the maintainers....I'm Stinger78).

Sounds like it'll be good.

As for Link/Luke Skywalker.....though I like Link more, I think the force gives Luke the edge in this bout

The force is strong with young Skywalker. Very powerful, he is. Though a big sword, Link has, Skywalker, he will not beat.

The chosen one, he is. Such a powerful Jedi, he will not beat.
