Bubble doubles the affected character's maximum HP, and Reverse reverses the effects of recovery and damage (or so I've heard).
Larsa is male, although, I thought he was a short woman at first. ![]() -------------------- |

I'm getting annoyed with the enemies levels going up much faster than mine, does anyone have any suggestions on how to level up faster? Because this is really getting on my nerves running around for two hours leveling so I can move on to the next area. I don't think my builds are bad, because I can usually beat anything three to four levels higher than me without any trouble.
and if anyone has made a master file yet, how long did it take you to do all the hunts and get all the best weapons? I think with the golden amulets equipped, I'll finish the liscense board by the end of the game anyways especially with all the training I end up doing. thanks for the info on the monographs too. Quote (blizzera god @ 11th January 2007 15:40) I have heard alot of people like the spell reverse and bubble. What do they do? Bubble doubles your max and current HP temporarily; when the effect wears off, your max HP will return to normal and your current HP halved no matter what it actually is. The Bubble Belt doesn't effect current HP unless you dequip it when over your normal max HP, and then it only lessens to equal max HP. The belt is excellent for a Balance attack in the middle of the game, BTW. On a side note, character current and max HP doesn't stop at 9999, so if Bubble goes over, the numbers in the bottom right will lie if you're over 9999. The meter, however, doesn't, and putting the cursor on a character will show you its real HP rating. Reverse switches the effects of many attacks and healing items/spells thrown at an inflicted target. It's meant to kill you via your own healing gambits, but the status is rarely used by monsters or useful as a weapon due to its incredibly short duration. It's short because, as you can easily figure out, it's highly useful as a shield against many normal attacks and Magicks. However, there are plenty of things it cannot defend against: Possible spoilers: highlight to view - Technicks, enemy or ally (save for Shades of Black) - Syphon (Drain is affected, but the caster won't be damaged like it would be versus an undead) - Knot of Rust and Dark Matter (along with Shemhazai) - Anything exclusively dealing with status (Reverse and Stona/Gold Needle won't Petrify a target, for example) - Exdeath/Exodus' attacks - Zodiark's Final Eclipse Note that Espers mentioned are for when you summon them, not when you fight them. I may have forgotten something too.... On an aside, there's only one way to lengthen Reverse since it can't be recharged: Stop. Stop halts all other status timers so that they last forever so long as Stop is in play. It can be recharged (just cast Stop again whenever before it runs out), so your damage magnet never has to risk becoming vulnerable. You can just recast Reverse, but the high MP cost combined with its short duration will quickly prove that strategy incredibly tedious and draining at best. Even with Spellbound, the duration only improves to about 14 seconds IIRC, so you need to know an attack's coming if you're going to use it on an attacking character. In short, it's rarely worth it. -------------------- |

Larsa is a guy. It's mentionned a few times in the game.
I don't have a "complete" save file yet, but I'm almost there. It took me roughly 150 hours but this is my first play-through. I suppose knowing where to go, that'd be about how long you need to get a perfect game. You shouldn't have trouble fighting stuff that's higher-levelled than you unless you're early on in the game. Chances are your gambits aren't very good, or that you don't take advantage of statuses. Haste, protect, and all that stuff make a huge difference. And getting some negative status ailments off can help a lot. Even against regular enemies (especially against regular enemies - the rest you can beat with quickenings if you can chain them high enough.) Complete a few hunts if you need exp (tracking down the mark usually means fighting quite a few things) and never run away from enemies even if they're not worth anything good anymore - they give JP, items you can sell to buy better equipment, and usually take so little effort to beat you can rely on your party members. -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

I haven't run from enemies at all, I actually force myself to fight them. I have the guidebook, so I've planned out my way on the sphere grid pretty well I think. I don't use status gambits for two reasons: I haven't spent any money on gambits, so my options aren't that great; and because they miss way too frequently. If there are ways to improve your chances let me know please.

It can be posible. If you stay in one area fighting weak monsters, your characters will not level a lot, but the LP's will continue growing the same. It only takes around 13500 LP 's to complete the board. So let's say he fought monsters from the eastersand, for example the wolves, he would've only recieved like 6 EXP from each one he defeated, and 1 LP. It would take like 6900 of them, and that's a lot.

thats exactly what i did; then i moved on to the lhusu mines, there is a bridge with like 30 monsters on it that respawn that helped me get another 2-3 thousand lp
but the real fun comes in the leviathan; after you get Ashe there is alarms on and enemys come to you for easy kills just running around the whole ship a lot of times ![]() |

