there is also another very very useful trick too shifty.gif

get the niphaloa (forget the spelling ) and all the remedy lores
then buy 99 remedies from the merchant in the highwaste

then use remedies on the tough marks and enemies for a 100% hit all status attack (except immuneities the enemy has)

Before you decide to up and fight Yaizmat, you had better be ready or he will put you through the runs and make you wonder why you bought this game in the first place... I have fought him a couple of times now and I have noticed a couple of things...

First time I fought I just beat the snot out of him with a couple of melee guys and a rezzer and I beat him into a pulp within 2 hrs. Got him to his last life bar halfway gone and I left the area, not the screen, and he start healing insanely fast, like a bar a second until he had 8 or 9 bars... No fun there.

Second time I fought him I took my time to study this amazing beast and try to develop a strategy that could be used by people other than me, and I am still working on that. I have noticed that every time you leave the screen and use the save crystal there is a counter near the mini map that says stage X. with X being the number of times you have left to save... I do believe that as this number grows so does Yaizmats power and speed and basicall everything. I experimented and got the stage up to 6, when I walked in thinking I would just hit and run, instead of using cyclone or something he just walks up and casually nails my main melee with a normal physical attack that did a whopping 7800 damage (after being dispelled!). At this high of a stage I found him to be nearly unbeatable.

I guess I am just trying to say Go Prepared, lots of phoenix downs, maybe the fomahalt with darkshot and the masumane with some genji gloves to get the worst out of the way early.

Good Luck, and if anybody can confirm my theory on the stages please do I would love to know that it wasn't just me being a wimp...

well i just beat the game and I gotta say it takes up my no.2 spot for favorite game ever. The game was soo sweet. So was the ending. If you don't have this game yet, I reccommend getting it. If you are stuck, battle through - it's worth it.

Glad to help wink.gif

I use this trick to level up at the Nabreus Deadlands;
when I am supposed to be in Jahara near the start of the game LOL

the Zodiac spear plus the fact the enemies are petrified, disabled, imobilised, virused, doomed, poisoned and silenced makes them a pushover smile.gif

EDIT: re; sk8daysaweek. Yes it is true that yiazmat gets tougher every time you save pinch.gif

i wouldve posted that earlier...but i thought everyone knew. that and i was lazy tongue.gif

so im Level 72 for Vaan, Balthier, and Ashe
Level 11 for Basch, 14 for Fran and Penelo (try and guess who i use)

and im loving the level loop. Takes a LONG time...40 levels in under a day, but its worth it

i have to go to Draklor. Lets see Cid kill me NOW!!!

Did you remember to set your battle speed to maximum, and do you have a gambit set to Haste Negalmuur? It can make a huge difference. smile.gif

Okay, that gets my vote for one of the best videogame tips since getting 30 lives in Contra. Hopefully this will help me ruin the day of those marks in the Pharos...that I can't find.

After a few days of spinning my wheels, I've defeated Hell Wyrm. All characters at level 49, and the fight took an hour and 45 minutes. Aside from swapping Vaan's Deathbringer for a Golden Axe, not much change in my setup. To anyone that goes looking for this thing, bring 99 Phoenix Downs, 99 Hi-Potions and 3 Bubble Belts. The fight isn't too bad. Hell Wyrm casts Invert a lot when he gets "low" on HP (only a few million left) which really helps to get your MP back.

I also "scored" a Diamond Armlet. After opening no less than 30 treasures, I'd say that 27 of them were Knots of Rust, the other 3 were money. I'm looking into my legal options now. mad.gif

oh ho ho! that i did. it still takes long. i even equipped the embroidered tippets (spelling?) but getting to a very high level on about 700 exp each ghast when you need 200000+ exp to get to the next level....each level takes about an hour dry.gif

dude, just go to the Great Crystal and head north. In two hours I leveled up Vaan from 61 to 66. A couple of monsters that give 4000+ exp.

Okay, so I decided to re enter the Great Crystal to find the Excalibur, and now I'm lost. In the process, I accidentaly came upon the esper Ultima (I won BTW) and then decided to exit. After hours of running around and not remembering where leads where, I gave up and used the save crystal located in the top of the Great Crystal (karaputhis pis-something like that). Anyway, right now I'm standing next to the only save crystal in the GC.

