It's quite simple: whom do you like most in CT and why?
My choice is simple: MAGUS ![]() He's got the best magic, coolest weapon and looks FREAKIN' cool! (What would I give to look like that?) Besides I like his plot line mighty-mighty! ![]() MIGHTY MAGUS ROCKS!!! ![]() -------------------- "I fell off the mountain of words at around the 10,000ft mark. It's no secret that Magus is my choice. Â He's probably my favorite spellcaster from any RPG, and that's saying a lot. Â He's just cool.
In terms of battle prowess, he's the best attack spellcaster in the game. Â Some could argue that Crono's Luminaire is as good as Dark Matter, but Magus has versatility as well. Â In addition, he's exceptional among sorcerors in the way that he can both take and give good amounts of damage physically. Â His armor and accessories rock, too; the Amulet especially, since 100% status immunity is always fun. He's also awesome because, unlike most "secret" characters, he has a great storyline. Â Whether you get him or not, there's no denying that he has a forceful, well-defined personality, and plays a central role in the series. Â His hidden past and motives make for a fantastic plot twist, probably one of my favorites of any series. Might I also add that the first fight against him is one of the hardest in the game, what with the switching magical barriers and high-tier spells being thrown at you left and right. I had a hard time taking him down (a whopping 6666 HP didn't help). The battle music (Magus' Theme) is also one of my favorites ever. In the end, Magus takes the cake. Â He's got it all: brains, brawn, and limitless magical power. -------------------- "I always have a quotation for everything - it saves original thinking." ~Dorothy L. Robo quickly became my favorite once I discovered just how much ass his Crisis Arm weapon actually kicks. Though it says "Attack changes under 10 HP," it doesn't mean anything like it does more damage when you're critical. I don't know why they even named it such, but here's how it works.
It's based on the last digit of Robo's current HP, from 0-9. When it's at 0, it does the least damage. When it's at 9, it does the most damage. So when you've got a max of 999 HP, just keep Robo's HP up and you'll be doing incredible damage (I just did 1323 damage to a Debugger in the factory, non-critical). -------------------- Hey, put the cellphone down for a while In the night there is something wild Can you hear it breathing? Oops. Meant to vote for Frog, but clicked Other. Frog was so awesome. I just loved all the medieval and epic masamune stuff. And his music was so determined sounding.

I loved all these characters. They all had they're unique qualities and traits. But in the end, Magus stands alone. His magic is godly, his image is awesome, he had just an awesome story and development. #1 all the way around

Though Magus had the evil personality and the kick-a spells, and Robo was a veritable powerhouse. I voted for Ayla, she didnt need no stinkin weapon. She starts off powerful and ends up one of the most powerful. Plus she saved me a lot of time in that one part where you have to get your equipment. If you level her really high, her weapon actually changes from fist to iron fist and bronze fist.the bronze fist does 9999 on critical hits which is REALLY nice

I voted for Lucca, I means she's porbably the one of the few video game characters that might understand me!
![]() But enough of the shameless self promotion...She's got Flare, and a hella high magic power. With the Wondershot she can do tons of damage. Her only problem is her speed, but with a little pluck and luck (giving a lot of speed tabs to her!!!) She can rock, then give her the Gold Stud and let her loose. The only other problem is her lack of versitlity. ALL her mulit techs are fire or shadow... Another point of limited intrest...Shadow seems to be absorbed more then any other magic..speculation maybe, biased definitly. -------------------- Really Random Quote of the Day: "Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war." - Richard M. Magus, simply because he had great spells and still had a powerful attack. And because he used scythes!

Magus. He hits hard, uses some of the most powerful magic in the game, uses a badass weapon class, and just plain looks cool. But most of all, He floats when he runs!!!! What could be cooler than that?! NOTHING! THAT'S WHAT!

i think they meant that the attack depends on the number below the tens digit of your hp. or aybe the original plan was to actually make the weapon do more damage at critical. OR, it could have just been a translation error, which is pretty much unavoidable in a lot of games. HOW COME ONLY ONE PERSON PICKED FROG??? im shocked and ashamed at you people, frog was awesome. sure at first his magic is the worst in the game, but work that up a little and its great, and whats more he has the most intricate storyline of any character in the game. hes noble and he seems to be something of a ladies man- "ladies weeping over you left and right, need you not a swordsman?" i also liked his middle age-themed music, and when youre at low hp, frog squash (along with aylas dino tail, which is virtually the same attack) is the best in the game. frog rocks. -------------------- You watch the world exploding every single night Dancing in the sun, a newborn in the light Say goodbye to gravity and say goodbye to death Hello to eternity and live for every breath Your time will come... |

