Do you or any one you know have annoying video game habits? For example, I remember practically every video game song, especially RPG song (with the repeat of battle music) that I ever hear. Then I hum, wistle, lala, or sing it at will

I have a habit of getting all items, events, and talking to everyone. (I think it's amazing how many things can be cleared up by not ignoring NPCs)

I tend to yell at the game alot, especially when it's something outrageous, like in Mario Baseball when I steal a base and get there before the ball does and they call me out...I mean I already finished my slide and was standing up before the ball got there, and they called me out. Stupid Lakitu referee...can't see a darn thing from way up there.
I also tend to not blink when I play. Not annoying for anybody else but me, really. When I finally do blink my eyes hurt like thunder and I hafta stop and rub them/try to get them moist again. Stopping play = no good, especially in like SSBM. -------------------- Is PJ |

In fact, sometimes, if I think it's a really good tune, I'll just sit and listen to it for quite some time, even for hours (perhaps another habit?). Of course that in itself is not annoying. In fact, I find it rather enjoyable. But, tell me, Glenn, do ye whistle the tunes, too? Ye sure it doesn't annoy others? I whistle game music (among other tunes) all the time and it's usually not well recieved ![]() -------------------- |

I'm perfect, so I don't have any bad habits.
... I can't turn things off. I'll just play for hours and hours, not really into it any longer, but unable to overcome the inertia required to stop playing. The most annoying habit I can think of is my husband's. He'll play for a long time, accomplishing a lot (leveling, finding hidden packages, etc.) and refuse to save. Sometimes, he accidentally gets killed, and then it's all for nothing. So he does it all over again. It's infuriating to watch. -------------------- Veni, vidi, dormivi. |

Kimahri, I have the same problem! It's the worst!
It even got so bad that my brother bought me a GCN controller with a fan installed in it for my birthday. SSBM is so much easier now that it doesn't slip out of my hands or slip onto a different button. Even worse than the palm sweat is the cold drip of sweat that goes down your side if your arms are wide enough to the sides. I have that problem, too, and I hafta pat it down real quick. ![]() -------------------- Is PJ |

The only habit I can think of off the top of my head is the aforementioned 'progressing hours into the game without saving.' I had recently gone around three hours in Tales of Phantasia, for example, then got myself killed in a simple random battle 'cause I couldn't bother to heal anyone until afterward. I suppose that's another annoying habit of mine - going to all lengths not to heal during battles, but only between them.
One gaming habit my sister had when we were kids that always annoyed me was her placing the blame on me for ever time her player died, she got a low score, etc. Somehow, I alone was enough to convince the powers that be that she must not finish any game as long as I was in the same room... -------------------- Words of Wisdom: If something can go wrong, it will. annoying habits eh?
I have to rock as I play, or else I can't focus, ha ha and bite my finger nails!!! (just like my big bro used to do!) My sister has this annoying habit of saving over my game no matter how many open slots there were she'd always manage to do that!!! And lastly, my bro's friend would not only PUSH the button, he'd yank around the whole darn controller!!!! So there'd be flailing controlllers EVERY WHERE!!!!wow, kinda irritating! oh well, he was a fun guy! -------------------- ...That's General Leo.. I tend to save multiple times, out of anxiety. Like I might save in a dungeon, then i'll save four more times for good measure, losing save games has made me paranoid.

I'm usually good about my gaming quirks, but I the pitfalls of progressing without curing are no stranger to me. When curing is a necessity after each battle (for instance), I just get too lazy with bringing up all the menus and instead just procrastinate, but then the enemy lineup changes and I get screwed over. This is especially relevant in games that let the enemies ambush you, which gets even worse as you go down the line. Wild ARMs 3 ambushes have one character alone against all the enemies...who go first. Allies don't come 'til the third turn and by then it can often be a trial to keep yourself alive on a non-inventory basis.
Other habits I have include but aren't limited to: playing my console in time limits against what is recommended by the manufacturer (15-minute breaks? Pah!); continuous playing with sweaty palms, which seems to be an epidemic among us too-hardcore-to-let-go gamers ![]() ![]() That's about it, I guess. I don't hum the music out loud, but I whistle it or keep it rattling around in my head. An mp3 player would suit those weird embedded tendencies more, though, I think. -------------------- It's gonna be a glorious day I feel my luck can change |

About the music, I must say that although I love this talent, my friends don't take it to well. If I sing an FF song, they get a little annoyed

I know one of the most annoying (though often amusing) habits I've seen is someone who jumps around without noticing it while playing a game. The only game my Mom ever played was Super Mario World... and when Mario jumped, she did too. It seems to be common in inexperienced gamers
![]() Personaly, I know I have a few annoying habits. First of all, when I get REALLY mad at a game (which can happen fairly easy) I STAY mad. I remember nearly tearing my sister's head off after I had tried unsuccessfully to beat Gannon on Windwaker. Not pretty. Also, I'm a video game chicken. The shadow temple on LOZ OOT scares me to death. Just about anything can get me freaked out. Finaly, I have a tendancy to amass quotes from obscure games and say then at random times. It is fun to watch other people's reactions while I start spouting diolouge from Chrono Trigger or something. ![]() -------------------- TURKEY! - (The only way not to get blocked for using Fowl Language) |

That happens to me a lot as well. Sometimes when I'm playing Counterstrike, I'll get done and it looks like my eyes are bleeding they are so dry and red. It happens with most games, but it's definitely the worst when it comes to online first-person shooters. -------------------- "My impersonation of an ordinary person was flawless." - Neal "Don't cry because it's over. Ive posted some of my bad habits in other areas of the forums, such as the cursing and the mouth hanging open...
I also have that blinking problem when I'm playing for long periods of times, and here's another one that a few of you will call me "freak" for a long, long time... Hold it in during a boss fight, when the boss dies, run to the bathroom. I only do this in extreme situations, and strangely enough it works every time. Maybe I should see a psychiatrist... -------------------- Neneko is Neneko because Neneko couldn't be Neneko if Neneko wasn't Neneko! --as quoted from Neneko, Mahoraba {Heartful Days} I can stab a man with a thick paperback book thru the ribcage. |
