well i have not posted in a couple of days and that's because i got dehydrated
early tuesday morning (2am) i was stricken with a violent case of the flu, that lead quickly to dry heaves(I couldn't hold down any amount of fluids), i continued to suffer from dry heaves 5 more times, until 10am, when someone finally came home, and could drive me to the E.R. upon arrival i was so dehydrated i couldnt remember my own social security number, or my docter's name, i barely manage to fill out enough information on the sheet (I'm glad i mentioned i have an allergy to latex), after waiting 20 minutes, a retired nurse from the hospital (who was there to meet her husband for lunch), spotted me flat on my back in the waiting room(my kidneys were having a hayday which caused me severe backpain), and noticed how blood shot, and sunken my eyes were, i had no spit in my mouth, she had me rushed in. When the nurse was putting in the I.V. one of my veins collapsed, thankfully the second vein didn't. 3.5 I.v.'s later i was close to normal, yet still stricken from the flu, and got a prescription for a suppository, and antibiotic. Then after getting my prescriptions I finally returned home, now after several days of rest I am glad the hard parts over, and that i am off the suppository since it was such a pain in the @$$ ![]() ![]() it feels good to have my sense of humor back -------------------- "Have you ever seen a baby do that before?" |

Wow man, it's good to hear you recovered. I had a similar episode happen to me 3 weeks into my first year of college last year. They thought I had spinal meningitis at first, had a 104 degree fever and my kidneys had just about given out. Had an ambulance come and take me from the dorms and everything and was in the hospital for a week. Definitely was an odd way to start life with the people on my floor. At least I didn't become the "ambulance guy" or anything.
Just make sure to always drink a lot of fluids. I always have loads of water in my fridge, and I have a Culligan thing at home. -------------------- The clouds ran away, opened up the sky And one by one I watched every constellation die And there I was frozen, standing in my backyard Face to face, eye to eye, staring at the last star I should've known, walked all the way home To find that she wasn't here, I'm still all alone -Atmosphere "Always Coming Back Home to You" |

well right off the bat i still felt like crap, but it's a good feeling to know that you're going to be alright, that you lived through to tell the tale
the coolest feeling (litterally) was the i.v.'s going into your system, it just gets really cold (of course they do keep i.v.s at different temperatures, but i had a fever) and the cold felt good Edit My family has a slight history for low threshold for dehydration, Grandfather-Mother-Me, my grandfather has reverse osmosis throughout his whole house, so technically you can drink water from anywhere, even the hose This post has been edited by Cloud_Strife510 on 27th October 2005 21:38 -------------------- "Have you ever seen a baby do that before?" |

Oh man, I had a bout with the flu a few months ago. A strain of the Spanish Flu, to be percise. Not a fun time.

Wow, that sounds terrible. I'm glad I have yet to experience something like this, and really don't want to in the future.
