After viewing the lady-filled funfest that is, er, WAS Narratorway's last thread, I felt compelled to post a few of me own ladies, starting with this one:
This particular character is from a story I've been developing (Really, the story is jest inspiration for me continued drawing, I doubt it will get anywhere beyond that. Me characters don't even have names ![]() Edit Hmm, this turned out to be a crappy scan...I'll try to manage something better later...try. Edit Hee hee, done! that looks really cool! the sword does look a bit strange, but very fitting otherwise. It does look a bit too big for her to carry like that, but then so's Cloud's weapon.
Hold on, just looked again: the sword handle looks a bit too long. But never mind, she looks very much like a female Cloud! -------------------- "Fire and steel follow me through the lands you will burn hordes of hell in the deadly raging flames of revenge" Rhapsody - Flames of Revenge |

That looks excellent. Body form is very well done. Her right hand looks larger than her left, but I'm not sure if thats because she is wearing a gauntlet or not. Also the left knee looks a little strange. Maybe I'm just looking at it wrong, but I'm not sure which way its pointing.
Other than that, well done. Hair is nice, clothes are pretty cool, and the wood grain pattern on the sword handle is nice. Pretty inventive character. Good job. -------------------- -- You're Gonna Carry That Weight -- |

For those of ye who have already looked at me first image, I made a few minor edits and rescanned it. The scan looks much better now, yay!
alphasmart: Well, yes, it is a rather large sword...me intention is around 10 ft. in length (6 ft. blade and, perhaps, a 4 ft. handle). And if you're concerned about the weapon's weight, well...she's a demon ![]() Quote (Rujuken) Her right hand looks larger than her left, but I'm not sure if thats because she is wearing a gauntlet or not. Also the left knee looks a little strange. Maybe I'm just looking at it wrong, but I'm not sure which way its pointing. The reasons (as I see 'em) one hand looks bigger than the other is 1) it's holding something while the other is not and 2) the other hand is seen at an angle. But then maybe ye took that into consideration and still think it's too big? As for the knee, yep, it looked a bit wonky to me, too, so I shifted it downward a bit. It may still not be exactly right, but it does look better in me point of view. Well, I managed to salvage a few more of the drawings I've done over the past couple years for the story I half-ass developed. The two new ones have backstories, too, but I think I've typed quite enough for this post. These pics are nicely done, my ONLY critique is on Blood Lady, she seems too plain, almost naked. Try adding some more to her or adding more detail to her clothing or body.

Nice stuff.
First chick - Great structure and anatomy going with her. I can't help be reminded of a lion with her hair and expression. It really fits her image as a warrior. I like all the accessories that you put on her. The details are what really adds to a picture. Her overall attire is somewhat on the risque side, but hey, she's a bad girl, right? Sweet huge sword. It makes me wonder, is she Cloud-ette (minus the Freudian issues)? Demon Lady 2 - It's a bit odd to see the figure on the right a smiley. But I guess she can't be all "I WILL KEEL YOU!!111" all the time. The figure on the left is really the more dynamic of the two. Her pose and expression are excellent. She really does look like she will kill you ![]() Archer - Cat girl or elf? I'm guessing that these sketches are some of your early ones because they lack some of the movement and dynamics of the others. She's cute enough. Blood Lady - 0_o Whoa. Interesting subject matter.... Left figure: The lower half of her body is well rendered but her knee could use some defining and bone structure (patella maybe?). Right now, she has a kind of rubber leg look going on. Her upper half is also well done but her breasts look unnaturally situated on her body. They look almost like they're not really connected (even though we can't see most of them). Right figure: Overall structure of her is well rendered. One thing that's troubling me is her lack of hips. Her legs are nice and shapely, but missing that feminine pelvis area. Bum's Rush: When you're leaving these comments, that's your critique. What you may find 'wrong' with a piece is not a critique. This might be a problem/gripe/whatever, but not a critique. Unfortunately, too many people, the word "criticize" has a negative, and therefore off-putting connotation. Art educators, however, employ "criticism" and "critique" as means to convey the feedback art students need: a concentrated effort to give constructive analysis and advice. All participants should affirm that a critique is most helpful when it is simultaneously profoundly insightful and motivating — entirely truthful, and free from ridicule. Demon Lady: Nope, folks, me Demon Lady ain't no "Cloud-ette." In fact, the only thing they have in common is their large swords and even there, Demon Lady's sword is ever so much larger. Cloud was a head case who eventually got his act together while Demon Lady is about as nasty as her kind gets. She knows it and she loves it.
Bow Lady: For the record, Kame, I did this one around the same time as the other two I posted with her (did all three within a two month period, I believe). I jest wasn't feeling particularly ambitious when I drew her up; I jest wanted to get the concept down and worry about expanding on her or whatever later on, much as I did with Demon Lady. Blood Lady: The rubber legs and the lack of hips have been noted, but I doubt I'll make changes any time soon ![]() I could have have responded here a lot sooner, but I wanted to make at least one more pic update for this thread before I did, so I came up with these, ahhhh...glamour shots! Yes, these lovely ladies are posing jest for YOU! Bow Lady 2: Since drawing up the first Bow Lady, I have decided that she will be neither a cat girl or elf, but, rather, an offshoot of human. This means quite a few concept changes, but the only physical change I've made is on the ears. The big eyes are still intact, though. The bow and the leg gear on Bow Lady 2 are pretty spiffy.
The Merc Lady looks pretty unique. She is kinda buff and those pants are pretty cool too. You've got some nice design skills. -------------------- -- You're Gonna Carry That Weight -- |

Wow, two weeks and someone finally responded, heh. With MY uber-skills (
![]() Anyhoo, I guess Merc Lady was simply to prove, if only to meself, that I could do more than your usual cute, skinny ladies. I suppose I succeeded more or less. There are more characters to me little story, but most of them are either male or non-humanoid, so I'll save them for another possible thread. Thanks for the responses, everyone. -------------------- |