BGrugby why would you kill Magus! He is just a torchered soul and you killed him WHY!!!.......Whatever.
Anyway I picked Magus because when you get him he already has Fire 2, Ice 2, and Lightning 2, which if you are going through the first time is very nice. -------------------- "The time has come," the Walrus said, "To talk of many things: Of shoes--and ships--and sealing-wax-- Of cabbages--and kings-- And why the sea is boiling hot-- And whether pigs have wings." |

This poll only features favorite characters. If you choose other, it would be nice if you told us who the character is. I always liked this game a whole bunch. okay, here i go...
my favorite character is Crono, and not just because he is the flat-out, overall, BEST character in the game. he looks beyond cool, never lets anything get him down, is ressurected from the dead (LIKE JESUS!!!!) saves everyones ass at some point, has hair that is just completely--well--radical i guess would aptly describe it, and has a rocking weapon. now, let me explain WHY he is the best: 1. Has the most (potentially) powerful single spell in the game. If you disagree, i suggest you read the description of the spell. It is: the ultimate spell/attack 2. First to max out speed, i believe, making him extremely quick to attack and kill oppenents. 3. Has two choices for kickass finish weapon: the shiva edge or the rainbow. One increases his critical hit rate 70% and the other quadruples the damage done if he makes a critical hit. 4.Possess incredible physical prowess in battle. Unless Ayla is in your group he will nearly always be the most powerful. 5. Is the pivotal character to ALL triple techs not needing a stone a.k.a. waste of accessory slot. 6. Also pivotal to most of the "good" double techs, but better off using luminare. 7.Considering that he must be in your party at all times (until a certain point, *wink wink*) he will be on the highest level and most likely learn all his spells first okay, if i can remember more attributes to his greatness, ill be sure to post them. As for now, that is all that i have. -------------------- once you can accept yourself, you will never be alone |

Magus. Probably don't need to elaborate, all Magus-fans here already have for me. Spekkio once commented though that Magus could teach him a thing or two about magic...and considering Spekkio is the master of war and ultimate magic user, that's a big statement!

I love Lucca. She's amazingly smart, she's got a cool personality, she's powerful (I heard she has a higher base magic stat than Magus does at an equivalent level, but nevertheless, she gets ok-good weapons and a ton of great techs), and she looks good. For some reason I think she looks especially good because of the glasses, but she's beautiful anyways. (On the other hand I NEVER thought that Marle was beautiful.) Flame Toss deals elemental damage for just 1 MP (and can hit more than 1 target), Napalm deals a good more than *Fire in the battle against Magus, if you haven't learned *Fire 2 yet; it's also a lot cheaper, and hits stuff in an area. (Don't all her techs have the potential to hit more than one target? I haven't played the game in a while so I don't remember too clearly.) Unfortunately, Flare has, as I remember, a not-too-praiseworthy animation, though.
Let me add to this that I actually think Lucca would be my ideal girlfriend. I have no problem with her being nerdy--I tend to do that occasionally myself. The first sentence of this post is actually meant literally. (Read my signature before I change it. My real name's not Glenn, but there's a reason I call myself Glenn...) Second place goes to Frog/Glenn. A figure of honor and duty, with probably one of the best music tracks ever written for a videogame. Determination, skill, and responsibility. And a character anyone will sympathize with, for what he's gone through. And being the one who wields the Masamune...legendary sacred sword...unspeakably impressive. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. AYLA!!!! Ayla Ayla Ayla, Ayla all day long. Ayla Ayla Ayla, now I sing my Ayla song. ...Okay, that was stupid and I'll stop now. But I still love Ayla to pieces. When Crono bit the big one, Ayla became my party leader INSTANTLY. It was the only logical choice.
![]() Second place is Frog. He's so nifty. I like characters who have a variety of skills, and he's one of them. First, he's a really bad-ass warrior; second, he's a magic user; and third, he's a healer. I like not having to depend on just one character for healing all the time. His theme song is fantastic, and I adore his Bubble Snap technique (I'm pretty sure that's what it's called) where he drops Robo on the enemy's head. Man, I can't think of many things that would hurt more than having an 800-pound robot land on you. Plus I have to give points to the only character who can wield the Masamune. But, if we're talking just plain favorite character in the entire game, I will have to agree with the sentiment posed earlier and say GATO!!! Gato rocks all over the place. No question about it. And I love the little twist the game pulls on you by making you fight those Gato clones in the Black Omen who are really really nasty and confuse you with much higher accuracy than Gato himself does. At least they don't have that counter-attack. ![]() |
