Here's the deal. I want to dress up as everyone's favorate fat Itallian Plumber, Mario, for halloween. My biggest issue, his hat. A red shirt and overalls are easy, but that puffy, signiture hat has stumped me at every turn. I'm counting on you CoN-ers. Any ideas?

If all goes well, I'll try posting pictures on here later of the results.

I've seen them around in some stores, but not recently

most recent was in a godwill about 2 years ago
so hit the stores and check out thrift stores

worst comes to worst you could just go to a place that makes sports clothing (like for little league baseball) and ask them to make a red hat with the mario insignia

Can't say it's TOO original an idea, but hey, Mario's da man, right smile.gif ?

I wouldn't be too concerned about making the hat all puffy like Mario's. Any ol' red baseball cap ought to do. Depending on how much work ye wanna put into it, finding some scrap white and red fabrics to cut into the insignia and sew on the cap shouldn't be too hard, either. Or ye can take Cloud_Strife510's advice, but methinks that would be more costly.

Other details ye might want to consider, if ye haven't already, are some white gloves and brown boots. In most pics, his 'stache is black, but, judging by the sideburns, his hair is apparently brown, just in case that concerned ye as well.

Mario's cap? Well, when I went as Mario, I wrote "M" in red marker on a piece of white cloth, and I had it sewn onto a red baseball cap.

If you want something more accurate, go for a sided beret or a military officer's hat, and remember to color (or cover) the visor red.