I just got finished with the game today!! The ending is AWESOME!! It would be cruel to spoil anything for you all so I'll keep my mouth shut. Except...
Possible spoilers: highlight to view -There are 13 espers in total, and to get the last esper, Zodiark, you must command at least 10 others. -There are 4 treasure chests in the game that are linked to a chest in the Necrohol of Nabudis that contains the game's strongest weapon, the Zodiac Spear. If you open any of the four chests, the Zodiac Spear will disappear from Nabudis forever! The four chests are: --In front of Old Dalan's Place in Lowtown --In the southeast corner of the Palace Cellars in Rabanastre --In the Confiscatory in Nalbina Dungeons --One of the 16 treasure chests in a cluster near the end of the Vaddu Strand on Phon Coast (don't open ANY of them!) -The final elite mark, Yiazmat, has well over 50 million HP. I'm not making this up! -After you exit the Pharos at Ridorana, make sure your characters' levels are ALL above level 50 before you board Bahamut! You will see why! So, yeah. -------------------- Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it. The same holds true for the rest of your classes. |

So, I was reading the guide and looking at the weapons section, and I read under the Zodiac Spear that it can be found under special conditions in the Necrohol of Nabudis, which I already ruined since I started the game, and it can also be found in the Henne Mines through the Feywood entrance. What are the chances of getting the Zodiac Spear here, do I still have a chance, or is this treasure chest a pain in the behind to come across? My guess is yes, and that I may need a Diamond Armlet.
Anyone lucky enough to actualy find the Zodiac Spear in the Henne Mines? This post has been edited by SaffireWeapon on 16th January 2007 20:05 -------------------- PS3 tag: TipoDLuffy "...quite possibly the greatest game ever made" |

Quote (KingDelita @ 12th January 2007 04:52) I'm getting annoyed with the enemies levels going up much faster than mine, does anyone have any suggestions on how to level up faster? Me! Me! I have a suggestion! By abusing the Gambit system in battle against a specific enemy, you can set up an effectively infinite loop that requires no input from you. This trick can be done as soon as you have access to the Stillshrine of Miriam, but the higher your level when you attempt it, the better. Deep in the Stillshrine, in the Ward of the Sword-King, a great undead beast spawns. This creature, known as Negalmuur, has the ability to raise other undead Ghasts to fight for him. If one was to set up their gambits to kill just the ghouls and keep the party alive... It's not a difficult trick to set up, if you follow the guide located here. The most time-consuming aspect of it is getting Negalmuur to spawn, but once you've done that, and have made sure that your party can raise your party leader before the "Select New Party Leader" screen appears, you can literally turn off the TV and let your party level while you sleep. My other recommendation for levelling faster would be to equp an Embroidered Tippet and fight alone with the character you want to boost. Embroidered Tippets double the experience earned, and you gain more experience with fewer party members, so sending only one character equipped with an Embroidered Tippet into battle will garner him or her roughly six times the amount of experience he or she would gain in a full party without the accessory. |

It is possible. There's only a 1% chance though, per visit.
10% chance of the chest being there. 10% chance of it containing the weapon in question. I posted about this a while back but wasn't sure if it could be done. Turns out it's true. But hoo... does it take a while. :x -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

Thunder is most effective against ice, so that's definitely a good idea. Also, if you have any Ice Shields, it would help to use those, too. Try to keep Shell on your party and make gambits that heal your characters (preferably using Cura, so everyone gets healed). Keep your characters moving, too; MP recharges as you walk around.

Go chain the Seekers in Henne Mines, there's a chance they might drop Blood Swords. The Sap status effect works wonders.

Anyone heard about reverse chains? I read about that in a guide at my cousin's. Apparently there's an internal chain counter that goes up when you kill different enemy types conscecutively. Ie, the more you kill without chaining, the higher.
What's up with that? ![]() -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

This is what the guide says about "reverse chains".
When you END a battle chain, a hidden chain begins. "Reverse battle chains" exists, linked by continually defeating different types of monsters. It slightly increases the chance of items being dropped, but has few real advantages compared to a regular battle chain. There is also an "allies chain". Sometimes you might have an ally to aid you fight a mark, or sometimes they just appear fighting all alone in certain areas. Defeat them, leave the area and come back, that ally will reappear. As long as it is from the same race, the chain will develope. thanks for the info suunok, with the embroidered tippet though, only one character would level at a time yes? Anyhow, I just cleared Archades last night, and have started on doing hunts, I've done like 16 or 17 so far, and I also went and acquired Adrammalech. (I'm level 36) Right now I plan on training up to level 40 through side quests and just plain training, and then moving on. I have cleared all augments and magicks for every character and am now working on technicks, and then accessories after that. (it doesn't seem necessary to master the bottom for everyone. I'll get what i need and leave what i dont)

The only reason only one character would level at a time with the Embroidered Tippet is if you had only one active character in your party. Every character in the party gains experience as normal, with the one with the Tippet gaining double.
