I hope you all can sort of guess where Adma might have come from...

But I used it kind of as a joke in Dark Ages of Camelot one day, and my roommate at the tiem just started calling me Adma.

I now use it for everything, and if you don't look into it too hard, it can sound fantasy'ish

My friend and are were having a stupid conversation on AIM. He was saying like "welcome to zero graviti shop, the store that sells things men enjoy." The viagra 2.0, the bastard 8.7,...it was 3 in the morning in summer on a Saturday a year ago, and we were feeling really silly. Anyway, I made a screen name dublgravitishop to mimic that. Then came triplgravitishop, and you guessed it, Quadgravshop. I kept qgs for a year or so and finally changed it recently. When I first joined CoN I was still using that sn, I shortened it, and Quad shall live on forever in the archives of Josh's brain.

Well, Delita is my favorite character from FFT. Also, he should have been an Arc Knight. There you go. Oh, and the misspelling is intentional, it is that way because in the first place where I tried to use this name, ArcKnightDelita was already taken. So I cheated the system and it stuck with me.

I wanted to have a FF-themed name, being a FF forum and all. As I was playing FF6 at the time and I quite liked Celes, I named myself after her 'class': the Rune Knight.

Some other names I use online:

Suicune Girl: My first handle that I coined. I was 13 and obsessed with Pocket Monsters (I'm not so much now) at the time. Took the name of one of my favourite creatures and stuck my gender at the end of it.

Star Lancer: Seiken Densetsu 3 was the inspiration for this, named after one of Lise's classes.

Zable Fahr: Also from Seiken Densetsu 3, this is the three headed God-Beast of Darkness (I had the female-looking head in mind).

Harpy Queen: Another SD3 themed name rolleyes.gif , from the harpy-like boss Tzenker.

Crysta Blade: And now for something completely different. Crysta comes from Terranigma as the name of both a village and a spear. As for the Blade part, hmm...not quite sure...I think it was just a variation on the aforementioned spear. Also it's original, feminine-sounding and somewhat cool. tongue.gif

Someone asked me in a PM where my name came from. I really thought I'd said it somewhere in this thread that spans four years now, but I haven't, so why not practice a little necromancy just for fun?

Note, I don't actually use this screen name for much of anything any more. I started using it in 1994, but starting in around 2001 or so I started truncating it to the more simple "R51" for just about anything that allows such a short username. Why type extra letters?

Back in the early 90's, hockey was starting to boom in the States, and being too young to have a job, and stuck out in the middle of nowhere, I watched a lot of games on satellite. My favorite team were the New York Rangers, and it just so happened they won the Cup in 1994. So, when I was making an AOL screenname, I took Rangers and my jersey number from my high school soccer team, 51. And by the time I cared enough to want to change it, too many people knew me by this nick to make it worthwhile.

It has nothing to do with any sort of role-playing, and while I've heard idiotic jokes for nearly a decade and a half, it certainly has no connection to Power Rangers.

Not an interesting story, but since asked, there you have it.

I have no friggin' idea where my username came from. As I registered, it just came naturally...sorta. Wow, what a load of bull, huh?

Bob, though, is another form of my name, Robert, and I think Samurai might've come from...well, anything.

FFIVDS looks awesome, right? Especially the character scans. I mean, look at that CGI scan of Yang. You see it and you just think...badass. And then you look at his polka-dot pants, likely stolen from a Dr. Seuss book. And then you just...shiver.

It was 12 o'clock at night, and I was half asleep and couldn't think of a name. Finally, my sister said, "How about King Eddy?" and I said, "sure". I wanted a Final Fantasy-ish name and Edgar is my favourite char from FFVI, so, why not? The one thing, though, is that I didn't realize everyone would think I am a guy, which is kind of silly. I should've put Queen Eddy, then everyone would think I married Edgar.

Quote (Dragon King @ 29th July 2007 19:48)
And this guy is obviously inspired by Bahamut. happy.gif

leilong is quite literal from chinese:

lei (pronounced "lay") - Thunder
long (pronounced "loung," not long as in length)- Dragon

I took 4 years of chinese in high school, and instead of waiting for the instructor to give me a name that merely sounded similar to my american name, i came up with my own. Leilong just made sense to me, i was a hyperactive kid that managed to destroy everything i came across. tongue.gif

When I was 16, i got a tatoo of a dragon on my arm with the chinese symbols for leilong written underneath.

Now that I've explained my name, I have to explain how that relates to me quoting Dragon King:

The chinese word for king is wang (pronounced "wong")

Dragon King, to those who know pinyin (english spellings of chinese words), has a dirty double meaning when written (Everything you need to understand it is in this post). Just seeing dragon king is enough to make me immaturely giggle most of the time, so I never got to the point of making a bahamut association.

This whole time I thought you were just pulling one over on the mods, and instead, I just proved to myself that I continue to overthink EVERYTHING!

I had just finished playing dirge of cerberus at the time, and since zantetsuken and masamune were both taken (auron is my favorite character, odin is my second favorite summon), i decided to use vincent's ultimate weapon as my name. no relation to the state "penalty of death" death penalty, despite the connection made in an earlier thread of that topic.

For a year and a half now, I have had the nick "goldenquagsire" on nearly every site I join, or a variant of it. Anyone who's ever played the unholy awesomness that is Pokemon Gold will know what a Quagsire is, and the "golden" bit was, in part, homage to Pokemon Gold, and also partly because just "Quagsire" was too boring.

However, when I joined this forum, I was in a mood where I felt I should be more imaginative with my screenames. I was playing FFX a lot at the time, and I liked the enemies known as "Sinscales", which are
Possible spoilers: highlight to view
bits of Sin's body that fall off him when he attacks places.
"Sinscaleslayer" just sounds stupid... shorten it to "Sinslayer", which actually makes sense as well. 'cause, y'know, Sin is the big bad evil dude of FFX. Bam, instant nickname. Just add water.

I have come to rather dislike this nick, and if I ever get the chance, I would change it to good old-fashioned "goldenquagsire".

So I looked back at my old post in this thread.

Well, I'm no longer working on that RPG project; I later decided that I didn't actually have a plot in mind, so I wasn't getting anywhere.

Also, I've shortened by spiel about where my username (which I use here and on various other sites) is from: I'll put it here so you don't have to flip back through the thread.

"Glenn" and "Magus" are from Chrono Trigger. "Harvey" refers to Cecil Harvey from Final Fantasy IV. I put them together because Glenn is a reasonably realistic first name, and Harvey is a reasonably realistic last name. "Magus" got in on Rule of Cool, and because I wanted to reference Magus.

I've since met a lot more characters I like, but I've stuck with Glenn Magus Harvey (sometimes abbreviated GMH) because it's handy and easily memorable.

In this case, I think Blitzsage is actually right - most of the people who ever posted in this thread are no longer here. People who are still around can feel free to either point to posts in this thread or post in the new one, but we'll start fresh over there.
