Do you approve or disown in-game glitches that may improve your status?
Like: FFVI-Vanish/Doom, Echo-Screen/Joker Doom, etc. (Not glitches, but make the game a whole lot easier.) FFVI-Relm's Sketch glitch (Only in some NA versions.) FFII-Attack/Cancel Bug FFT-JP Scroll Glitch (Hee hee:p) FFVII-W-Item item duplication FFIV-Left/Right arm equipment duplication glitch FFV-Complicated Ninja/Thief item duplication glitch I haven't tried yet... That's all I've thought of for now. I personally use all the duplication bugs, and I stumbled upon the sketch glitch when I was a kid. Attack/Cancel is pretty neccessary if you ever want to level up magic...And the JP Scroll glitch is overkill -------------------- |

I take advantage of some and avoid some.
I don't use the Sketch Glitch or the JP Scroll Glitch I occasionally utilize Vanish/Doom and in fact not three hours ago I was mastering Materia in the Crater with the help of some duplicated elixirs. So, yes and no |

The Revivify/Maidens Kiss Mix glitch in FFV is pretty cheap, since not only does it make EVERY boss in the game insanely easy, it also allows you to skip Neo ExDeath entirely!
But my favorite glitch, and by far the cheapest, would be the Equipment>Onion Equipment Transformation glitch in FFIII... This post has been edited by ThroneofDravaris on 28th March 2006 04:07 -------------------- |

Glitches are fun. Some of them are worth shamelessly exploiting (like the W-item glitch in FF7, or the sketch glitch in FF6). As for tricks, those are totally allowed. Vanish+Doom is part of the way the game is built. Why shouldn't I use it?

Gltiches and tricks are generally things overlooked by the developers. They can and should be blamed on deficient testing procedures, as well as deficient code revision. Most large-scale projects use some kind of program which keeps various versions of the files needed to build a project and prevents two developers from working on the same file at once. For instance, Visual Source Safe. Any programmer who stuff his work back in there without reviewing, double-checking, asking collegues to run through the source manually, triple-checking, testing, and sacrificing a virgin to, is likely to introduce bugs.
Wether it's fine to use them or not depends on wether you want to abuse an obvious bug or would rather play the game as it was meant to be (even if that's not how it turned out.) -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

Quote Do you approve or disown in-game glitches that may improve your status? I play glitch-free, even in FFT where duping and the JP Scroll glitch have their uses. If people want to get 99 Megalixirs and Vagyrisk Claws through W-Item and say it's perfectly alright, fine with me -- I'm still never going to do it. Me and tricking go along way, though, and I'm down with those. I use the Yell/Accumulate method on occasion... I strip Gaffy of his equipment... -------------------- It's gonna be a glorious day I feel my luck can change |

In FFT, I mave 6 saved all-99 parties. SOme are theme teams, some are all generics, you get the idea.
My master party, though.... the one I'd take to the gates of Hell with me.... I used the JP Scroll Glitch and the Dupe Item Glitch. Duel Excalibers/Chaos Blades. Yummy. -------------------- Join the Army, see the world, meet interesting people - and kill them. ~Pacifist Badge, 1978 |

The only such cheat that I have ever abused is FFIIus/FFIV's item duplication. However, even if I hadn't gotten myself some 20 Excaliburs, Zeromus would likely still be relatively easy (just tedious).
If you count casting Doom on an intangir in FFIIIus/FFVI to be usage of the Vanish+Doom cheat, then that makes two. Otherwise, I just beat the bosses pretty fair-and-squarely--they're not that hard. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. Would Life/Phoenix Down on undead count? Everytime I've gone through FF6, I've used a Phoenix Down on the undead train just because it's so satisfying to have a quick win after a somewhat tedious path to the boss.

Well, they made them like that for a reason. I don't think they intended for Vanish/Doom to work that way, but I'm sure killing undead enemies like that was intended. (Undead enemies in FFVI annoy me the most of all

The only glitch that I knowingly exploited was the weapon duping glitch from FF Tactics, and I beat pretty much the entire game with five Excaliburs. This kinda bothered me, so I've never done it ever again, except for Masamune and Chirijiraden, which I justify by never equipping them... hehe....

Usually, i make another file for it to mess up. In FFT, that Job scroll glitch was a godsend (every summoning spell + short charge = bye bye, wiegraf)
I always feel cheap though, when I do it in the I'm actually trying game. What's this Item Duping glitch in FFT, though? -------------------- Can you pull down the dawn? From memory, the only glitch I've used is the FFVII W-Item. Heh heh, 99 Megalixers + Emerald Weapon = 62 Megalixers

I've used FFIV's item duplication, don't really know how to do the glitch in FFV except the MaidenKiss+Revivify, I've done Vanish+Doom millions of time already to kill off boses I was too lazy to fight (and they were still pretty easy without using that!), FFVII's W-Item glitch to kill off Emerald and Ruby Weapon (Annoying little P.O.S.), never toyed with FFT's glitch.

Generally I stay away from things like that, particularly on my first playthrough of a game. But after I finish it once I might screw around with a glitch. Of note, I still don't use them much.
Probably the only one I would use is the FFII cancel glitch, merely because of how tedious it is to level things in that game. I leveled frog to 16 without it. Took me about a week of nonstop playing. Never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, EVER doing THAT again. The FF3 Onion Kid armor is a glitch? I thought it was a special thing, albeit overpowered. Super high defense and attack is merely the set bonus. Also: JP Scroll Glitch? I don't think i've heard of that before. -------------------- This one time I punched a bear in the forehead TO DEATH! Quote (Zero_Hawk) The FF3 Onion Kid armor is a glitch? I thought it was a special thing, albeit overpowered. Super high defense and attack is merely the set bonus. The equipment itself isn't a glitch, but there is a glitch that allows you to transform your equipment into Onion Equipment practically at the beginning of the game. It's pretty cheap, but probably the only way you'll ever get Onion Equipment in the first place... -------------------- |

Does the FFII cancel glitch work in dawn of souls? I dont think i'm doing it right. Can someone enlighten me on this (and the item glitch in tactics?)
As for the Job Scroll glitch, Zeromus_X told me Quote This trick will only work with a Job that has an ability list that can be scrolled. (*sniff* not calculator ) Go to an Ability and Learn. Go to an ability to learn and when it says 'Would you like to learn *this ability*, do not say yes. Hold Square and scroll down, you'll discover that the ability list has scrolled down, but the learning confirmation box is still there. Click "Yes" now. Not every ability will do this, but alot will make it so you have '0000' JP. Exit the learning menu, and re-enter. Now the job you glitched will have 9,999 JP. -------------------- Can you pull down the dawn? It's been so dark since you've been gone and we've been begging for the morning to come. The attack/cancel glitch was removed from DoS, but skills level up reasonably enough in that anyway, so it doesn't really matter. Origins still has it, definitely. I believe Laszlow made a thread on the duping glitch for FFT somewhere...
Edit: You forgot that it ruins the game. ![]() This post has been edited by Zeromus_X on 27th April 2006 21:52 -------------------- |