I ask anyone who can answer, HOW IN THE WORLD CAN I GET OUTTA HERE? and if you know too, where exactly is the treasure crystal where Excalibur can be found?, oh, and the Zodiac Escutheon too.

Well, help is much welcomed!

Moderator Edit
I merged this with the existing FF12 thread, since that would make four threads about the game, and it seems to fit in with the theme of this thread. So this is not a double post. smile.gif

My guide doesn't have any maps of the Great Crystal... mad.gif

But it does tell how you can navigate its chambers. The name of each chamber seems meaningless at first, but they're actually some kind of code that tells where you are in the crystal.

First, there's the layer, or how high you are in the crystal. These are coded using the names of prehistoric periods, with the oldest being on top:

Peak = Peak, of course
Kanbhru = Cambrian
Vikaari = Ordovician
Sihru = Silurian
Dhebon = Devonian
Kabonii = Carboniferous
Bhrum = Permian
Trahk = Triassic
Jula = Jurassic
Core = Crystal core
(EDIT: Forgot one. Prama = Ground, where the teleporter returns to the Gate of Fire)

Next, the second part of the name tells the distance (in any direction) from the core, in other words, how deep inside you are. They are coded using the parts of a plant stem:

Pis = Pith, deep interior
Jilaam = Xylem, intermediate
Phullam = Phloem, outer

Then, the third part indicates direction north, south, east, or west from the core:

Udii = north
Avaa = south
Praa = east
Pratii = west

Some chambers, however, have extra meanings in their names. These are usually chambers that contain Way Stones or gate switches.

Way Stone chambers have the words A or Dha, then Vikaari in their names. "A Vikaari" means "shift up", which means using the stone will shift you up one layer in the crystal. "Dha Vikaari" means "shift down".
Finally, chambers with "Sthaana" in their names indicate the presence of a gate switch.

Whew... long post. But I hope it helps. happy.gif

does anyone know if the necrohol secret merchant sells anything good?

I was lucky enough to get the zodiak spear this early in the game; is it worth returning to find the merchant guy?

He's good, man. I went to see him and bought 3 Maximillians, 3 Demon Shields and 2 Rings of Renewal. I also bought Scathe, and I think Telekinesis. He also sells Ethers. It's worth going and checking him out, definitely.

Just wait until you get all of that stuff that you need. After that you probably won't have anything good to spend $$$ on. Last time I played, I have over 3 Million gil... I don't have anything to spend it on!

you are talking about the nihopalaoa right??? It reverses the effects of restorative items like potions and such... Very good with remedies, use it on a foe and watch it get hit with nearly every status effect except it's immunities. You can get it from the Muthru bazaar in rabanastre, clan rank knight of round or something, I don't reallyremember.

Yes! For those who get lost in the Great Crystal and don't want to memorize the meaning of all the weird names, there's a very helpful MAP up in gamefaqs.com. It tells where all the treasures are, where OM12 is located, gate switches, and waystone connections. Thank God!

EDIT: Okay I'm pissed off. In order for the Excalibur to pop up in the treasure in the Great Crystal, does having the Diamond Armlet equiped prevent this from happening, because all I'm getting is a lousy and crappy Knot of Rust. Does the Excalibur show up with out the Diamond Armelt?

EDIT: 2 gils.

Hehe, do this treasure crystals reappear, because it's really boring to quit to tittle and run back to the darn treasure again and again and again.

I know it rarely appears, but I wanna know exactly where I'm suposed to be heading.

actually, yes.

remember, you need to have the diamond armlet on. and it respawns blink.gif

anywayfrom the entrance, go left down the stairs, the first right, then left, then the next right turn, and it will be the first leftthe chest is in there.

i doubt that helps, but if it does, rock on! thumbup.gif

What entrance are you talking about.?

Is it from Crossover C or Ore Separation?

EDIT: The bats in here are numerous, they give 3011 exp to each character, nice!

The entrance stairs in Phase 2 Dig is from Crossover C, right next to Special Charter Dig (Zodiark's Battlezone). My guess is this is where you're guiding me from, am I right?

I looked it up already, I know where the treasure spawns now. It is in a small hidden area to the right if one comes from Ore Separation. It is right after the concrete walled area if one comes from Ore Separation.
